That's the whole point of this discussion. The OP clearly stated what foods aren't worth the calories TO YOU. I think most of us are aware (in this thread anyway) that all foods CAN be eaten in moderation.

It sounds like it's not mental/emotional hunger, it's actual hunger, which means you need to eat more. Your body is telling you to eat more. If you're that ravenous, there are no "tricks" that will help. I've always been wary of trying to trick your body anyway. Your body signals to you that it's hungry for a reason. Same…

For me it's become fast food (with some exceptions). I used to eat a ton of fast food and I now realize that at least 75% of the time, it doesn't even taste that good, it just gives me that carb/fat/salt fix. Now, if I want a burger, I'll get a really good, gourmet burger. It probably has more calories than the one from…

It sounds like a way of eating that would be best suited to those who are naturally not hungry throughout the day or who have really busy schedules and often forget to eat. It doesn't sound sustainable if you're trying to force yourself into that way of eating simply to lose weight. At that point, it toes the line a bit…

Have you considered going vegetarian first? This would allow you to still eat eggs and dairy, which are still low carb, but have a good amount of protein and fat.

I enjoy how we basically said the same thing in our comments, but I ended up with 10 people disagreeing with me LOL.

Keto isn't necessary for weight loss obviously - but it sounds like you didn't do the research on electrolyte supplementing when you started. That would have lessened, if not completely alleviated, a lot of the symptoms you experienced.

I lost about 50 lbs 8 years ago by doing a medically supervised program that was basically just a prescription for phentermine. I was successful at the time because I had no appetite, but I gained back everything and then some over the course of the last few years. That's not phentermine's fault, but ultimately I did not…

I read this as "Dunkin" diet and was fully prepared to commit myself to that.

Does he know this? Like, have you had an actual conversation about it, not just little passing comments? If you value the relationship, have the conversation and see how he responds. If you don't, move on. Clearly your interests and values don't align anymore.

Why exactly are you with him? You're making him sound like a tool. For what it's worth, I don't think you're shallow at all for wanting to be attracted to your partner. But it doesn't sound like that's the issue here? It sounds like you think that there is a double standard, and the inequality of the situation is the real…

I was wondering this too lol. Apparently someone doesn't know what "disagree" means.

Feel free to add me as well. SW: 255 GW: 150 I'd love to friend some people and see some motivation in my feed!

I tried it for about a week, and yes, it works. But only because you're consuming like 1,000 per day. You could eat real food at a 1,000 limit and lose just as much. I do think some people would benefit from being on a very structured plan that doesn't require them to think about cooking or grocery shopping. But honestly,…

It does sound a bit extreme to want to lose 30 lbs in just a few months, but to answer your question - berries are a good lower carb fruit. I personally love blueberries and raspberries. In terms of veggies, anything green is great. If you are doing Atkins, you'll want to stay away from anything starchy. Additionally, no…

Yes, I know, and agree with you.

Funnily enough, my doctor actually told me I didn't need to lose weight and that I was perfect the way I was - I only needed to limit carbs for blood sugar purposes. I'm not sure if he was just afraid of hurting my feelings or what, but as a 250 lb female at 5'7", I hardly think I'm perfect the way I am. I almost wish he…

So you're saying carbs don't matter at all?
-
He did not, but I'm hoping to get to see one anyway!

I think you're right, seeing an RD will be very helpful for me. I will see if I can get on with one in my area. I just recently set up myfitnesspal and have started logging - aiming for 1,400-ish calories per day. Hopefully that's a good amount? I set it for 2 lbs per week.
-
Thank you, this is a great recommendation. I will do that!

Also just wanted to add in case this matters - my dr said that I am not yet close to T2 diabetes, just over the line into prediabetes territory and I am not on any medication at this point.

Thank you everyone for your replies! To clear up a few things - my doctor did not specifically tell me to do keto, he simply said "eat mostly meat, vegetables, and eggs and limit bread to once a week". I had tried keto in the past and asked him if I should do that again - he said that would be fine. But I didn't really get…
