  • I'd love to join this discussion! I was vegan for around 6 months and really enjoyed it, but life took over and it seems really difficult to get going again. Especially as I am catering for lots of others in a household where everyone eats meat, no one likes lentils and I don't like cooking!
  • I stopped drinking alcohol 3 years ago. There are some occasions I miss it, mainly celebrations (getting married!) or as a special treat, so if I'm in those situations, I reflect carefully and if I still want the drink, I do grant myself a glass of whatever. I think if I didn't, it would feel too restrictive, and I'd go…
  • Hello - do you mind if I join this thread, please? I'm Claire, I've just posted a long waffly post somewhere else about getting back to MFP after some challenges this year. I'm 48 and trying to get back to being fit and healthy again. Just to say, I'm British, and I LOVE pancakes at literally any time of the year. I also…
  • I've been AWOL for a few days - life is crazily busy! I am making myself check back in and recommit. Just for today, I will Plan a healthy lunch Drink enough water Won't eat chocolate or ice-cream Will do my work Will run with the club later. Even though it's uphill, and I won't feel like it by 6pm. Also - I will sort the…
  • Hey Donidaily - great to see you checking back in. I'm also checking back in after a few days of anything goes. Life is just really busy! When I'm on my own, I'm fine and in control, but I'm a few months in to a new blended family situation, I was married in April and we have brought together our respective children. 4…
  • I can’t believe you have to endure abuse like this. That’s really sad.
  • Hey @donidaily - sorry I didn’t spot your posts! Still finding my way around using these boards and seeing when people have posted is obviously on my “skills to learn” list. Sounds like you’ve had some ups and downs, but I’m impressed you’ve recommitted and still managed to post and acknowledge how it’s going. When that…
  • @Antiopelle I don't seem to be able to add anyone as a friend, so I'll just have to settle with posting. Frozen shoulder is a nightmare. Mine resolved just over a year ago (the acute pain part, at least) with an injection. I've been left with restricted movement and it sticks out at odd angles, and it's really weak.…
  • JFT I will.. Stick to the plan! @pridesabtch I definitely can't see any option to add you (or indeed anyone) as a friend. Clearly not earned my MFP stars yet!
  • @pridesabtch i can’t work out how to add you, either! I’ll try again tomorrow! Pleased to say I NAILED today whoop! Planned all my food Didn’t eat a tonne of crap Life didn’t end! And I had a fab run today, 6.7 miles.. chasing the fast boys for most of it. Nearly killed myself but hung on, just about. Then had to phone my…
  • Hi there, I am a serial MFP lurker looking to get more active in the MFP online community! I'm almost 48, just wondering whether you mind if I join this board? I am 5'8, 65kg with a goal weight of 60kg, I am pretty active, run and cycle a lot, but I don't really eat very well all the time. A lot of stress/boredom eating…
  • Hello! I am a serial MFP lurker but looking to get more involved with the community boards for motivation and support.. I am 5'8 and about 65kg, goal weight is 60kg hence username. I am a regular runner and cyclist but really struggle with emotional/boredom eating.. I've been reading James Clear's Atomic Habits looking at…
  • Hi all, I'm a serial MFP lurker looking to get a bit more involved in the community for motivation and support. Do you mind if I join this group? About me - based in the UK, I am 5'8, about 65kg, goal weight is 60kg. I am a regular runner and cyclist so very happy to talk about those topics if that's helpful to anyone!…
  • Checking back in - I couldn't work out how to add you @donidaily but I will try again! Well done for resisting the pizza... that's a definite win. And stairs are a small but big thing too. Little changes are the way forward, I think!
  • Hi Donidaily.. I'm just venturing back myself after a very long break. I would love to find accountability partners too. I will add you, if that's ok!
  • My partner snores; I use Mack's or Deep Sleeps silicone earplugs. I'm a really light sleeper but after a lot of experimentation, these are the ones that work for me. I thought it would be a dealbreaker when we got together but it's just not an issue any more.
  • Hi, newbie here, could I join you for this round, please? I'm Claire, 47, from the UK. 5'8 and trying to eat more healthily, mainly drastically reducing sugar which is my go-to stress relief. The next 10 days is going to be a stressful time workwise so looking for a focus to stay on track! Then holidays from the 26th…
  • Got in the pool and actually managed to swim. Sounds like nothing, but I've had debilitating L shoulder pain since last November (frozen shoulder). Tried the pool once earlier this year - a complete no-starter.. I could barely raise my arm without pain, let alone swim with it. Just over a month post-steroid injection and I…
  • @Djproulx well, that video motivated me enough to get back in the pool today for the first time in..... a very long time! Thank you!
  • Hey @cwolfman13 - really interesting to hear your journey. I’ve been stuck (am stuck) between knowing I can’t do it all yet not wanting to let it go. Plus I have a new partner now, I would always choose a walk or an easy MTB ride with him over a 50 mile club run! It really is hard to strike the right balance, I’ve been…
  • Easy 5k run this morning across the fields. Although didn’t feel very easy really. Then a bike ride this afternoon, found some hills and huffed and puffed my way up them.. was fab!
  • Hi runners! I’m a runner and cyclist, just coming out of 10 weeks enforced no running due to knee injury. Steroid injection scheduled for knee on Weds so hoping to pick up again slowly. I’m an old MFP-er but this is a new profile for me. Consequently v happy to pick up new running buddies for mutual support and…
  • Hi @AnnPT77 - thanks for replying. I tried sea kayaking for the first time off the Isle of Skye last summer and really enjoyed it! My partner and I were definitely inspired to do more.. (he actually ended up building his own wooden kayak - a flat pack type affair! ). I have stand up paddleboards too so tend to do that with…
  • @sijomial thank you for your comment, too. I'm reflecting on it. I think I've definitely been missing a focus, and a deadline. I do use Zwift and found a real drive in going up a race category early last year, it's also super-easy for me to fit in before kids, work and general day-to-day madness. Lots to think about.. I'll…
  • @Djproulx I think I love you. I mean. Not literally.. but a full Ironman has been a dream for years, but not realistic. But 70.3.. that gets me excited! Can't tell you how helpful it was just to hear you reflecting my situation back to me. I really appreciate you taking the time to do that.. thank you!
  • Thanks @Djproulx - interesting to hear I'm not alone! Your times are not far off mine. I have toyed with triathlon, managed a few sprint triathlons - used to be in a club where I previously lived. Sadly, the nearest tri club to my new town trains 30 mins away. I am currently a member, but driving half an hour for a swim…
  • Thanks Littlegreenparrot! I love trail running, but since moving to a new town a few years ago I’m pretty limited to running around the streets. I do miss it! Have dabbled with triathlon, I’m not a great swimmer but maybe that could be a renewed focus. Walking is a great idea - an amazing way to see the great outdoors. So…
  • I plucked up the courage to join a cycling club on a workout they call (I’m sure inappropriately) a chain gang. Eight riders riding two abreast, taking turns on the front moving clockwise. You have to come off the back and chase the man in front (and it was men, I was the only woman) and stick on their wheel until you…
  • I can’t work out how to add you! But feel free to send me a friend request. 😊
