  • Good for you - you look great! Thanks for sharing. Any idea how many net carbs you average?
  • Maybe your doctor is old school. If "normal" range is .5 to 5, and over 5 means hypothyroid, that's a pretty broad range. Mine was around 4.5 my whole life, and I was symptomatic my whole life, but symptoms were ignored and Dr's only cared about the TSH number. Finally had a fluke test over 5, which got me sent to…
  • David's Bridal is a good idea. Good advice so far... here's a little more food for thought: I agree - A-line is good, or a nicely cut knee-length shift with a long-ish jacket (maybe of chiffon or organza) can look really great, actually. Or, an empire waist can be good (but it definitely needs to be the right cut). If it's…
  • I really think it depends why you're counting. I've tried to research this for a long time to understand how much I should try to drink in a day, but really haven't found a solid answer. One useful tip, though - if you're thirsty, you're already dehydrated. Anyway, the general conclusion I've drawn is that I need to target…
  • I only count things like cleaning & yard work when they are well out of the ordinary. I assume even a sedentary activity level assumes a certain amount of daily activities and household chores. I also tend to under-report exercise in general on this site, because I find it's too generous for my apparently…
  • Only thing I've ever found on the subject (with a lot of looking, because even when I'm very thin, most boots won't fit) was things to make calves bigger: stair climbing, calf raises... that sort of thing. I look at athletes' body types, and it seems like distance runners have the skinniest calves, though. Smaller muscles,…
  • Well, if you were dripping with sweat, there was probably a lot of sweat that had already evaporated or been wiped away. Basically, you have to allow for a few lbs fluctuation any time from water weight. You have to only consider the longer-term trends (no less than a week) to decide if you're losing. Sometimes even a week…
  • I can definitely see the difference. Especially in the arms. I think you look great! I have the same feelings a lot of times after I've lost some, but then when I got heavy again, I wished SO MUCH that I'd just been more content with myself at the lower weight. Try to think of it as, Even if you're not so happy with what…
  • The stretch after your workout is definitely the most important, but many believe it's also important to stretch near the beginning, but AFTER your muscles are warm. Your muscles MUST be warm first, or they will get tiny little tears throughout. Most people walk with some arm movements or something else rather gentle for…
  • Sorry - this is gonna be kinda long. Feel free to skip this one. :) Ok, so here's my story... I have been symptomatic and everyone has suspected I'm hypothyroid pretty much my whole life, but until earlier this year, I always just tested "borderline" (like around 4.5 TSH). And my weight has pretty much always been a…
  • That's fantastic! Did you make any adjustments to the goals or anything, or did you just follow the program defaults? Thanks for sharing!
  • I'm in Columbus, also just joined here, and also considering a Fitbit or a Bodymedia Fit. What do you think of your Fitbit so far? Good luck to you, too! :)
  • I usually lose them before I break them. ;)
  • Lots of water, and especially stretching (long, slow stretches). Rest is important, too. Be sure you're stretching after your warm-up and most importantly at the end of your workout, too. Stretching is so under-rated.
