having never had a DSLR before, I am not partial to either brand yet. I picked up the 60D and the D5100 at the store and the 60D just felt better in my hands. I couldnt try out the D5100 cause the battery was dead so I only got to play around with the 60D. It seemed cool for the 3 minutes I got to use it.

The lens that comes with the camera is a EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS how does that compare to the one you mentioned? better? worse?

man, after reading all that Ken Rockwell stuff..... I dunno. It makes a lot of sense, now I am just discouraged. :)

the most recent pic on my page is the first one where I was actively looking at the composition and the rule of thirds. I think its by far my most technically sound photo yet. Havent done any shooting since that one yet but itching to get back out there.

I have access to Photoshop Elements but no idea how it works other than a few basic things. Haven't had time to really get deep into how it works yet.

wow, your pics are 10 times better than mine. After finding a photography website and learning what I SHOULD be doing, I find that my pics just suck right now. haha I am very unhappy with what I have on there. I need to improve, big time. :)

The types of shots I want to take dont seem to come out very well on my P&S. I am hoping that once I get a DSLR, I will be able to figure out how to configure it to do what I want. Thats the hope anyways. :)

the lighting wasnt the best. camera was on a tripod. trying to photograph a horse running. but also, have tried shooting my son playing soccer which is much slower and still got blurry pics. Every burst shot ive taken has been blurry.

the problem with this camera is, in order to get the high speed burst, its preprogrammed in for the settings. I dont thinkI can change any of that. :(
