Why do you think that working out makes it difficult for you to 'burn fat'? Is that because your weight goes up after exercise? If so, that's normal, and nothing to do with actual weight gain. Rather it's about the way that all our bodies repair themselves after working out - we retain water to help the muscles self-heal.…

I started C25 for the first time weighing 120kg. That's a lot of fat girl. I shared your concerns, but really they were unfounded. Especially in the early days of running, nobody seemed to notice or care. Just get out and get on with it. In 6 weeks time, you'll be running a continuous 30minutes, and that's more than most…

Sleep is actually good for weightloss. If you're tired and stressed, your cortisol levels rise, and it's harder to lose weight in that state. Rest if you need it. Just make sure you're active for some of the day, every day, too.

Assume you're a psychologist. Me too. Feel free to add me if you want.

I had hoped to make my understanding of the study's limitations reasonably clear by the quite specific choice of wording. That said, it is not a mere 'data point', nor is it true that researchers can make data say whatever they feel like. A good journal, with good quality peer review, is just one safeguard against that…

No. Because this is a schematic representation.... not actually real.

Healthy BMI. What's the issue? You probably need to work out, rather than to lose more weight.
-
You need to understand what your BMR is, and what sedentary means. Your BMR is what you would need to maintain your bodyweight if you literally stayed in bed all day. I assume you do not in fact stay in bed all day? In which case 'sedentary' isn't for you. Lightly active will be just fine. We all want to lose weight fast.…

It's rare that anyone is truly 'sedentary'. MFP will calculate your deficit from your BMR if you use the sedentary setting. Most of us are at least lightly active. If you're not spending your life on the couch, tick that box. See how you're going after a week or so, and then adjust as needed. If you stick with sedentary…

After 30 years as a vegetarian, I've recently re-introduced fish. In terms of digestion, it was completely unproblemmatic. But I find it hard to eat, and there are only a few kinds that, emotionally, I can handle. (I know, it's silly, nobody has to jump on here to tell me....) Other friends who have reintroduced meat have…

Sounds like a sprain, but obviously can't judge that over t'interweb. Couple of days rest maybe and if it doesn't feel better, see a doc. I wouldn't push through pain.

mickeymaggie, I know that's received wisdom, but it's actually just not true. Your metabolism won't be affected negatively by not being 'kickstarted' with breakfast. It just doesn't work that way. (There's plenty of research on this, if you want to confirm it - search google scholar.) To the OP, if you're not hungry in the…

No. Take your sedentary cals off first. I normally work to about 60% of burnt cals, when I'm working out properly.
-
..... spell 'dentata'?
-
Dude! Do you even run? :)
-
OK. I don't see how this makes sense. You have a more accurate way to estimate (via a HRM). And presumably you understand you can create your own exercise listings, so that the site will estimate based on previous HRM readings, for days you can't be bothered strapping the HRM on. But you'd still prefer the site to put up…

After a month or two's lay off with lifting, I normally drop down one notch, to my next but one highest weight for each lift. (So for instance, if I'm benching 110 lb at the point of layoff, and my previous highest weight was 100lb, I re-start with 100lb, rather than 110.) That's normally enough for me, but really it's…

guys you can add your own activities. pilates and yoga burn about the same and are both in the database. finally.... chances are, the app developers aren't reading this thread....

I suspect in your real life, much of the communication is in grunts?
-
The corn ones are so much yummier too. :)

Regular calorie intake (not net). under a thousand cals. (800 yesterday. 600 day before.) Yeah. Walking is not your issue.
-
I walk more than that just taking my daughter to school.... You are walking a little more than the average couch bound American. But that isn't much. I think you should look elsewhere for sources of exhaustion. Like nutrition. (And get your vit stores checked, especially vit b.) Humans are adapted to walk a lot each day.…

I'm still trying really hard to understand what it was on this thread that was likely to terrify the menfolk.
-
Um. Read his profile. He's lost more than 100lb. You... ? Ad hom helps no-one. This site is packed full of people who lost by cardio and deficit. Lifting and deficit. Deficit all by itself. I think most of us can agree that a blend of lifting and cardio, with calorie control, is the way to lose weight and improve health. I…

It's a fitness instructor, right? Not a fatloss instructor. If they're fit, and they know their subject, what does it matter if they're carrying extra weight?
-
What 'other stuff' did you want?
-
Yup, about 10kg / 20ish lbs. Depends how big you are though. If you've only got a few pounds to lose, 10lb is massive.
-
Sensible and measured response.

I have. Does that make my viewpoint more or less valid? this is a silly argument. A few weeks of better sugar is NOT controlled diabetes. It's slightly more managed diabetes. There's a massive difference. And she should do this for what? So the OP can say she can? Half marathons are a dime a dozen. There are loads of…
-
Presumably you didn't do this with uncontrolled diabetes though? OP, running is amazing. But don't risk your health for it. Get your diabetes back under control. Get a proper training plan under your belt. Book in for a different race. All the gungho people telling you to go for it likely know sweet f* a* about diabetes.
