MKEgal, who is a buddy of mine here, said it perfectly on another thread. "I've used phentermine, until it reset my hunger to (what my doctor tells me is) a normal level, and I got used to eating normal-sized portions. No problems of any kind. And if I could have simply used willpower to overcome the hunger, i would have…

That's the post I started. You'll find a lot of helpful replies there, along with a few know it all critics. I made it clear in the title that critics weren't welcome so they mostly stayed away. I take Phentermine too. For me it really helps. But as you said, being aware of what you eat by logging your calories is what's…

You're doing great. It's wonderful your husband is so supportive. I agree with the person who said it gets frustrating when you stop losing as fast. It makes me want to throw in the towel. Whatever you are doing is working for you! What I am learning is after I lose the weight I won't be 'done'. I think I'm going to have…

If you're not taking Qsymia, why the heck are you gloating about what you are doing? She asked about the pill. Not for your opinions of how bad it is. Everyone knows the way to lose weight is to eat less. And whatever helps you to do it is the right way for you. When I quit smoking, I joined a forum where I got lectured…

Well, hopefully you have learned good eating habits. I'm losing about two pounds a month, which is fine with me. I lost weight way too fast the first time, when I looked like that picture on the left. But think of this. When we go on a 'diet' that restricts calories drastically, frequently we gain all the weight back and…

I take it at least an hour before eating and don't eat until at least an hour after that. You'll figure out the best time. A lot of people take it around 11 in the morning. I take it in the afternoon to keep from mindlessly snacking after dinner. Topomax! Yuk, I took it once too. I hated the way it made me feel.

I'm back on Phentermine. I started it again in February. I've lost 23 pounds since then. Not fast, just slow and easy. I would have lost more if I had continued to log my food! I'm back to logging now. I had been doing a lot of gardening and skipping Zumba class. I am back to Zumba and raring to go! My goal is to be in a…

I hope you feel better. I understand how Phen would help with fatigue and make you feel "normal". I get it. When I was a little girl, I was hyperthyroid. My mom would wean me off the thyroid pills, and I would be okay for awhile, then get hyperthyroid again. It started feeling normal to be hyper and eat a lot of food and…

Aww, I get it. She didn't mean harm, I think she was joking.

Fantastic! But from personal experience, watch that weight you gained back. That's a tough one. When I think it isn't working anymore, and I stop taking it, I feel more hungry. It's so easy to put pounds back. My issue is not logging my food. When I don't log, I don't eat as well.
-
I think that's why it helps -- it sure gives you motivation to eat right and exercise once you see some progress.
-
The quick weight loss the first weeks motivated me to get back to exercising and carefully logging my food. I don't know about you, but logging my food keeps me honest. My biggest problem was eating way too much, mindlessly. I've been on it around 6 weeks. It's not working that well but the quick 10 pounds motivated me to…

You're doing great! A friend posted on my profile page what must have been very painful for her to share. A brutally honest portrait of what it was like when she was bingeing. My page is private but if you want to friend me, I will point you to her comments. I can't describe the feeling I got, other than being grateful she…

I respectfully disagree. Don't you think we all, deep inside, know the right way to eat and live? I don't pay a lick of attention to how people say is the right way to eat. I think the food pyramids are trash. I am not young. I've lived through low fat trends, low carb trends, low fat trends then back to low carb trends. I…

I am really happy for you! How long did it take? I only lost 11 so far and nothing fits looser yet.
-
You are really knowledgeable! I think we probably all know the right way to eat and exercise. The big question is why don't we just do it?
-
Phentermine only works for me if I take it at least one hour after eating something, and at least one hour before eating.
-
Iz, let us know how it works. I have a feeling it will work better for someone who has never taken it before. My doctor was willing to let me try Lomiera, but I had the feeling it wouldn't work for me, since I am used to getting the whole dose at once. My biggest problem is night eating. I eat fine during the day, lots of…

Does this count as binge eating? It sure feels like it. I just completely let loose. I usually eat pretty healthy, lots of fresh foods, little processed food. But For 6 months, I ate total junk. Pizza, huge portions at restaurants, pot pies, chips, a bottle of wine a day, 2 or three frozen spaghetti or macaroni at a time.…

You won't lose like that for long. It's probably water weight from eating less food. If you don't feel like you need it for appetite suppression, why take it? It seems like you are doing great without it. Seriously, 6 pounds would be an 18,000 calorie deficit ;)
-
Exactly the same for me!!! It's that panicking "I have to eat right now" thing. With appetite suppression I can be mindful of what I eat, and can stop and think about what I put in my mouth. I am a nanny. Yesterday I baked chocolate chip cookies with the kids. A couple of months ago I could easily chug 10 cookies without…

If you're looking for ways to spread it out during the day, I've heard of a new form of phentermine you take 3 times a day. It's 8mg., Called Lomeira. Exactly the same for me! My biggest issue also is logging. As long as I log, it even write down what I eat, I do great. I partly think that's due to not wanting to see 'I…
-
That's hysterical ;) Anyone else remember when doctors recommended eating lots of pasta?
-
That's the way to do it! It's heartening to see you could keep up the healthy habits. Did you log your food? My plan is to do what you are doing. I lost 50 pounds the first time. This time I want to keep up the healthy eating and exervise. My doctor asked me why I ended up on a one year binge, or whatever you would call…
-
Thanks, that's my grandson and me. Four years and fifty pounds ago. I take Phentermine under my doctor's careful supervision. I go in once a month to get my blood pressure, etc., checked.
-
Thanks. I did gain a lot recently. 20 pounds since my daughter's wedding in May. Maybe I should change my profile picture to what I look like now. That's what I looked like at my thinnest.
-
I was working with a doctor/nutritionist once a month. I learned to eat good foods and get to a healthy weight. Once I got into maintenance I slowly started eating a little junk food. Gradually over four years it turned into drinking a lot of wine, like I did before I started taking Phen. I paid no attention to what I ate.…

You're not being mean. You're being helpful.

That's a good warning for the rest of us. It must have been so scary. I feel so bad for you. Thank you for sharing your story.
-
Yeah, I hear you on it not being a permanent solution. It would be nice if there was a magic bullet! Do you mind telling us your story? It is awful that you still have problems. Sharing that may help some of us.
