  • Hello ladies over 50. I'd like to join your group please. I've been on MFP a couple of times but haven't been here in several years. Two ladies that I work with just joined WW and they inspired me to get back to healthier eating. I've lost 6 lbs. in the last two weeks. I will be away on vacation 4 days to Maine with a…

  • Hello everyone, I'd like to join this group if that's ok. I'm 52, live in CT, need to lose at least 60 lbs. Married, work full time, have two kids 23 and 25. Just finished my first week of dieting although I first joined MFP many years ago.
  • hello ladies, I started walking today with my new pedometer. I reached 10,000 steps today and will try to do that at least 4 times a week. It wasn't easy and my heel hurts like heck, but it was a good start. I'm going to invest in a wok because I want to start making more stir fry dishes. Does anyone have a favorite recipe…
  • Hello, I'd like to join this group. I'm 48 with about 60 lbs. to lose (pic from a few years ago). I sent a bunch of you friend requests, if i missed anyone, feel free to friend me. I am married with two kids in college and I work full time. I've done MFP before but just on my phone. I'm hoping this group will encourage me…
  • maybe try sauteing the veggies in low sodium chicken broth...or veggie broth if you're not eating meat.
  • Ha ha! My daughter and I play that song in the car every time we head to the thrift shop!
  • Hi, after doing the step-by-step instructional dvd a couple of times try the "activate" dvd with verbal cues. Even if you can't do the full 45 minutes...just do the first 20+ minutes and don't worrry about screwing up the steps, you'll get it eventually. I've done the same dvd several times stopping at 20 or 30 minutes…

  • Hi Mel, I'm Maureen, soon to be 46 and I also have approximately 70 lbs to lose. I did MFP about a year and a half ago with some success but got lazy. I'm doing it again hopefully for the long haul this time around. I actually started logging my food in Jan 6th but I usually do it via my phone. When I get a chance to get…
  • ok, not my favorite but I just heard it recently, I'm paraphrasing because I have a bad memory! A rich business man decided to make a huge life change and bought an animal farm. Soon after, it rained for days on end and a poor little newly hatched chick got stuck in an awful mud hole. The animals all tried to help so the…
  • HI, I recently watched the 90 minute youtube video called "Sugar: The bitter truth". It's very interesting and has over 3 million views so far. It gets very detailed and tedious toward the middle, but the doctor tells you to bare with him and it was very informative.
  • today I'm having bowtie pasta with a ton of roasted veggies (leftover from last nights dinner). I made a full pound of pasta and two big cookies sheets full of vggies so my daughter and I will probably each have 5 servings of this over the next few days. I posted the recipe but I don't think it worked....if you're…
  • Started around Jan 5th I think and have lost 17.2 lbs and have gone from shoving myself into my fattest clothing to fitting into them normally now. I am also able to fit into a pair of jeans that I couldnt even come close to buttoning in December.
  • I agree with the others, 11 lbs in 7 weeks is a great accomplishment. I've lost 17.2 lbs in 11 weeks which is just over 1.5 lbs per week and I have stayed within my caloric intake and have been hiking/walking almost every day or after work for at least an hour. I'm almost 45 and have a similar amount of weight to lose. I…
  • I'm trying to ignore the box of donuts in the next office. I think if I avoid them all day I'll get a few chocolate covered strawberries for my daughter and I (the two who are dieting in our house). My daughter did bake this past weekend for community service hours to make her confirmation and I did eat two of the sugar…
  • I had a great easy sandwich last night for dinner. I toasted an English Muffin, spread a wedge of garlic/herb Laughing Cow Cheese on one side, added 3 slices of buffalo chicken from the deli counter, lettuce and some red hot sauce....235 calories and DE-licious!! Mon-Fri I eat oatmeal at work for breakfast and keep…
  • lot of good answers, we have fine taste!! I'll add Jude Law
  • And how could I have possibly forgotten.... the one I bought for my 15 year old daughter several months ago that she can't stop talking about......To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee (the best or one of the best stories I've ever read)
  • Current Fiction: I also highly recommend The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. I aso read the Hunger Games (young adult) Book 1 was ok but I wasn't thrilled, are Books 2 and 3 any better, I might read them...Book 1 wasn't bad just a bit dragged out in parts I thought Light and fun I would recommend anything by…
  • I second the idea of making a big batch of soup at the weekend. That way you always have something to turn to when you're hungry...I took it twice for lunch this week. If you don't like to cook, try stocking up on some Progresso Light soups or buy some tuna in cans that you can open by hand. I also keep Lean Cuisines or…
  • I loved Kite Runner and I'm trying to get my daughter to read it soon. When you're with Kite Runner, read his other book A Thousand Splendid Suns, almost as good as his first.
