  • Little Miss Very - Yes, heart rate monitors are the most accurate way to monitor how many calories you burn! I highly recommend getting one! I've been over-estimating how many calories I burn during exercise for a long time now! And yes, it's true.. after exercise, your heart rate is still accelerated. So, as long as your…
  • Hi, at the risk of sounding really thick, are these heart rate monitors accurate? Is it really true that after workouts, if you keep going you can really burn a significant amount of calories? I find it hard to believe but if its true I'm so getting one lol! Any advice would be appreciated. Thanksxx
  • Hi, I too have had this problem!! I no longer drink at home - unless it's a special occasion, and I dont drink a lunchtimes at work - I say that I have to drive so there's no point. When I do go on nights out etc, I try to save enough calories throughout the day for drinking, so I will eat say 700-1000 during the day and…

  • Hi, I was the same as you when I first started going to the gym - didnt know which machines to use for how long etc. Luckily at the gym I go to there is always someone there, and I booked in for a consultation where they find out what your goals are, and work out an exercise plan according to your needs and habits which…
  • BTW at this rate I think I may be seeing you on that beach soon lol! x
  • I know exactly what you mean and good on you for feeling so positive about this - it is very easy to become obsessed by the numbers and let it take over sometimes. But seeing it as a lifestyle change as opposed to a 'diet' is the best way - I used to have some terrible eating habits beforehand, but now I feel as though I…
  • Hi, I just tried to update my goals as I have lost 12lbs, but it still says my intake should be 1200 - the same as when I started. Is this correct or have I not updated them correctly? x
  • sorry - I meant keep going (not doing - my typings terrible lol! xx
  • I just want to say that you are doing extremely well, and that at least your weight lost has been consistent. Also you have to remember that it is not all about the numbers on the scale - look at how well your clothes are fiiting and also muscle tone - it all counts. Keep doing and don't feel disheartened. xx
  • Welcome! You have come to the right place to get started- good luck x
  • Reading all of that has made me glad that I follow a vegan diet
  • I absolutely love fresh fruit smoothies for breakfasts - especially in the hot weather. Sometimes it would be just pure fruit, sometimes I would add soya milk for a milkshake-type smoothie. I don't usually feel like eating in the mornings so this is ideal, and doesn't make you feel heavy or bogged down til lunch! x
  • Oh I know the feeling - I was completely HOOKED on coke zero, and would drink it by the gallon lol!! I found it hard giving up, especially as I don't drink tea or coffee either, I needed something other than plain water to replace it with, so went for water with lemon juice and it seems to have worked. Also laying off the…
  • Hi, I've done the Carol Vorderman's 28 day detox diet a few times, and have always lost weight and felt better, even without exercise. I have learnt to incorporate some of the healthier eating principals into my daily diet so each time I have done the diet, I haven't lost as much weight as I did the first time round (I…
  • I'm 5ft6, 150 lbs and wear a UK size 10/12.
  • Thw cucumber and avocade soup sounds interesting - how do you make it?
  • Absolutely - I have exactly the same cravings and only during the evenings - hence the weight gain!! I could happily not eat during the day but the evenings are another story - even if I've eaten plenty during the day. I've now started to allow myself one treat in the evening to satisfy my craving - 1 packet of baked…
