Any idea that does not involve being 100% straight with him is a terrible idea. Tell him straight up that you're concerned about his weight and that you'd like him to lose some because you want him to be healthy and because you think it's important that couples try their hardest to remain attractive to one another.

Laphroaig is good. Very smokey and peat-y. Personally, I prefer Bowmore 18 year (it's along the same lines as Laphroaig), and Lagavulin. Lagavulin is a little more expensive, at least where I am, and probably a little "tamer" as far as smokiness. Can't go wrong with any of these three.

Force yourself to drink black coffee for 2 weeks and you'll never need cream and sugar (or those 150 calories) again.

I haven't used the Fire, but I would recommend getting a regular kindle if you're going to use it mostly for reading. Screen is easier on the eyes (designed NOT to look like a computer screen).

I don't like eating in the morning either, but I usually grab a granola bar or something just to kick start me mentally. I feel sluggish until I eat, but not really hungry.
