  • Yes, if it's new or special! Otherwise, it's part of how you choose your activity level. So if you're on your feet for an hour, it could change from sedentary, for example, depending on how much else you move in a day. Or if someone is completely sedentary except for cleaning, I'd probably be tempted to choose sedentary…
  • My hunger is very often the kind where I'm going to have to lie down :( I make sure to eat something, because it gets uglier the longer I leave it, but man it doesn't help with dieting, that's for sure! I don't even enjoy whatever I have to eat when I feel that way. I feel sick and dizzy and out of it and gross. I did…
  • As long as you aren't eating over maintenance *for your goal weight*, you'll still lose. It might be slow to very slow, but you'll lose it.
  • I started at the very end of January, have cut at least 300 calories a day (except 3 days that still didn't exceed maintenance). I'm very proud of that! But I've gained up to two lbs, smh. I'm still waiting to see the numbers go down.
  • It's almost certainly dieting related. I have extra fat stores and do this, too when dieting at even a small deficit. I don't know that we're the same at all, but it's another possibility: I am super sensitive to large blood glucose drops and get a non-dangerous form of "hypo"glycemia. I always have. It is dangerous for…
  • Yes, it has to! As long as you can tell you are eating less than before and you move at least as much as before, it'll happen 🙂🙂 I just "gained" a couple of lbs that are completely fake. There's no way it's possible. It's my muscles storing fuel from using them more. It'll go away within a few weeks. I feel like saying…
  • (quote removed by staff) What is funny? PCOS stands for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. It has hormonal consequences severe enough to affect fertility and grow male facial hair. One of the hormones it affects is insulin. The Glycemic Index can be very helpful for people who have insulin problems, like diabetics, etc, for…
  • I really do have zero shame about saying menopause is harder. Because it's harder for me, lol! I have to be more on top of things than I used to. And it's slower. And I'm actually pretty hungry a lot of the time, for real (I know that goes away). But the only thing I can't deal with is "impossible". "Harder" happens all…
  • I like to physically leave the food I'm not supposed to have in a different room. If I get too hungry later, I can eat carrots or something, which I have near me. I don't have to do that forever. But I'm especially hungry as I start out and on random days! I think my stomach will shrink as I go; I've heard it literally…
  • This gets me, especially at first, which is where I am again now (new to menopause and it apparently changed my metabolism some)! This time I'm writing down a "paper" weight loss for how many calories I know I've saved. I know I did that, and it was hard! So I add those up and celebrate that. Then I have my regular scale…
  • It's excellent that your doctor is thinking seriously about this. After my normal yoga started getting very hard for no reason, I noticed a high heart rate problem. I had to 'fire' one doc who did zero about it. I mean, I couldn't do my normal things and he didn't bother with it at all! The second doc, a specialist, found…
  • Hi, I'm new! 🙂 Great advice above. I personally think you'll feel better and have more energy at the full, real 1200 a day. That's definitely what I would do. You are at the low end of recommended calories and then going below that with exercise otherwise, I think. Maybe try it out and see what you think.
  • It's definitely harder! That hit me like a ton of bricks when 30lbs flew on and wouldn't budge off. It's crazy. I finally figured out the combo of things that works for me. It's not really that much different, but man do I have to do it! Sometimes you just have to do it. If you're like me, you've noticed getting out of…
  • It's probably why I'm back here, lol. 30lbs jumped on me doing the same things that used to keep my weight stable 😳 On that front, I've figured out that I need to exercise, but I don't get those calories anymore. Then I need to count calories to make sure I don't eat too much. That's all ok. Anxiety became an enormous…
  • I'm shooting for a lb every 11-12 days (give or take). I'm looking to lose 30, maybe 35lbs. ---I'm at -1 on Feb 5 🙂 On paper. Now mine's this strict on paper with good logging. I know the scale can take a while for me or jump around. So I have a "paper number" and a scale number.
  • Pilates type of stuff. "Floor work" that's not Pilates is my favorite. I use random moves from old workouts from over the years. But try a few from YouTube with that keyword or something. They're actually pretty fun! Full disclosure: Pilates itself is the least fun, if you ask me 😉
  • My "In 5 weeks" is always way too optimistic on the time frame. My calorie allowance is good and works, just not ever in that timespan. Maybe you're slow, too? There's probably a setting we can change, but I've used mine before and like it. I just have to ignore that message that pops up.
  • I just know I have to log. If I don't, I veer off course enough to put on a lot of weight! My normal appetite and food choices makes me a good 30lbs higher weight than I like to be. I'm starting over now, aamof. I've lost 1 lb so far 🙂
