staying at your goal weight

Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone else is in my situation. I always lose about 20 pounds (and have maybe 10 pounds to go) that I need to but then I just go back up to my old habits and increase back and its just a never ending cycle. I'd like to break the cycle and actually get to my goal weight and stay there! Also, do you guys just estimate when you don't know how many calories is in something if you don't know? It's so hard when I'm home and I don't know any calories I always gain a lot of weight. At school at least I know what I'm eating and how many calories it is. At home, who knows. Hope everyone's doing well and thanks for any help.

why is it that you cant figure it out at home? what is stopping you? please explain or we cant help figure out what to do for you.I also yoyo, have done this about 4 times in my life for various reasons. i vowed this is the last time. my friends would so rat me out to everyone else that i couldnt see stopping even after reaching my goal weight. i noticed you have been on a while but no pic and only afew posts. why? the cycle continues when we get lax and think, we got this, when in fact we dont and we need to keep it up to maintain. i wont stop doing what i am doing now even after reaching goal weight.0

It's just that I'm on vacation when I'm home and all the food is already cooked and accessable. At school I make everything myself and everything is out of reach and out of mind so I don't go crazy snacking. It's just with all the unhealthy foods I find it hard to balance and hard to say no to eating food with the family. I'm really just embarassed of having to lose some weight. I'm always yoyoing and just can't ever get myself exactly where I want to be. I get to the point where I feel like I'm adequate but always a distance away. It's just frustrating0

Second this notion.
Having an occasional "bludge day" is normal, but with the searchable database and barcode-scanning capacity, you shouldn't really have that much difficulty keeping track of calories?
As for staying on your weight, its not going to happen without a significant change in lifestyle on your part - keeping weight off requires a new lifestyle and new set of eating habits - simply switching your old ones for healthier ones intermittently is not a solution - you'll simply continue to yo-yo each time you switch..
I don't mean to sound harsh, but its the honest truth - there's no magic pill / formula / exercise to keep you at your ideal weight once you reach it, its simply eating habits / exercise.0 -
When someone cooks something for you and you don't know what's in it but you're having a family type dinner, do you just guess? For instance, someone makes beef stew or homemade macaroni and cheese. Do you just not eat it or do you eat some and guess?0
