Water??

Just wondering if I should be counting my 2 cups of Tetley tea that I drink each day towards my water for the day? I have not been doing this, but am having trouble getting 8 glasses of water in a day in addition to the 2 cups of tea? What do you all do?

It really depends on how you want to track your diet.
Personally for me, my liquid intake is important, but unless it has calories, I don't really pay much attention to it. I suggest you can add your tea into your diary and see what it says- but tea usually does not have much calories to it so don't worry if you end up skipping a day or two on recording that...
I also find it hard drinking 8 glasses of water a day. I don't know how to increase my level of water intake except for drinking Propel Zero (which I've heard has a lot of really bad artificial ingredients in it, but the flavors are so addicting I can't stop!). So if you come across any advice, I'd be happy to hear it!0 -
Water is my downfall. Don't drink nearly enough everyday.0

8 glasses of water is just a guide. There's nothing magical or scientifically significant about 8 glasses.
Drinking lots of fluid is good. Waters the best, but other fluids, allowing for sugar, aspartame, caffeine etc are ok.0 -
As long as you're hydrated, it really doesn't matter. I don't even track it as I am always hydrated...though I do consume more than my 8 cups per day. I know this because I have a 24 oz water bottle that I drink and refill about 5-6 times per day.0

There is water in pretty much anything you will consume, and especially in liquids (even milk). You don't have to consume straight water for it to count. Your body does a wonderful job of filtering stuff out of the water it needs and putting it to use.0

You should count it toward your water intake. Just be sure to add the tea into your diary as well. The tea is only a water enhancement.0

I do not, but here is why:
It is not that caffeinated drinks dehydrate you (sure caffeine is a diuretic, but there is more than enough water in the tea to cancel out the amount of water the caffeine will pull out). It's not that i think tea has calories, or is "bad". Tea is great. Thing is, i'm learning to drink WATER.
Given the opportunity, I will NEVER drink plain water. I knew better than to drink my calories, but I am still a stickler for diet coke, crystal light, etc. i know the jury is still out on whether things like diet soda and crystal light hinder weight loss, but they cost money and tend to make me feel entitled to having flavor in my mouth all day. So plain water is something i decided i needed to learn to drink.
I still drink tea and coffee and even the occasional diet soda. But i add it to my food log and i don't add the liquid to my water count. on those days, i guess i'm a little extra-hydrated.
So no, i don't count my tea as water. it's not that it isn't hydrating (it is, just like raw veggies are hydrating). It's that i'm trying to think of my tea as a treat that substitutes for food, and not a treat that substitutes for water. Otherwise, i'll never learn to drink water.
I had a problem getting my water at first, too. I found that if i just MADE myself chug a glass first thing in my day (and last thing before i went to bed), that i managed just fine.0
