  • been training for 40+ years. Just turned 69 in October. Currently train every day. 3 days weights 1 day cardio (90) minutes. Repeat cycle. No off days. Last check I was at 12% bodyfat. Was pretty light though. Feel pretty comfortable 12-15% bodyfat. I usually just check in the mirror. If abs start to fade a little I dial…
  • Multiple meals has worked for me in the past. I try and eat something every 2 hours between meals. usually fruit, yogurt, bagel, something easy to eat. I eat a lot of bananas, combine one with a rice cake and a tablespoon of peanut butter and it's about 250 calories. Just be careful not to overdo it
  • I use oatmeal a lot to up my calories. Typically between meals. I usually mix in nonfat Greek yogurt and a scoop of vanilla protein powder. Sometimes I microwave it other times I eat it cold like a pudding.Sometimes a banana or frozen strawberries.
  • Hello everyone What timing. I am seriously considering entering a local NPC show in April. I have looked at the past show winners. I am 68 years old and been training for 40 years. usually have visible abs although not always sharp. 16 inch biceps weigh 160lbs. Been down as low as 140 and pretty shredded. I figure in my…
  • going from 110 to 170 is an incredible amount of weight to gain. What is your timetable to gain this much weight. I would agree with Retroguy slight calorie surplus is usually all that is necessary. Lift consistent. I myself would definitely try and up the protein uptake a bit. I myself don't measure bodyfat. I use the…
  • Good morning I just turned 68 and have been lifting for 40 years. I started at the original powerhouse in Detroit (right in the heart of the porno district). What a place to start. I certainly don't lift as heavy as I used to but I train pretty intense. 3 days of weights one day of cardio (4-6 miles on treadmill) then…
  • Cardio today 4 miles on the treadmill (70 mins) 20 mins of abs
  • Good call I checked my weight and decimal point was off 14.5 instead of 145
  • I would tend to agree that 2 1/2 hours 6 days may be a bit excessive. Also it is going to be very hard to gain muscle mass at 9-10% body fat. Would definitely bump up the calories. I train for 90 minutes 6 days a week. 3 day split with a cardio day in between, no off days. This works well for me. Increase or decrease my…
  • My relationship with the gym has changed over the years and continues to evolve. Initially I started at the original Powerhouse on 6 mile and Woodward in Detroit's porno district. It was gritty, raw and intoxicating. I loved it. Lots of newbie gains and I loved the gym. Changed gyms a bunch of times and I didn't always…
  • snack on nuts between meals maybe add in a mass gain protein drink in the evening with some fruit added in
  • Good on you for starting at 19 years old. I sincerely wish I had done so myself. Welcome to the world of supplements. There are more types of protein powder and more opinions on which is the best than you would have time to read or watch on you tube. I use protein powder 1-2 times daily depending on my food intake for the…
  • I appreciate this topic. I am considering TRT myself. Will turn 67 in October and train every day. Gonna schedule a physical with my doc to discuss it further
  • I'm not female but for what it's worth I used creative for 2 years. Not sure it made a big difference. I stopped taking it for 6 months and didn't notice any big changes so I stopped taking it altogether. It is not an expensive supplement and reasonably safe. Give it a try for 3-6 months and see if you get the desired…
  • I have been watching his You tube for quite awhile. He was definitely the real deal. RIP Mountain Dog you will be missed by many
  • 4 months is definitely not enough time to put on any appreciable size. Without "enhancements" 3-4 years would be closer to the mark. How old are you?? Age can be a factor in the ability and time required to put on size. SLOW AND STEADY GAINS!! over years of lifting. Stick with it you have just started the journey and…
  • Seems like a pretty solid routine to me. Do you feel like you are over training?? My routine is roughly the same with a little less cardio and I don't really feel like I am over training. I look forward to working out. If looking to gain size, it is a very long slow process. If you enjoy your current routine try and add in…
  • currently 67 years old and been training for 40 years, when I was younger obviously bigger and stronger was my goal, (always on a bulk I guess), got up to about 170-180 pounds 5'8". Had a #365 bench and #505 squat as personal best. No longer bulk/cut. try and keep weight under 160. Usually just look in the mirror. If abs…
  • I have been lifting for years, at times heavier squats and deadlifts, have always worn Rebok high tops (classic), past 6 years been using Rebok Exofit hightops, flat bottom with good solid base. Typically 20 mins of treadmill daily 3.5-4 MPH with occasional 6 MPH burst. On Sundays 90 mins of treadmill speed and incline…
