  • I dealt with your situation several years ago. Getting outside for some exercise really helped me. I also found that taking a 'safe food' every where I went really helped. I took an orange, takes time to peel, has fiber, not too many calories. If I felt hungry I ate the orange rather than grabbing junk food. Going to a…
  • I agree with Tom. Everyone is in a hurry to lose weight but it's better to lose slowly, it takes time. Don't weigh every week, instead set a longer term goal, at least a month away and weigh then. My goal is 10 pounds by Dec. 1 and I started 3 weeks ago.
  • Hello. I'm also trying to limit alcohol so thought I would add my tips. Some people can't just drink sporadically, they have to quit completely. Another poster pointed this out. I guess you have to decide if you are in that group. I enjoy alcohol but don't drink much anymore. I actually limit myself to cocktails once a…
  • I've been in the position of traveling a lot, eating big restaurant meals, or buffets in business meetings. It takes effort to turn all of that down for healthy options. If you are traveling, take some foods that don't need to be prepared. Flavored tuna pouches, celery sticks, string cheese, and fruit. I always carry an…
  • I just finished reading all your posts and a lot of it sounds familiar. You say you want to make changes but then add road blocks as to why you can't. You are right about one thing. Something has to change in your mind. You have to snap! It happened to me in August while on a trip. I could not keep up with the walking, I…
  • I'm sorry. Maybe I'm just clueless but I couldn't find a way to add you as a friend.
  • I'm glad you had some success with supplements. I used hormone replacement for 20 years after surgically induced menopause. I loved it. I was normal! Now that I have stopped the hormones I have insomnia, hot flashes and night sweats constantly. I started Ambien a few months ago and it helps but nothing else has. For many,…
  • Hello! Welcome. Just wanted to wish you much luck in staying the course. I'm on an apparently slow weight loss journey so I need a boost now and then. I think I finally lost a pound today. I've been here about two months with little weight loss. I stick to my diet most days but haven't started exercising yet. I got out of…
  • I'm using only the free app version. It seems to do everything I need. I just want a mindful way to track my calories. I did WW years ago before they were online and lost 50 pounds. Now I'm starting over. I also use the Samsung food app for recipes. So if you find saving recipes is helpful you might try it or a similar app.
  • I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to do, but I use the Samsung Food app to save recipes. You do need a URL to save but there are also lots of recipes in the app. If you are trying to save recipes from inside the MFP app I haven't found out how to do that. If you don't have the Samsung app available there should be…
  • I'm 5' 1" and want to lose 50 pounds. I'm also over the hill so that makes it harder. I did it at age 50, but the weight has slowly crept back. I'm feeling less mobile lately and can't even keep up with friends my own age. Probably my last chance to get healthy and enjoy life.
  • Yes. I'm over 70 and trying to lose about 50 pounds. I've done it before 20 years ago, and it really wasn't hard at 50. I stuck to it then and I think the secret was small goals and consistency in logging meals. My weight has been slowly creeping up over the years and when I retired 5 years ago I gave up on eating healthy…
  • I don't want to wear clothes with an 'X' next to the size....XL, 1X, 2X...where will it end? I was very slim as a young person and I am tired of being the fat one at every gathering. I just want to walk into a store and go to the normal size section and buy some clothes that fit and look good. Very shallow, but I don't…
  • Don't get discouraged, if you are working out and gaining strength it's probably due to increased muscle mass, so your weight may increase or stay the same. I don't weigh weekly since I know my scale probably isn't very accurate. I'm going with monthly weighings plus how my clothes fit. And my real goal is to be able to…
  • I understand your predicament. I don't have two cocktails daily but I do enjoy cocktails with friends one day weekly at lunch, and a couple on weekends. I don't know what you usually drink, but have you thought about a lower calorie version? The last time I was on a weight loss journey I switched from wine to a spritzer…
  • Hello, Just getting started here and trying to figure everything out. My short term goal is to lose 10 pounds by November. I've done this before with WW, but this time I'm just using online tools. I plan to read forums as often as I can to keep motivated. I find short term goals are better for my weight loss. I don't want…
