Still finding the activity feed to be a massive, empty hole.

  • lololol. Apps are the ultimate modern “convenience”, right?
  • this one is a riot on many levels. Look at the scale!
  • can you get physical therapy? Now, rather than later? I know with with my minor injuries (bike wreck, broken toe, a bad foot for a while) I was determined to keep exercising, but was bad about overcompensating on one side to make up for the other, and ended up straining the other side through overwork. That felt harder to…
  • I don’t have the new diary yet. Thank heavens. Whatever they did though, seems to have been the dagger to the heart for those of us still on the old one. What an unholy mess. SMH.
  • wow, the lines here when they first came out were insane. My bedridden mom, who had to be spoon fed, even begged me to pick one up for her.
  • if you’re going to group cardio, you don’t need to be parking in a handicapped space. There’s only six, and the folks in the rehab classes, who could only wish to be as mobile as you, need all of them. Have a freaking heart!
  • unpopular opinion, belongs in the other thread, but…..I’ve gotten sick a lot less often the past few years. Maybe it’s weight loss, but I attribute it to slow and deep breathing “pranayama” techniques learned in yoga, which carry over to the weight room, much to the chagrin of my trainer. I’ve been so trained to do slow,…
  • ah, but was that today-today, yesterday-today, or tomorrow-today? The dates are so fouled up it’s throwing 7-day averages out. I just checked my net average by hand and it was out about 40 calories per day. Presumably macros are likewise screwed up.
  • yeah I have to flip back and fourth several days to before it’s really “today” I’m logging to. Plus my weekly averages are totally faffed. It’s showing I’m eating above net calories on days I’m well below. I shouldn’t have to screen shot, and haul out a calculator to verify myself. I’m pulling my hair out.
  • OMFG. I just found myself in knots over calorie averages, only to realize today is today, not tomorrow or yesterday or the “other” today. . I also caught myself heading out the door to a class yesterday that doesn’t happen til tomorrow because I thought it was “today”. FIX THE CALENDAR, FOR HEAVENS SAKE!!!!! I’m so…
  • Where do you get the 1200 goal? Thats very low for most people unless you’re very short and/or very sedentary? What made you decide on high protein / low carb? Is this all recommended by a doctor, or some vague notion you got off social media? I’m not trying to be a smart *kitten*. Sooooo many people come here thinking 1200 is…
  • that’s an accomplishment to be proud of!! I hope you’ll share with others what you changed in your life, and what you’ll continue doing so you don’t regain. We could use posters like you on the boards! 😘
  • Welcome to MFP @greatsarcro801 use the goals section on the main menu to calculate. There’s also an area on the boards, at the very very top of the intro board, called MFP Academy. It contains tips and videos to learn to use the app properly. Take the initiative to learn the app. Just downloading it is not going to lead to…
  • anxiety at maintenance? Heck yeah. I’m the sort who knows -and accepts- I will be logging until my fingers seize up because I will regain if I don’t. That’s not such a chore. I have most my meals saved under meals for easy recall, and generally snack on the same things. Apologies to those who’ve heard this before, but the…
  • if you look at “most recent” reviews in the App Store, they’re getting dinged hard over this. I’m sure they’re aware, but an update -anything- would be much appreciated.
  • ^^^true, though I hadn’t really thought about it that way. I have a large, high protein breakfast, usual 450-550 calories and 35-45gr protein. Yes, I supplement a couple times a week with that ginger chew, but I’ve typically done about 4 move ring turns by the time I do, so at that point I’ve far “out burned” the breakfast…
  • no no no no no no no. Just NO! You’re braver than me.
  • oh man. I’d forgotten about their kale salads. I used to looooove those things.
  • and as for motivation, it’s fleeting. You’ve got to think in terms of retraining your tastebuds and creating new habits.
  • welcome to MFP. I kept a list of snacks I felt I could control hung on the fridge when I started. I did not allow sweets in the house. Go to the grocery store with a list of just what you need. Stick to it. Eating a filling meal before going to the grocery store will help curtail impulse purchases Even now, six years in,…
  • hey @anitasardini Check and see if maybe your protein is set on weekly average, instead of daily number:
  • that doesn’t make sense. Law of averages would say half are rounded up and half are rounded down. And you’ve only got the option for six meals (speaking from memory). I’ve got breakfast, lunch, dinner, afternoon snack, evening snack, and chai. Even if all were rounded down, that’s only 6 grams. Can you post screen shots?
  • Chimes Ginger Chews. Soft, spicy hot and sweet. 15 calories apiece. I do an hour of personal training or group cardio four mornings a week, followed by at least a mile of swimming laps. Sometimes I get a little wombly, so I keep a wrapped chew parked at the end of the lap lane. If that feeling comes over me, I just pop it…
  • I was a big fan of Gregg Wallace’s podcast “A Piece of Cake”, but he got “cancelled” earlier this year, and all the episodes are now deleted from Apple and Spotify. I think he was a judge on the Great British Bakeoff? Shame. He’d lost quite a bit of weight, and was sincerely interested in the process. His interviews with…
  • $200 a session?! They must’ve bumped their danged heads! Granted my gym does a quarterly discount package sale, but their trainers also all have some kind of degree in physical therapy, rehab, exercise science etc. They are first rate. Worlds away from sorry *kitten* trainers I had at LAFitness and Workout Anytime. (Not to slam…
  • regarding Oura ring, not a clue. You’d have to start a new thread with that specifically in the title. The easiest, most reliable fitness trackers for MFp seem to be Apple Watch, Fitbit, and Garmin. I’ve seen loads of complaints about an Amazon tracker, and some Chinese sounding knockoffs not syncing. There’s elaborate…
  • @Jphamilt and @Sedona88 yes! You absolutely can sync an Apple Watch to MFP. It’s a bit confusing to figure out how but super easy once you do, and as the watch “learns” you, it becomes more and more accurate. First, this is how it looks when it has synced both steps and exercises to your daily diary. (Please ignore the…
  • I do group strength training twice a week here at home, and have done it at my daughter’s gym in SoCal as well. I think her gym’s is a branded (Beach Body or Les Mills?) type class. It’s a very large group, youngish group but some 60’s and 70’s, maybe 40 people, maybe 15% males. They use steps with mats as benches, and use…
  • Two inspiring ladies today. First Lady is an older Black woman, on a freaking walker, at the gym, who is taking swimming lessons. I’m hazarding a guess mid 80’s or older. My best friend for years was Black (she passed away) and she was petrified of water. As kids, they (Deep South 😢) didn’t have access to pools, and it was…
  • for some reason, that sounds like it should be an Animaniacs song. I don’t know why they popped into my head.
