  • Hello everyone. I’ve been silent. Just trying to get back possibly run some this month. I’m putting myself down for 10 miles run and 70 miles walk. I’m feeling no pain in my left piriformis muscle. It’s loosened up but it not as limber as on the right side. I’ve been thinking why the left hip so tight and I forget I’ve got…
  • Haven’t been on here very much but I thought you might want to know that today I walked a little over 7 miles. About 1 mile into the walk I tried to run. I ran a little under a mile with no pain but I didn’t want to push it any further. The piriformis is still a little tight when I am stretching but getting better. All…
  • Got out this morning for a walk. My car was back in working order after about a month to get it fixed so I went into town so I could walk my favorite trails along the canal. I parked my car at the Cancer Center because when I got back from my walk I needed to drop of the crocheted afghans I made for the cancer patients.…
  • Today I finally got to walking. Been taking it easy with my hip. The piriformis is gradually less tight but still not there yet. I’ve been using a foam roller on the left hip and I think it’s helping too but I don’t know if I like it. I guess I was expecting a softer massage. I will get used to it. this months mileage…
  • For this month I will put in for 30 miles of walking. We will see how it goes. Hip is feeling a little better and I did a couple big walks last week that weren’t to painful.
  • Okay my day didn’t go as planned. I walked to the store which was a mile away because my car broke down. I had to get some things at the store. So I managed to do 2.5 miles today. I did stretches but most of the day I had been good friends with the heating pad. I was reading about foam rolling but the article suggest doing…
  • Okay update on my hip pain. Talked with Dr Zerr my sports medicine doctor and I won’t be running for awhile. Turns out my left hip pain is a very tight piriformis muscle. We decided that I am to walk 1 mile for a month and increase it by a half a mile every month. I’m also doing cross training with leg exercises and…
  • I’m not going to run this month. My hip is still bothering me. I rested the last couple days since I tried to run on Tuesday and couldn’t manage even a mile and it’s feeling better today. Before that I rested, did exercises and stretches for my legs and iced the hip per doctors orders for 2 weeks. He told me to start…
  • Okay Doctor report. I got lucky with getting a really nice and good doctor. His goal is to get a person back to healthy to reach your sporting goals. He examined me with pushing and pulling on my legs to see when it hurt and exactly where the pain was in my hip. He ruled out bursitis and said he needed to take X-rays to…
  • Okay scratch my last entry I am having pain now just sitting around. I got an appointment on Monday with a sports medicine doctor. Not going to mess with it anymore.
  • Good afternoon everyone. I started back with running. On Tuesday I tested the waters by running indoors by jogging in place. My Fitbit said I had gone 4.3 miles. Had no discomfort. This morning I went for a run outside and it was a little tender but I ran and but the pain stopped when I went for awhile. I stretched my hips…
  • I’m taking a break for a week due to hip pain. Hopefully the pain will go away. Is there anything I can do to help. I’m thinking I’ll do some yoga. I don’t want to over do it just something gentle. If the pain doesn’t go away with the week off I think I should go to the sports medicine doctor. I’m not sure if it’s a…
  • @AlphaHowls sorry I accidentally pressed the disagree button when I was scrolling. Sorry if it caused any upset.
  • Put me in for 40 miles this month.
  • Good morning everyone. Today’s training called for a tempo run. I warmed up by walking 5 minutes. Then I did 10 minutes conversational pace. Then 10 minutes tempo speed (for me it was not so fast but I tried my hardest to speed up a little). Then 10 minutes back to conversational pace. Ended with a 5 minute walk cool down.…
  • Today the training plan called for cross training for which was my usual brisk walk. I chose to walk the canal paths here in Yuma. The paths are nice because I don’t run into any traffic plus I get the added benefit of being in a pretty setting by the water. The solitude is nice. August totals 8/01 6.23 mile run 8/02 rest…
  • @martaindale Thank you for your input on warm ups. It’s much appreciated! @rheddmobile I have looked up the rocker squats you suggested. I will try to see if I can do them. Being older I find my balance going away but maybe it will help my balance too!
  • @WhatMeRunning I am sorry to hear that your foot is still bothering you. @Tramboman Glad to hear that your evaluation was good. @skippygirlsmom Thanks for sharing the picture of Champ. I love dogs but the last dog I had died in 2015 and I couldn’t go through that ever again. Thank you also for the warm up information.…
  • Good morning everyone. Sorry I have been MIA but I started to feel my shoulders and my neck were out of whack. It must have been the fall I took. So I rested for 4 days. I felt good this morning so I decided to get back at it. Today’s plan was a long run for 2 miles. It felt pretty good. When I checked my heart rate my…
  • Good morning everyone. Didn’t post yesterday but it was a cross training day. Walked with Leslie Sansone in the house with some boosted walking (gentle jog). According to my Fitbit I walked 4.93 miles. This morning got out early in the morning and surprisingly it was only 81 out with lower humidity. Today was a 30 minute…
  • Good morning everyone. Today training was a long run of 1.5 miles. Very short run. Weather was shot but finally no thunderstorms. Yesterday was a rest day which I needed after my fall on Saturday. Nothing except my hands were hurting me. They took the brunt of the fall. They are still a little tender and black and blue.…
  • Happy Saturday everyone! Today’s training was a 30 minute run with 5 minute cadence drill and 5 minute acceleration and gliders. There was a bad storm outside so I ran near my house. I waited until the rain was drizzling before I set out but the roads were flooded and it was extremely dark. Well I couldn’t see and I…
  • Thank God it’s Friday! Today was a cross training day so as usual I chose to walk. Extremely hot this morning it’s 88 with a feel like temperature of 95. Choose to walk close to my house so the miles I walked were back and forth by my house. August totals 8/01 6.23 miles run 8/02 rest 8/03 rest 8/04 6.24 miles walk 8/05…
  • @teresa502 yes 3:00 am here in Yuma, AZ is much better temperature wise between 85 to 92 degrees outside during the summer. When the sun comes up the temperature creeps up quickly to over 100. One of my most favorite Christian techno songs is Press Plays NY2LA right now. It really makes me move along faster.
  • Happy Thursday 😁 Today was a 30 minute run with 6 minutes cadence drill and 4 minutes acceleration and gliders. My top hr was 162 bpm which has come down from the 180 bpm. So I think my body is getting conditioned to running. I started running and after awhile I checked my pace and I was in the 10:00 so I slowed down so I…
  • Happy Wednesday everyone. Today for me was a cross training day. So as usual I choose to walk the length of a 10K to get my body conditioned for the length of the 10K. Last night Yuma had a dust storm and flash flood warnings and the storms were starting to die down at 3:00. So I didn’t dare drive out there in that mess.…
  • Good Tuesday morning everyone. Had a day of rest yesterday. Today’s called to run 1.0 miles at long run pace which for me turned out to be 13:00 pace. That’s 1 minute faster then last week. Noticing that my muscular makeup in my legs is changing. I am more muscular in my thighs. More solid definition in muscles and less…
  • Good morning. Today training called for an easy walk. I kept my pace at a 20 minute mile. I don’t know why it felt so much harder going slower but it was a chore. It could be that I was listening to an audio book instead of music and that made me less energetic. Do you guys listen to things to keep your mind occupied while…
  • Good morning everyone. I woke up this morning with a headache and wondered if I could get myself out to do my planned training run. Well I gritted my teeth and went out for it. I took my running slow and easy. I felt like I was moving in slow motion but I did it and felt better for it. Plus my headache is long gone and I’m…
  • @teresa502 that’s crazy and here I thought I was going fast. Lol
