  • You can lose weight without specific exercise, if necessary. I know, because this is my situation also, due to injury. The objective is to achieve a healthy defecit between your total daily energy expenditure versus the calories you consume, and even for those with a sedentary lifestyle this can be achieved, and can still…

  • I'm a bit like this too - I don't mind close relatives or friends noticing and complimenting me as I am happy to talk openly to them about it, but I really dislike it when acquaintances, work colleagues or distant relatives ask me this. It makes me uncomfortable. Even where they originally intend it to be complimentary I…
  • I followed an approach similar to this when I was a member of 'slimming world' diet club in the UK some years back. On the plan I followed you were basically allowed to eat as much lean protein (beef, chicken, eggs, fish, pork etc) as you wanted. The plan distinguished between 'good carbs' (fruit and most veg) which you…
  • Hi there, anyone in this situation, feel free to add me too! I started dieting one week before I re-joined MFP back at the start of June. Back then I had 104 lbs to drop, now I have 87 to go. I have been through a serious weight loss journey before, but now I need to do it again (and keep it off this time!)

  • Correct - the title is misleading, it's not only about the breakfast! :-) It's probably something you need to read to experience, but it helped me enormously last time I embarked on a massive weight loss exercise. It heaped me to realize how I'd gotten myself into that situation and how to get out of it.
  • Hi there, I think that moving to a different location hasn't helped me either. I'm not very happy with my new home town where I moved end of last year but there is no prospect of moving for the next 5 years and if I carry on like this I will end up being 50 stone :-( I do admire your having launched into exercise right…
  • Hi shockerchik, I agree with the shock of using this tool to calorie count after a long period of not keeping track - have been asking myself if I can REALLY have racked up 1200 kcals so quickly! This is going to take a week or two to get used to, and like you I am in it for the long haul. Best of luck with your journey.
