Feel free to add me! I could use the accountability, and our goals are similar (would love to lose about 50 pounds by my birthday in October, but am really focusing on health, fitness, and building sustainable habits).

I "track" my sugar, but that involves looking at the sources and why i went over for the day. if i eat fruits and vegetables all day, and go over my sugar without having anything processed, i don't sweat it. example: If I eat some chopped tomatoes in my salad at lunch, and some baby carrots with hummus as an afternoon…

change your settings to just lose 1 lb/week for a week. this will give you more calories. honestly, if you're working out so regularly, and you're still more than 200 pounds, you can eat more food than 12-1300 cals. it IS totally frustrating to have been losing so fast and then to stop with what should be a substantial…

This right here. Diary speaks for itself.

I looked at your diary. i can see many days when you are eating little/no fruits veggies, and most of your foods are processed. so in the short term, i would say that you are retaining water due to TOM and sodium intake. processed foods have tons of sodium. It is certainly possible to lose weight eating chocolate and pizza…

I also like to relax on the weekends. I don't tend to track then, either. "relaxing" sometimes includes alcohol, sometimes includes fast food, sometimes includes home-cooked "comfort" foods, etc. I am sure I will re-evaluate this strategy once my weight loss slows/stops. I can think of a few things you can try,…

I only count plain unflavored water, but I enjoy other beverages throughout my day (tea, coffee, the occasional CL, milk). I think this helps me get more hydrated overall, as these other beverages contain water above and beyond my goal of 10 cups/day. Also, I think the exercise of drinking a plain, unflavored liquid…

My current favorite is realizing how much food i actually get to enjoy, if i'm careful with my choices. Sure, it's horrifying to log what an old-school fast food meal might have looked like. However, when you eat veggies and fruits and proteins and healthy fats and drink lots of water, you get to eat a volume of food that…

my medical reason is that my mother is a type-II diabetic. i want to avoid sugar because i am unsure of how my pancreas will behave long-term, and so i want to learn a sugar-moderate way to eat. Also, sugar and carbs (at least the starchy or processed ones) are big overeating triggers for me. so that's why i'm avoiding…

I've got about 40 pounds i want to lose, too. add me!

i worry about my water and macros for quality-of-life reasons, but i expect to continue losing so long as i keep my calories in check. i don't follow the guidelines set by MFP: I aim to go over on protein and fiber, and to stay under on sodium, carbs, and sugar. I don't track fat, i just get it from a variety of sources…

Just going from today's diary, there are a lot of foods you are eating that aren't giving you much "bang" for your buck. trying to swap out for bulkier, higher-water, higher-protein, higher-fiber foods might help. instead of 70 cals in coffee creamer, could you give yourself an egg fried inside a bell pepper ring. that…

spamantha57, I WAS manning up, by trying to figure out what to eat for the rest of the day. Like I said, i know i need to avoid processed food. This was less about "oh no, what food has a lot of sodium that i already ate (effing duh!) and more about "how do i fit 800 more calories into my diary without destroying my sodium…

1. you have not tracked the cheese wrap thing, so i don't know how many calories it had. unless it was ~400 cals, you have extra cals to use (so use 'em). make a salad with some leat meat in it, and chow down. then have a decaf tea. 2. you have had less than half as much protein as you did the previous day. you also took…

I struggle with this constantly. a few thoughts that have helped me: Carbs are a huge problem for me. if i have something savory and carby in the house (pasta leftovers, crackers, chips, etc.) then i am risking making some POOR food choices. Same thing with dried fruit (apparently i'm not picky haha.) It's carbs both…

I think it's weird that you justify not tracking by saying "i don't have time, i don't even have time for this post, i need to be studying" but you're willing to add hours to your gym time to be able to eat whatever you want. I think you should call a spade a spade. It sounds (to me) like you want to eat crap because…

I do not, but here is why: It is not that caffeinated drinks dehydrate you (sure caffeine is a diuretic, but there is more than enough water in the tea to cancel out the amount of water the caffeine will pull out). It's not that i think tea has calories, or is "bad". Tea is great. Thing is, i'm learning to drink WATER.…

As you lose weight, the fat around your ribs will recede, too. So you may not see as huge a decrease as you are worried about. Also, build your pectoral muscles. having a firm pectoral floor will "lift" your assets and fill them out better. Ultimately, there is no way you can "spot preserve" the fat on your breasts. Just…

Thanks for the replies. It is somewhat of a big jump, but i have been spending time with someone who religiously carries a water bottle, and he started bringing one for me when we hang out. So the good habit sort of snowballed (typing this has inspired me to thank him for the good habit) For what it's worth, I have noticed…

Thanks, guys. Will it help with weight loss, or just general "you'll feel better" type stuff? what about water retention? will i look slimmer drinking water than i were drinking the same amount of diet soda? I ask because i already had good skin. I drink things like milk sometimes (also I eat soups and make protein…

Can you just take a mouthful of water and swallow it? i know it might not be delicious, but it's water, so it shouldn't be leaving a bad taste in your mouth or anything. Flavored things help (crystal light, Mio, etc.) but it's best to get used to a little plain water. that way the other things are like treats instead of…

I looked at your diary: Eat more protein and less sugar/carbs from grains! you never get enough protein. i am a bottomless pit if eat too much sugar or bread/pasta. on days i have eggs with spinach and cheese for breakfast, chicken salad lettuce wraps for lunch, fruit and veg with hummus, and steak with grilled pepper and…

Sorry, OP, nobody can offer meaningful advice without seeing your diary to know what you are currently eating. It sounds like you don't want to do that, so.....

Breadoholic, thank you for the advice. I agree that your course of action would likely be immensely helpful. Unfortunately, I do not have health inusrance and cannot afford such treatment at this time. I have, to some extent, alleviated this issue by distracting myself in the evenings. I also find that, the less carbs i…

I do not think coffee is bad for you. I think coffee drinks that are mostly milkshakes are pretty bad for you. Coffee is very-low calorie (3-5cal in a cup of black coffee) and helps break up the monotony of other low-cal drinks. it is hot and it gives you energy. I also find that it helps me not eat if i am in an "in…

Thank you everyone for your replies. Some thoughts: 1) I will definitely try to increase my water consumption. that is a good goal regardless. 2) I will definitely try to make myself go to bed sooner. Most of the time i am eating, I shouldn't even be awake. 3) I have made a commitment to visit an OA meeting this weekend. I…

LoraF83, even saving calories won't help. if i start eating that late, I just don't stop at the right time. I have even tried shifting all my meals so that my regular dinner is later in an attempt to just schedule my eating for when it is already happening. Again, i lose control and overdo things.

I am surprised i haven't seen this here, but FOOD PANTRY!!! google for one near you, or call some nearby churches. this is exactly what they are here for, keeping families well-fed and healthy. even if you're settling for boxed products there, that still frees up EBT funds to make healthier purchases. Similarly, you might…
