  • You're not kidding. The newborn phase is definitely about survival. I ended up giving birth 2 days after my due date. Everything went fine. I only had an episiotomy and epidural. At 4 or 6 weeks postpartum. I was sitting around 186 pounds. I think pretty soon I'll be able to start working out and be comfortable doing so. We…
  • Update. Today is my due date. Woke up to a real contraction at 1:18 am and again at 3:45 am. This last week on Monday I think the scale at dr office was 215 or 212. My work scale is usually about 5 lb less. So that means in total I went from about 178 to 207. Some is swelling/edema, some is baby, some is amniotic fluid and…
  • Well looks like it was actually 7 lb I gained not 1 (that was last month as the nurse hadn't put in that days weight yet). So I've supposedly gained 21 lbs since I got pregnant. Still working on healthier snacks and watching calorie intake so hopefully that will keep her healthy and minimize unnecessary gains for me.
  • I am glad to hear that POV. Sometimes hearing that from someone who's been there brings hope and a new mindset that it may not be as traumatic and damaging as I fear it could be. That did help me shift my perspective a bit, though I know for some it is a bit more physically traumatic. Just met with OB and only gained 1 lb…
  • Couple extra bits of info. I'm 35 or will be in may before giving birth (due in july) so I'm considered advanced maternal age and at higher risk of gestational diabetes and pre-eclampsia etc. I'm also 5'4" and was about 178 when I got pregnant which is a little over 30 BMI and considered obese. I was 205 lb in 2019 when I…
  • I did start tracking again yesterday and reset my calories to 2000 a day (should maybe aim closer to 1800 I guess). What I've read on weight gain Is if you were obese bmi to start you want to stay between 15-25 lb of gain. Unfortunately I was in that category. But I'm pulling back on the reigns so to speak and trying to…
  • Well I think all the cousins that were having girls have had them so I know what names are unavailable. My sister in law is also pregnant with a girl and due in June. Not sure what they are planning to name her. My cousin named one of his twin girls Claire (the other is Sadie) and I really like that name but will probably…
  • At week 24 and 5 days. US scan at week 20 was normal. Have traded nausea for frequent evening heartburn and nightly tums to combat acid reflux. Had only gained 1 lb in the last month between appointments but I think in this last week I've gained at least 4 lb... have been so hungry and eating too much junk. Plan to go home…
  • @VeryKatie congrats! Feeling pretty good now just some hip pains and fatigue. Very mild nausea.
  • I hope my nausea clears up too. Haven't actually puked but sometimes it's pretty annoying. @VeryKatie Hopefully your little ones will oblige meeting the outside world here soon. I think my 10 lb was at least half prior to ttc lol but 175 is still better than the 205 I started at in 2019. Did try to go for a walk this…
  • Pregnant with my first baby. Will be 12 weeks on Wednesday. So far I accidentally gained 10 lb prior to getting pregnant, so about 175-178 to start. I'm 5'4" and 34. Have gained to 180 (2-5 ish pounds) mainly because I'm lazy and hungry! Trying to minimize snack damage, while also snacking to minimize the nausea. First ob…
  • Hoping someone pipes up with ideas here, I'm newly pregnant too. Have been a couch potato and not super active for over a year. Only gained back 10 lb but trying to limit the gain during pregnancy and get back on track with some mild exercise and healthy eating. If I find something worth sharing I'll try to post it.
  • I plan to ask my doctor the same question. What exercises are OK and how many calories should I eat? I don't want to gain back the 30 lb I lost, but realize I should eventually gain some 20 ish during the pregnancy. I know exercise is probably a good idea to minimize weight gain and help prevent gestational diabetes, just…
  • I've enjoyed using the free version for years and don't need the extras. I do miss the barcode scanner for some things (it used to be free) but as long as they don't remove access to forums I don't see a need to do premium. Have gone from 205 to 164 with free app. My chiropractor actually suggested using it more than a…
  • Me too. Had gotten down to 165 or less a little over a year ago (from 205 a few years back). Maintained between 165 and 168 for like 6 months and then somewhere in there it crept back up to 178.5 today. Today is the day I started logging again, and I stayed under my calorie goals today! I'm hoping to add in some workouts…
  • If it makes you feel better, the majority of my weight loss journey has been accomplished with no extra working out. I am also a busy professional with not a lot of extra time (don't have kids yet though). So I went from 205 to 165 with some logging and staying true to calorie goals. I didn't really adjust diet too much…
  • https://gimmedelicious.com/air-fryer-chicken-and-veggies/ I usually do some version of this and you can substitute whatever veggies you want... simple, easy, and customizable to what veggies you like and seasonings you prefer.
  • I wasn't alive yet when my favorite NFL team was good... but it's coming back around. ❤
  • I remember playing oregon trail on old mac computers, AOL instant messenger and chat rooms, and dial up internet. Met a friend from Iraq on a chat room I wasn't supposed to be in during the middle of the night ant grandmas house when I was a young girl and thankfully he was harmless and is still a friend. I also remember…
  • I worry too about the maintainence level at the end but still have 25 ish pounds to go or more. I have managed to maintain at a plateau of 176-178 ish the last 4 whole months with variable attention to logging and motivation so that makes me feel like when i reach my goal I can get the hang of maintainence. Anyway glad to…
  • Stayed up too late last night because I was watching a netflix documentary (Prosecuting Evil) and learning of an amazing man named Ben Ferencz (not sure if i spelled it right). As a young man he was a prosecutor in the Nuremberg trials and I really enjoyed the documentary. Slept in til 7 am, but unable to go back to sleep.…
  • Yeah Gabi, that bit you do that "doesn't count" is more than I get in all week sometimes... lol Happy birthday! Your takeout dishes sounded delicious! Also, I need a dog, and still can't have one cause we need a house... sigh. My time will come. My feet are feeling better after a restful weekend. Still a little sore from…
  • I keep trying to post messages but hit the wrong button and lose it all... lol anyway I'm still here. Have been kind of staying at maintenance this week. Scales still at 178.2 but after a long busy short-staffed week and that tom again I got a migraine this morning. Sadly I've been puking all day. Alternating small cat…
  • Quick note to say I'm still here. Lots of stress monday and tuesday but Wednesday and Thursday were better. Found the energy and motivation to do some cleaning today etc. Had a post two days ago but mustve hit that done button instead of post again. Need to find more crockpot recipes but my crockpot isn't that fancy. Hope…
  • Saturday was nuts, super busy. I sat down when we closed at 1 finally to write in the stack of charts. Finally left at 3. Extra stressful "maybes" happening at work. A former employee that struggled with drug use last year is asking for her job back. 3 drs would be nice but depends on if she's changed at all. Sounds like…
  • Catherine I'm very sorry to hear about your friend. You just don't know how that stuff is going to affect an individual. She sounds like a fantastic individual and probably inspired many to step up and get involved in a cause. If nothing else she seems like she spread genuine kindness to everyone she met. Hope you had a…
  • Regarding eggplant, i think if it was roasted a bit prior to using for lasagna maybe that would've helped with the flavor. He also didn't peel it so... it was kinda bitter that way. Gabi I'm glad you enjoyed your break. Don't worry about the water weight it'll come off. But time for us both to get back at the goals. The…
  • Back to work today and it was busy. Squeezed in an extra surgery to repair a nasty laceration on a doggy. Did not get a lunch break, but at least i could eat my lunch for dinner when i sat down to write in charts. One of our least favorite clients brought in his dogs for heartworm treatment today, that client was actually…
  • Other than the tomato zuchinni soup i discovered this year, i have never really made or eaten many soups. Want to try a squash soup that i made once years ago, but haven't recently. My ex did make a lasagna with eggplant instead of noodles once and it wasn't a very tasty eggplant. Has sort of made me not like eggplant.…
  • Oh man the days off are so needed for my soul! One of our favorite clients has a couple pets we see and she always tells us she appreciates us and says thank you for our help etc. She unfortunately had a 2 year old cat with some crazy mass in the chest. We had been treating with prednisolone as palliative care and he was…
