Remember that the machines are made by people who want to sell more machines. If their monitors tell you that you burn a lot of calories on their machine, maybe you'll buy another machine. Trust your HRM.

Good for you. Patience can be very hard to come by, and it can easily be replaced by frustration and disappointment. Keep the positive attitude and continue to follow the plan. The pounds will come off!

This is good advice. I started using MFP a little over a year ago. No gimmick diets like I have tried in times past. I also got a membership at a local Anytime Fitness. Eat healthy, count the calories, watch your sodium and get some exercise. It works.

I'm from Michigan's Upper Peninsula. We'll be doing good not to have 6 more months of winter!

Great job! I'll bet you feel great!

I recently was able to come off blood pressure meds. Obviously, I lost some weight (118 lbs so far.). However, I also joined a gym and lowered my Sodium intake. Also, drink plenty of water. I also replaced regular coffee with decaf, and cut out nearly all other caffeinated beverages. It worked...my wife and I are both off…

My wife (who has lost 129 lbs) and I lost the weight by using MFP. We closely followed the calorie goals on the website, and joined a gym. We spend about an hour a day in the gym and continue to watch what we eat. It has been a struggle, but we have a built in support group in each other! Works out great.

I think I got it. That was way more complicted than it should have been!

Polar Ft7 I picked this one over the Ft 4 because you can upgrade it to interface with a computer . However, you have to buy an extra part to link them, and it seems to be just as easy without the link.

We don't bring much junk food into the house. It's the break room at work that is dangerous. There is always a box of pizza lying around, or a tray of cookies. Gotta stay outta there!

Wow! Nice job. Personally, I am finding the last 35 lbs to be a struggle!

Clive Cussler or John Grisham are always a fun read. Right now, I am reading Sherlock Holmes.

Well done!

Not a tee-totaler, but usually don't drink much. A simple "no thanks" usually works for me. 'Nuff said!

Also a "miracle cure" for kidney stones, supposedly. I was taking it for that for a while. I would mix it with cranberry juice....very tangy!

I have suspected that my scale was lying to me for some years now!

I opted for the Polar ft7. I chose it due to the fact that you can upgrade it to link to your computer...if you want to. Works great without that feature as well.

That is such a great feeling! I still struggle with ordering clothes, because I have ordered by the number of XX's for years. It's actually hard to get in the habit of looking at clothes that are not in the Big & Tall section. Keep up the good work!

I just made the decision that I wanted to change my life. Part of that change is that I have to exercise. I get up every morning at 4:45 (ok...I snooze till 5:00). I hit the gym at 5:30 for an hour and head to work. Some mornings it is really tough. But I know that if I put it off till later, I will keep putting it off,…

I look forward to seeing your progress. I am 39 (at least for a little while longer). I should hit the 100 lbs lost mark sometime in the next week, thanks largley to using this website. I was at around 350 lbs a little over a year ago. Today is my first day off of my blood pressure meds, and it feels great. Keep up the…

You may have watched it, but if not, check out, "Vegucated." It's a "guerilla style" documentary on veganism. They have lots of tips and ideas that they present. I know you can stream it on Amazon.

I pay 45 dollars for one hour with my trainer. I meet with him twice a week. So totally worth it! He keeps me motivated.
