  • This was such an inspiring getting started post! My best piece of advice is learning to deal with the setback and there will be lots of them! Some weeks you'll gain a pound, sometimes you'll go a few days without exercising, sometimes you'll eat a few too many donuts. What really helped me was to truly see every new day as…
  • Thanks everyone for the tips and support. I'm definitely going to work on freezing more individual portions of meals. It's so easy to get overwhelmed by meal planning and making bigger batches will definitely help
  • Such an inspiring video. Congratulations! You did great!
  • Thanks everyone for the replies! All your stories are very inspiring and you all are MUCH better at time management than me. I know I have to make it a priority, it's definitely just an adjustment. I'm starting today by walking before work and packing a lunch!
  • awesome results! Never give up!
  • You can do it! Just make sure you are always going in the right direction during in terms of eating healthier and exercise and no matter what, never feel like you failed and take every blip in the road in stride. I would recommend looking at a calorie calculator at fat2fitradio.com upping my calories to above him bmr (I…
  • I've only binged one weekend in the last 30 days (it wasn't a bad binge and I had no mfp crutch). What has helped me a lot has been two things. First, upping my calories to 2100 (still lost 8 lbs in the 30 days) and Second eating whatever I wanted within the calories and finding delicious low calorie/healthy item. The…
  • Trust me if you have your calories that low you will not be able to keep it up and you will most likely give up. Think about it in the long term. Picture yourself where you want to be in six months or a year. In a year, eating a lot more calories than 1500 you could definitely lose 60 lbs. check out fat2fitradio.com and…
  • It was really freeing to me when I found out I could eat what I wanted, and eat more calories (thanks helloitsdan), and still lose weight at a healthy pace. I still eat ice cream, toaster streudels, wendy's etc but I've found that more and more I'm finding healthy options that I like that fit well into my calorie goal…
  • great ideas! I will definitely give some of these a try :)
  • I always weigh my food now with a digital scale for a few reasons. It is much more accurate than using cups (I was way overestimating my calories even with level measurements) and now I don't have to clean all those dang measuring cups/spoons! I just zero out the scale and keep adding stuff (like yogurt, fruit, and…
  • I got Jack Bauer, Harry Potter, and Skrillex. I think that's the dream team right there!
  • Then I guess the saying really should be "weight loss happens in the kitchen, visible abs come from strength training".
  • When people say "abs are made in the kitchen" I understand that getting abs is mainly about what you eat (macros, consistent deficit, and such). However, every time people say this, they include at the end that you should lift heavy 3-4x a week. Is it possible to get abs just by tuning in your diet and not lifting?
  • personally I only drink water and I LOVE water so it's really easy for me to get 8+ cups in. I bring a water bottle with me everywhere and have water with my meals. I actually wanted to say I used to drink water straight from the gallon an every day I would have probably 2 gallons or more but I felt terrible, weak, and…
  • I just stop controlling myself when I go home. I am working to make this a lifestyle change instead of this crappy yoyo dieting :(
  • What I always have to remind myself is that everything just goes back to calories in-calories out. I think it's really easy to make it a lot more difficult. Exercise of any kind is good, protein feeds your muscles, and you need fat to survive
  • When someone cooks something for you and you don't know what's in it but you're having a family type dinner, do you just guess? For instance, someone makes beef stew or homemade macaroni and cheese. Do you just not eat it or do you eat some and guess?
  • It's just that I'm on vacation when I'm home and all the food is already cooked and accessable. At school I make everything myself and everything is out of reach and out of mind so I don't go crazy snacking. It's just with all the unhealthy foods I find it hard to balance and hard to say no to eating food with the family.…
  • After gaining weight my freshmen year I said enough is enough and I wanted to learn how to sensibly control my weight and live a healthy lifestyle. It wasn't until I found MFP that I found out how to count calories and eat foods I liked while losing weight. I've eaten all my exercise calories and I'm close to meeting my…
  • also make sure you watch out for the sodium content.
  • I like wendy's they have some good options. The plain baked potato, the small chili, the grilled chicken sandwich are lower than 300 calories. Taco bell has some good options in my opinion especially if you order fresca style because it holds the cheese and has fresh salsa. I also like the grilled chicken burrito at taco…
  • pasta is a great option, eggs, whole wheat bread, cheap storebrand yogurts, oatmeal, and shredded wheat are my staples. I also get bananas and apples/oranges for fruit and carrots for veggies
  • You shouldn't be discouraged. I think you need a little bit of a different mindset. I looked at your diary and most days you have 800-900 calories that you intake. That's too low. You should bump it up to at least 1300/day. I have always had the mindset that I will log most everything and that I hope to lose about…
  • I would try some of leslie sansone's workouts. Some of them are up on youtube and they are a fun and easy way to get yourself to start exercising and they can be done anytime in your own room. Good luck and I wish you the best!
  • I'm hoping to lose 5 lbs this month so I'm definitely in! SW: 161.5 Goal Weight: 156.5
  • Don't worry about it. This happened to me I ended up going over 1000 calories over my limit and still ended up down 2 pounds for the week because all my other days were right at my calorie allotment. Keep on plugging away :)
  • Not sure exactly what you posted but I love seeing people of all sizes taking on goals to be healthier and be more confident in themselves. To be honest though I am most impressed by people that have lost a lot of weight (say around 50 pounds) and still have a ways to go towards their goal weight and how optimistic they…
  • I walk about 30 mins (round trip) to work so I put those in since it would be counted as mine is set at sedentary.
  • I usually have about 300 for breakfast 300 for lunch 200 for snack between lunch and dinner 700 for dinner+before bed snack (I have my daily intake set at 1500). I always eat back all my exercise calories too so those values go up if I've exercised that day
