.....that I have to tackle my drastic weight gain this year and I happened across this site which I like very much - calorie counting is a tried and tested method for me, but who would have thought that the counting part could be so easy?

Now I just have to focus on the really hard part - the actual losing :-)

I know I can do it, but I feel quite depressed and angry with myself - no-one else is responsible for the situation I find myself in, and it's going to be a long journey. I am dreading going on holiday next month because I hate going anywhere the way I am now :-(

I know that as I start to lose weight my mood will lift in leaps and bounds, so I'm really looking forward to making that happen. Would love to hear from anyone in a similar situation.

  • I feel like I am in a similar position. I just moved to a new city a month ago and I started feeling so depressed I didn't want to really leave the house. My apt. complex has a free membership with the local club, and I was too sad to go there. I finally made it up in my mind that no one put the fat here but me and that it wasn't going to magically come off either.

I just started working out at the gym last week and I have been there everyday. I have a lot of weight to lose, but I am really determined now to do everything I can to get fit.

I do know that since I've been working out, I feel so much better. I don't have that same depressed feeling I had a couple of weeks ago. I've never tried calorie counting before, and I am really excited to find new ways to eat and better my nutrition.
  • Hi there, I think that moving to a different location hasn't helped me either. I'm not very happy with my new home town where I moved end of last year but there is no prospect of moving for the next 5 years and if I carry on like this I will end up being 50 stone :-(

I do admire your having launched into exercise right away - you may just have inspired me to dust off my long neglected wii - I purchased EA personal trainer a few weeks back and still to open it! :-)
  • Wow.. I have a Wii too and its been sitting in the same box i packed it in a couple months ago. I was just thinking about hooking it up and doing some additional exercising with it.

I am a very social person and am always volunteering with different organizations and meeting new people, but I always knew I wasn't that happy because of the weight and I was putting on a fake face. The new town I'm in is pretty boring, however its the perfect time to focus on ME. Too often we look out for others, but neglect our own happiness and health.

I know its just been a little over a week, but I have found that making exercise a part of my daily routine helps out tremendously. I treat it like its just as mandatory as personal grooming or eating dinner. Try and find an hour of your day where you are just sitting around watching TV, or not really doing anything important and exercise.
