    Thank you - that's so nice of you to say! I'm never really sure how to look at my cycling metrics. I admit, I'm mostly just trying to have fun and get a little variation in outdoor activities, but as a non-cyclist it's really hard for me to understand if what I'm doing is reasonable or not, since bikes and terrain vary so much.

    I think cycling in general "checks a lot of boxes" for adults concerned with longevity, health span, etc.
    When easy cycling, we are putting in a bunch of time in Zone 2, which is a key health practice, according to many who study healthspan (Thinking of Peter Attia's youtube podcasts,etc.)

    Plus riding the bike a nice complement to rowing, strength, etc. I find that the easy rides help to flush out the lactic buildup from hard efforts.

    Finally, for me, the biggest reason is that it is such a fun way to be active. There is both an exercise and social element to riding outdoors, with very little residual fatigue from Z2 outings.

    Just stay away from power meters and FTP tests, since they drain the fun right out of it! ;)

    Yesterday was cardio day (compared to lifting day the rest of the week), so 45 minutes on the elliptical.

    Today was back/bi's day, so pullups, lots of rows, and arm curls.

    I hate cycling :( but maybe that's because it's been my primary mode of transportation all my life and I'm just tired of it. It's not super tiring and it's efficient and good for the environment and I'm actually pretty good at it but I'd rather walk places if I don't have to wake up extra early to do so, because I hate getting up early more than cycling.

    Today we did the benchmark wod DT, which is 5 rounds of 12 deadlifts, 9 hang power cleans and 6 push jerks. I didn't realise quite how not ready I was for this workout until I tried warming up with a 25kg bar but it was so hard and I only did half of a single round with it. I kinda felt my shoulders more than necessary because I did all the knee raises yesterday but it was mistly my wrists that were holding me back.

    I used to waitress for a few years, holding really heavy trays, and I did a lot of self-defense stuff with hapkido and taekwondo at the time so my wrists have been extremely overworked. Add to that very limited wrist mobility and a few broken wrists in childhood - I was such a clumsy kid - and I was struggling to do the workout with a 20kg bar. But I did it and it took me 12 min 6 seconds and afterwards I did a whole hour-long pilates class as well.

    Missed yesterday's workout because life got in the way (fun stuff, at least). But I woke up way too early (stupid nighttime hot flashes!) and couldn't go back to sleep, so I'm just feeling off today. But I persevered and got my tired butt on the elliptical. I managed an hour, 3.2 miles, about half of that in zone 3, the rest zone 2 and below.

    My brain is kind-of funny. I was tired and wanted to stop, but it felt wrong to get off the machine if I didn't get to a nice round number - somewhere. Usually I end at an even mileage, but that wasn't going to happen today so I had to decide between an even calorie number or time. I went with time: 1 hour exactly. Yeah, I'm weird.... As if the 4 minutes, 0.2 miles, or 20 calories was going to make or break me, right? :D

    LOL, See...it gets sort of addicting. With me it's either, I try for the even minutes or even miles on the Elliptical.

    And..... got my new fitness watch today, so I had to try it out. I did a short strength training session of upper body only. :smiley:

    Speaking of which...I worked today, so not a usual exercise day. But we didn't have many patients to fill my 10 hour day so I got to leave 2 hours and 40 minutes early. I thought, "I'll put the time to good use and hop on my Elliptical for 2 1/2 hours." Well as I said above, it can get a bit addicting. I have to finish a show/movie, get a certain number of minutes or a even mileage. I ended up doing 185 minutes for 13.1 miles. It's hard to get minutes and miles all even at the same time!!!

    Drizzle-y day today so I did a 10k + 3' CD stationary bike, easy to moderate pace, all but 1' Z3 and below, 90W average including the CD. HR maybe a little higher than usual near the end, but not dramatic like yesterday's machine row.

    I've gotta remember to turn on the ceiling fan when I do this, since it's not Winter anymore (AC not on yet). If sweat were the measure of workout quality, I'd be a champ, since I sweat easily and lots even at low intensity: Even with a terry sweatband just above my eyebrows, I was getting sweat in my eyes by the end, and the backs of my hands were visibly wet (!). Jeesh.

    I was thinking along those same lines today too. I was a bit warm on the elliptical this afternoon and thought "I'm bringing a fan down for tomorrows minutes."

    On Wednesday, I was a bit time constrained. (There was an office party with a 3-line whip to attend), so I just did deadlifts. I worked up to 1 set of 7, 110 kgs. I did my customary lots of walking.

    Yesterday, I went climbing. I wasn't in particularly good form. I repeated a lot of stuff I'd done before, but didn't get anything new. 2 hour session.

    I hit my old 1RM front squat today!!! I am so happy. And then I did one that was 2,5kg heavier too!
    After that we had to do 40-30-20-10 alternating DB snatches and sit ups. I used a 12,5kg DB and it took me 12 min 7 seconds. The snatches were kinda light, I ended up doing the first 40 unbroken, then 16-14, and the 20 and 10 unbroken. I am very slow at sit ups but I managed 20 unbroken in the first set. The rest I divided up in 10s, 7s and 5s, depending on how I was feeling with a few breaths of rest in between.
    I feel super good and very pumped. I didn't sleep enough so I lounged in bed until 10am ish and had a 1500kcal breakfast (double my usual amount) so I think that helped me kick the workout's *kitten*.

    After a few very busy days, I got put for a 2 hour walk today. Up and down hills and got those glutes burning. Average speed 6km per hour.

    It was a very sunny but very blustery walk which increased the intensity of walking uphill into a head on wind.

    So tired, the wind always wears me out for some reason but feeling great πŸ‘

    Been away since I’m a broken record of a usual daily run. Went for a slim shady(8 mile.. get it πŸ˜‚) run today. The 98% wet state I was in with final I’m good was literally as my shoes started going squish with every strike. Good thing I stopped since I had thought of doing a half-marathon. Well made the right call as my nip pasties were murdered by my sweat. After removing my shirt realized one was gone and the other was barely hanging on for dear life by a tiny bit of remaining adhesive left on it. Good πŸ‘ times…

    Moved some rocks around the yard for a few minutes and then later went on a short walk (mostly to test my new fitness watch). 30 minutes, about ~1.75 miles, gentle incline - mostly Zone 2, but a small dip into Zone 4 when my kid and I ran up some steps, I tripped and almost face-planted. My lightning-fast reflexes saved the day! :D

    Tired and sore today (probably from the rock moving yesterday), but my watch was prompting me to do some cardio. I opted for the watch-led dynamic mobility program. It was pretty fun and a good stretch for the hips. Stats: 25 min., all HR zone 2 and below.

    Boathouse was supposed to be closed yesterday and today because of some landscape construction work there, but it was mostly completed yesterday, so we were able to row today. This time, I was back in the double (in bow), for a pretty-lazy pace roughly 7k, our usual bridge-to-bridge circuit. First time in the double this season, still pretty weedy (the weeds grab your oars, try to flip the boat), so we kept the pace gentle. It was a lovely day for rowing, flat water, warm but not too warm, sunny.

    In a possible moment of foolishness, I committed to row 3 days in a row (Sa-Su-M) - usually I alternate with biking, except for Fri/Sat rowing most weeks. I'm glad I decided to take yesterday as a rest day from formal exercise, when my schedule got a little complicated yesterday.

    I didn't start out thinking I would do this. But when I got to about 15 miles on my Elliptical, I realized since I have to babysit @ 5:30-9 tonight, I wouldn't get a second session in today. And decided to try for something. I wish I knew how up upload photos to the site, to show you. I DID 337 MINUTES ON THE ELLIPTICAL FOR 26.25 MILES. AND I FEEL FINE. GREAT ACTUALLY! As far as any plan this is most likely a one time think. Just wanted to see if I could do it.

    You completed a marathon on the elliptical: How cool is that?!! πŸ₯‡πŸ†πŸ’ͺ🦡🀩

    It was almost 2 hours of putting gravel into a wheelbarrow in the front garden and wheeling it down 30m to the back garden and distributing it - 3 tonnes of gravel πŸ₯΅ All on my own, who says a woman can't do a man's job πŸ’ͺ

    My face was puce and I've never sweated so much!

    Loved every second and my garden looks amazing. It is a work in progress but I am getting there 🌸🌻

    Garden workouts are the best. :)

    I mowed our badminton/play field today with a push mower. It took 30 minutes and my watch said the total distance was a half mile. (And most of it I spent in HR zone 3!) Love it when exercising also gets stuff done around the house!
