Gorgeous hike today! See that peak? Yeah... I hollered at the others to grab me on the way back down, and proceeded to nap for about 30 mins. Pure bliss. Still, 2,500 elev gain in about 3.5 miles, and a half mile of straight uphill bush-whacking. C'mon ibu, kick in!

I love the 80's hair! Great progress and keep up the good work. :)

Lol! I may have found myself in a flower garden or two myself. Thanks for the laugh and the reminder of why I'm on this journey.

Child-free, plan-less Friday nights are rough for me, but I often force them upon myself in an attempt to "re-train" and adjust expectations on my social life. RSVP'ed "no thank you" to a social event, and stayed centered with myself - and it was fine! Went for a run after work (a sloggy 2 miles - ugh), and prepped some…

I think I'll just keep it private. Nothing worse than unsolicited advice. I'm using this mainly as a tracking/recording tool for myself.
-
Hmmmm.... I don't know. As a general rule, I don't take advice from strangers.

Ppl can see what I eat?!?!!? My, my. Good thing we're not logging our bathroom habits too.

What's the reason for adding folks as friends? Please help. I don't really know anyone personally so is it just a weird "oh la la, you're cute" kind of thing? Like Tinder for calorie-counters? HA! Oh man, I crack myself up.

Just found this group! And just this morning I was thinking about how I'm about a month into 43 years old and it feels sooooooo good!

@Kiki9871... welcome! I hope you find this to be a supportive place. I know I have. I found the first few days were pretty tough, and each has been easier so far (with a few bumps in the road). I've found that it's a new state of mind and takes some adjusting.

@73CL350 ... of good lord, he's adorable! So glad to hear he's on the mend. It's horrible when our babies are hurting. So think of this: you've made it through some SUPER TOUGH stuff the last few weeks. If you can endure that, you can endure anything. Give yourself some credit, some kindness, some tenderness and grace. Pat…

@73CL350 ... oh goodness, he's adorable! Glad to hear he's on the mend. Nothing worse than when our children hurt! So hey... you just made it through some tough stuff! It looks like he's teething too. If you can make it through the last week, I think you can get through a lot. I think you need to give yourself some credit…

Oh, man. I'm so sorry. I PM'ed you. But hey, today is a new day. It is a chance for most things to go well, and likely some things not as planned. Let's think of it as a challenge and can we rise to it? I bet you can. :)
-
@73CL350 ....vent away! Let it all out. Go on a walk. Cry a bit. Lift some weights. Meditate. Hug your baby. Stare at his eyelashes. Take 10 deep, slow breaths. Repeat. It's okay.

Try to hold off! Maybe cheesecake instead? Lol... maybe the same caloric content (but IDK, I'm not a fan of calorie counting). Maybe a brisk walk to a local boutique? Maybe a brisk walk to the ladies room where you can spend a few minutes centering yourself and gathering your strength.

Was that inspiring? Um, that's good! After I posted it ... I coulnd't figure out why and I'm kind of embarrassed... so thanks for saying thanks. :)

Doing some self-reflection. My tiptoe towards sobriety came after this sequence: - learning my dad was ill and rearranging my life so I could be with him for treatments for a week at a time, every third week, for 6 months - helping my dad in the final stages of his life, until the end, with as much grace and joy as I could…

I'm the only one who reads "as f**k" every time I see AF? He he he! Good morning, all. :)
-
@RubyRed427 ...I think you need to schedule something lovely and indulgent for yourself or with a friend for Friday night. A movie, maybe? Ohh.... a massage! Oh a pedicure -- if that's your thing. (I don't know if I'm in any position to give advice, though.)
-
Thanks, @lorrainequiche59 ... I don't know if I'm seeking feedback or just venting either! And yes, I'm confused, but I feel even that state is a good and healthy one. At the moment all I can commit to is "I'm kinda off the sauce these days" -- and luckily, my friends find humor with and understand that! (Many of them…

Update: well, I drank at that concert. I won't go into details but let's just say that while it wasn't all bad, it wasn't all good either. I'm a great compartmentalizer, if that's even a word, and here is how I've handled my attempts at an AF life: I no longer drink daily. I feel like I've slayed that beast and I'm at…

He is ADORABLE! It's so hard when our babies are sick. Hang in there, daddy! You are his rock. :)

I'm going to a concert this weekend and I'm thinking about drinking. I'm seeing one of my FAVORITE BANDS OF ALL TIME in a bee-you-tiful venue... and it's my birthday the next day. As I've said before, I'm not sure how committed I am to this sober life, but that I was just in a mode of "not drinking" for a bit. I wish I…

@JenT304 -- that's a perfect phrase!

@RubyRed427 .... this weekend sounds like it will be challenging, but just remember how awesome those non-hangover mornings feel: AMAZING! Be strong, Ruby! I was woken up this weekend by drunk neighbors at 2 AM. It was hilarious! I wasn't mad (seriously, they were having so much fun I couldn't be mad) but it was funny to…
-
@RudyRed427.... I want to know what you gifted yourself!!! :) I like this idea and think that for some of us, it may resonate deeply. Having X number of days sober now, I feel like it's something that I'm supposed to cling to so I get super nervous when I think about drinking again, and I feel like this nervousness and…

I like the "out of 82 days, I have not had alcohol for 80 of them" .... I wish all of you the best in your journeys, and I hope you wish me well on mine regardless of any program I may or may not be a part of or how I count my days. Happy AF weekend to you all!

I only remember b/c that last one was a doozy (thanks, 25th HS reunion!). I started down this path earlier, but have since had 2 "breaks". I was telling a friend I'd like to be able to say "80ish days minus 2" but I guess it doesn't work that way.

30 days AF today.
