  • Thank you both!
  • My cat is very judgmental! Indeed. Pick up an espresso after work and get to it. Thank you!
  • I think you said hello earlier, but I can't figure out this messenger/friend thing on here! Thank you though! I need the support! :)
  • Thanks folks... keep them coming! Gonna head to the gym and scheming to sign up for a half at the end of next month!
  • Ha, yes 12 minute miles!!! Portland is great. I missed the Shamrock run last weekend and the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. I have lived in quite a few cities and it really is great. I am sure there are other folks here who are looking for someone like me. I have great running friends, but they are super fast and don't…
  • Thanks all. Yeah I thought I was better yesterday (after thing OTC pills for it) so I went to kickboxing and ran on the treadmill (and DEFINITELY skipped spinning class) but last night symptoms returned. I've been drinking so much water too that I am sure running and jumping around would be annoying too. Just glad I'm on…
  • Good luck on your journey, but please if you ever feel degraded or hurt again by a specialist, practitioner, or doctor of any kind... PLEASE go to someone else. They might have the same diagnosis but a much more compassionate demeanor.
  • bump anyone?
  • I read this thread a few hours ago and it helped peel me off the couch and into the gym and onto the treadmill to run 5.10 miles, so thank you. The past couple of weeks have been tough. Have battled depression for a long time now, don't want anti-depressants, or birth control to help. I am a graduate student, 35 and single…

  • I am 5'11 and goal is 175, but it has been a struggle just getting down these past 10 pounds as I have been gaining muscle and trying to enjoy this journey as opposed to depriving myself every step of the way. I am at about 195 now (too scared to look at scale for another couple of weeks as I had a very bad week!) I am a…
  • I eat almond butter every morning too (2 tbsp) and wondering the SAME thing.... I really do feel like it may be hindering so... bump!
  • I pop 1 or 2 emergency packets in a shot of water right before, I find that gets me going. Or I will have one per class as I tend to back to back hour classes 3 X week at gym, but the double punch really does it (love the tangerine the best) I always eat post workout, even if its brown rice protein powder in a cup of…
  • Thank you! Appreciate the comments... always curious on the subject.
  • I bought this DVD series and need to start incorporating. I hate home videos, but the gym and running is becoming a bit boring so want to shake things up a bit!!!
  • thank you... I have been needing to make chili for school lunches... this is perfect!
  • fantastic!
  • actually 30!
  • Thanks of the responses. Definitely different readings. Tonight's spinning class was almost 130 cals less than yesterday. It is just good to note all this and thankful I keep track now... really is eye opening, calories burned and calories consumed... all of it!
  • I wear the HRM every day, I am just curious what makes one workout different than another it it reads I am burning more calories one day than the other.
  • Olive oil, honey, avocado, almonds and peanut butter are big calorie numbers and healthy for you. I was having that problem too and adjusted to try and make it work. Good luck!
  • I plan on working out, burning at least 800 calories Monday, Tues, Wednsday. Thursday there is a 90 minute boot camp I am attending Friday there is a 2 hour spinning class (come and go) that I hope to stay the duration. And I will take Saturday or Sunday off :)
  • thanks I definitely want to do the Portland marathon. I also moved from NYC, so one day hope to do the NYC marathon as well... I don't feel like I am starting too late being 35 as I have been active for quite a while now, just need to focus on the running!
  • wow thanks for the replies, and sorry... I realized what I pasted is very LONG! well I live here in Portland, so I have to deal with the rain and cold... which I think I can get around. Sounds to me I need to really push myself to get outside more and challenge myself. I think the fear with outside is that I tend to look…
  • wet sock treatment : wet some cotton socks, wring them out, put them on AND put dry wool socks over that sleep overnight and they will be dry in the morning. I suggest doing it each night until you are in the clear fresh ginger, fresh mint, honey and lemon elderberry
  • I love this post. I am 5'11 and last time I weighed was 196, shooting for 175/180 (although I just completely caved and ate pizza and cake tonight after being sick all week!!! ech) I have been disciplined for the past couple of months (except for the comment above of course!) and know I have gained muscle and body if…
  • rice cake with almond butter almond milk my discipline with working out substituting olive oil occasionally with water when cooking pyrex containers for immediately storing leftovers! chard and collard greens - one of these leaves with hummus as a roll up and I am good! almond cashew kind bars with 150 calories (the lowest…
  • Thanks all, I know I would have some similar feeling on here! I am pretty healthy for a 35 yr old, but this is knocking me around for sure. I am also going for my Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine so trying to heal myself here at home as well, but it is hard when we are all practicing on each other at school and…
  • wow, I am 5'11 and striving just to lose 20 pounds to be 175... (which I think is also healthy for our height)... of course we will see when I get there if I want to continue. For me, I have been putting on muscle, while losing fat the past couple of months so no scale change... annoying, but feeling better every day. Good…
