Hello everyone. I am israel.
I wanted to open up this discussion for those of us who are into bodybuilding, but I mean actual bodybuilders who compete. Those of you who want to compete and/or have competed in the past post here, so we can help each other out in anyway we can specifically w our bodybuilding.
Questions, concerns, goals, workouts, ect.
And of course, learn to love the pain! 😂

Hello everyone
What timing. I am seriously considering entering a local NPC show in April. I have looked at the past show winners. I am 68 years old and been training for 40 years. usually have visible abs although not always sharp. 16 inch biceps weigh 160lbs. Been down as low as 140 and pretty shredded. I figure in my age group I could make a pretty good placing. However I know next to nothing about dieting, peak week posing, etc. Still not sure if I will compete or not1 -

Definitely compete! My show is in March. I will begin to manipulate my sodium intake come February, and start “detail” work, meanings a ridiculously high rep workouts.
I don’t know much about peak week and meal timing per day yet but I will be posting my updates as the date approaches 💪🏼
It sounds like you have a great physique already!0 -
I've done a couple shows. I will eventually get back onstage, but not for a couple/few years (my youngin' has braces & lemme tell ya, those orthodontics payments are no joke). So I guess you could call this a very extended improvement season.3

I’m prepping for my 5th show now. Anyone is welcome to friend me. I prep for the stage with 30+ years lifting behind me as well as 10+ years nutrition, certified personal trainer, and currently working towards my nutrition coaching certification.3

I competed in my 20's and still train bodybuilding style although I'm not trying to gain size anymore. Have always been drug free and have never placed any higher than 5th due to being 4 or 5 inches taller than most of the guys I competed against in light weight classes (140lbs-155lbs).

@ninerbuff what is your height?0

I've played around with wanting to step on stage in physique or classic but I've never really gotten my diet down til this year. I'm currently 6 foot 227lbs and think I would possibly lean enough at 190-200lbs to do it. My problem is I need to build up my lats and chest to even have a chance to do well, my legs and calves are there already thankfully1

@tigrig i say don’t do it unless youre 100% set on setting foot on stage. Definitely wasn’t a joke last couple weeks of prep lol.
But you’ve got some nice weight on you! I will say, can’t truly know your weak points until you are sub 10% bf 🤷🏽♂️0
