Thanks for the good wishes, AnnPT77. Wow, you've gone through so much. And during a pandemic, too. You must have a lot of persistence, too. Lots of hugs and best wishes for better health and reaching your goals.

When I see myself in a full length mirror, after losing 30 pounds in the past year and reaching a healthy weight in the middle of normal BMI, I can't believe my new figure. And when I look at my really old photos, where I was even slimmer than I am now, I remember that I used to be so self-conscious and feel fat! I wasn't.…

Another update. I weighed 125 last June, figured that I was done losing, and got my rings resized and bought size 10 jeans. (I had been wearing size 12). I gained a few pounds over the summer. In August I rejoined Noom to get back on track. Back to 120 on August 27. Hit my happy weight, 116, on September 21. I've been…

1. Mindful eating. I remember to savour every (tiny) bite. It takes me longer to eat, and that gives me time to feel full when I've finished what I intended to eat for that meal. Also it's a lot more enjoyable than eating in a hurry. 2. Doing a weights routine regularly. I only have 5-pound hand weights, but doing weights…

I'm 5'1" and 71. Short, female, and over 70: three strikes against me and my metabolism. Started MFP in 2010, I think. Didn't log consistently. Got more serious in 2017. Bought a Fitbit and started regular aerobic exercise, 30 minutes 6 or 7 days a week. You'd think that would do it, but I only went up and down the same…

I bought new jeans in size 10 in June, thinking that that would be my new size. I've been maintaining since then. But I found that, with my weights, yoga, and Barre routines, I've toned up. My size 10s were too loose except with a belt. Last week I bought size 8 that fits perfectly! Haven't been that size in maybe 20 years!

Although it's certainly nice to be validated by other people noticing my weight loss favourably, I've figured out that I don't need anyone's approval or validation. My 30-pound loss was only visible to most people after not seeing me after an 8-month lockdown. My hairdresser hasn't said a word to me although she's…

You look AMAZING! Congrats on your hard work and determination.
-
Congrats! That's amazing! One thing I've learned is that I have to do what is right for me. I'm a 71-year-old petite woman, and what works for younger or taller people with better metabolisms doesn't work for me. I have to be patient and persistent through several plateaus, then see 2 pounds come off overnight.
-
Losing 25 pounds is a great achievement! Congrats! You've taken the first steps on the journey to better health and a slimmer you. Time and patience are your best friends, because it will take a lot of both to reach your goals.
-
Well done! You look great!

Probably people do talk about this, but I need to say it anyway: Your rings will fall off if you aren't very careful. I almost lost my wedding ring the other day, and now I won't wear my rings until after I get a chance to get them resized, when the stores finally reopen here. Be careful with your rings, people!

Just an update, for those who are interested. I lost 23 pounds over 8 months and will continue to lose another 5 or so to get to my goal weight, 120. This is in the middle of the normal BMI range for 5'1". I did increase my NEAT, but involuntarily. My husband fell in January and now needs to be pushed around in a…

The tightest hole on my (medium) belt is too loose. I'm going to buy a smaller size (small) when the stores reopen. And the next size down in jeans.
-
When shops reopen here I'll have to buy a smaller belt. I've gone from a large to a medium over the past two years. Now I need a small!

I thought that I had to exercise aerobically six or seven days a week for half and hour--and I did, without losing much weight. I now know that aerobics is good for my health and bones, but I don't need to do it every single day. I now know that using weights two or three times a week is important to my weight loss.
-
You're doing great! I'm 70, have a super-slow metabolism, and am 5'1". I've been persistently logging, eating mostly healthfully with some treats, and lost at a rate of about two pounds a month. I'd plateau for a while, then suddenly I'd be down two pounds. Keep going. You'll get there.
-
Congrats on your achievement! I agree with those who told you to change doctors--unless he was trying to motivate you. I'm a 70-year-old woman with super-slow metabolism who counted calories, changed her eating habits, and lost 23 pounds in 8 months. Slowly, but I did it! Don't let anyone tell you it's impossible.
-
My resting heart rate, like Nakila TDRakes, is now 62. Used to be about 72.
-
When I started seriously logging in 2018 I wore size 16 jeans. Now I'm wearing size 12. They're so loose they only stay up because of my belt, worn tightly. When stores reopen here, I'm shopping for size 10 jeans!

I can see arm muscles! (Can't identify them, though.) This is from doing weights for the past four months or so. I have never had visible arm muscles in my life.
-
My mini goal is to be at my goal weight by the end of May, to coincide with my anniversary May 30. I'm at 129 now, so that's 9 pounds.
-
Way to go! Big congrats!
-
I'm rediscovering my cheekbones. I'm often cold and keep a jacket handy. I feel more graceful and flexible.
-
I'm only 3.5 pounds away from being in the "normal" BMI and out of the "overweight" range. I started at the top end of "overweight." Been a long time since I was in normal territory and it's very exciting!

Took several pair of too-big pants and jeans to the donation box yesterday. Also I tried on a sweater that used to be tight and it now fits perfectly.
-
I mostly don't agree with the Kondo theory of decluttering in this thread, but I'm glad for those of you for whom it works. (I still regret all the books I donated/threw away when I moved from a house to this condo, and I've been slowly rebuying them. So I overdid it on the book decluttering.) But one aspect I can relate…
-
What an inspiring story! Congrats!
-
I'm only 6 pounds away from my "normal" range! So close. I know I can do this.
-
What an inspiring thread! Besides the expected things (needing to tighten my belt a couple of notches), I was surprised that I'm cold most of the time. I'm delighted and amazed to see my cheekbones again, and to lose my double chin. When I look in the mirror now I like what I see. Haven't felt that way in a long time. I'm…
