Hi Hayley, I can relate to your post! I've lost 50 lb. at least 6 times over in my life and find myself here again. I really think the big key is doing it ONE DAY AT A TIME! Just for today, I can pass up those foods I love (That are killing me.) I'd like to add you, but I'm not sure how to do that from here so please feel…

I love this stuff! Great posts! How do I join this group? (Note...I've been with MFP off and on for a couple of years but obviously haven't figured out its finer points. LOL)

My daughter and I are so wanting to visit Germany! I will remember to beware the beer and bread though:-)

You most certainly CAN do it, and the answer exists in doing it ONE DAY AT A TIME. Some of us are (food) addicts in the truest sense of the word and when the food controls you, rather than you controlling the food (As in the scenarios you shared) we become miserable, overwhelmed, and feel out of control. Taking control of…

Thank you, everyone, for your suggestions and input. Yes, the sordid truth is that I don't measure and I'm probably putting 4 Tablespoons in, times 2-3 cups of coffee. EEK! That's an extra 270 calories a day! I am going to experiment with some of these ideas and try to cut the calories by at least 1/3. @ kaspatore: salted…

Water weight! Just wait it out...stay on track and it'll disappear in a few days just as surely as it appeared.

Date :-) (Where you taking me?)

Shred it and make a coleslaw, saute it with Parmesan cheese, garlic salt and pepper, or cook it along with any meat in oven or slow cooker.

I have been a yo-yo dieter all my life, carrying at least an additional 50 pounds (and upwards of 100) for the duration. I can completely relate to your post. It seems like success has always been preceded by some great motivational switch, then when I'm on, I'm on. During those times, I fear reverting to my old, self…

I have had high BP for years. I also work in the medical field and see a lot of people with blood pressure issues. A reading of 128/94 is elevated but not alarming, and there are many reasons it could be temporarily up (Caffeine, vigorous exercise, stress, anxiety, pain, illness, etc.) High blood pressure only becomes…

You can do it!!! There are so many great success stories on here, as part of my morning routine, I read one for inspiration and motivation and it helps me stay on track all day. Americans....we got fat collectively.....we can get healthy collectively! ;-)

Great post, and nice to see that there are still some open and analytical minds at work out there. And then, those that aren't....but I suppose that can't be helped :-) In my own experience working in the medical field, it suddenly became trendy locally about 10 years ago to have a gastric bypass. In short order, numerous…

Excellent question, thank you for asking. I have been wondering the same thing lately.....all the while knowing which calorie is the "best" calorie, so to speak :-)

Awesome story and a great inspiration! Thank you so much for sharing. Keep up the great work and hang in there with your wife; modern medicine does wonders with breast cancer. There are many happy, healthy survivors. With your tenacious and fighting spirit, she will be just fine :-)

Nice job! Summer is almost here....enjoy the fruits of your hard work! ;-)

Nice smile and love the color of your hair!

You have my vote! I absolutely hate "Hon", or..."Hun." And unless it's a downright elderly lady....yes...I think it's a flirt. Here is an example of a "word" that should be lost.......I HATE it!!!

Agreed. Well put! :-)

Great job! You look fantastic and I'll bet you feel soooooooooooooo much better! Thanks for posting.

I was truly a soda addict! It wasn't easy giving it up, but I switched to flavored waters, including flavored sparkling waters (Available at Walmart, Safeway, Etc.) and, drank them from a soda cup with ice and straw. I also drink flavored teas. I haven't had a soda since January 23rd! I no longer miss my beloved Pepsi but…

That's the kind of thing that makes it ALL worthwhile. And forget the girls and their little outfits.......guys like thicker chicks anyway :-)

I'm a Psych major but also a Civil War buff. LOL. So....if it's Civil War History, feel free to ask! :-)

My advice is to not deprive yourself of the foods you love. Eat what you like a day or two a week, but add lots of veggies and drink lots of water, and don't forget to exercise. I have lost 50 pounds (before starting here) and I eat freely on occasion. It's really about making the small and more permanent changes like…

We can reverse years of damage to our bodies by deciding to raise our standards for ourselves, then living differently. Old wounds heal, injuries repair, and the whole system improves with just a few changes in what we put into our bodies and how we move them.
