  • I too was never a runner and found the c25k program. A few weeks I repeated but it is the best program for getting you started. Since completing that I found that maintaining was difficult then I joined a running club now I have a great new set of friends and it definitely keeps me motivated. I have now completed a…
  • I was very excited to see that it was coming to adelaide but still no date set so i doubt its going to happen. My only worry is the last obstacle getting zapped doesn't do it for me and going around seems too much like cheating to be an option. Has anyone actually done it?
  • Nike vomero for me too great colours and its all about the looks right??
  • My family are great at ensuring that there is plenty of great food for everyone. Lst year my sister made smashed cauliflower using soy milk and dairy free margarine that was to die for. Loads of garlic and she veganised a recipe she got from the Internet. My roast potatoes ensured a definite conversion to nutritional yeast…
  • Hello, I know what you mean cheese is the hardest to give up. If you think about what it is in cheese that makes it tase good its essentially salt and oil. This means that you can easily replace it with any product that is high in oil. Ground nuts, avacardo or some olive oil will replace nuts in most situations. After a…
  • I am not gluten free but I have family that are so I made my own version of tofu turkey last year for christmas and it was really good. Working from memory of the recipe I got about a kilo of tofu and crumbled it up and added braggs and seasonings then put it into a collander pressing it firmly into the sides so any…
  • I have really enjoyued reading this post and all of the different perspectives. Its not so suprising that Vegans just like all people have a range of views and approaches. What works for me is to be the vegan that I wish everyone was. I make a point to enjoy myself when eating out and if someone has an issue with what I am…

  • I really enjoy the what do you eat question because at least that one is interesting to answer as I am somewhat food obsessed. Protein and calcium questions are annoying and the whole plants feel pain too does do my nut. Most distressing thing I have heard is my daughters friends telling me that their parents wouldnt let…
  • I went to the vegan festival in Adelaide last weekend - it was amazing to just go and order food anywhere (its funny how bad I am at making food choices now as I am used to only one or two options that are suitable when eating out.) I had a sticky date muffin and it was awesome!! I also buy vegan lentil pies when I am…
  • I love running and I will run a mile for you too!
  • welcome to the world of running. I too started with the c25k program and my advice is to follow the program and stick to it. its ok if you need to repeat a couple of the weeks but even better if you can just have faith that you are stronger than you think you are the program is really well designed to take you through.…
  • I always tell the employees that I am vegan and ask what they have available. The more people asking for vegan options the better and I find that people working for a restaurant have a much better idea what the kitchen can rustle up for me.

  • I too live in Australia and buy the spagetti squash at my local farmers market and it is great. Changs super low cal noodles are good too.
  • Hey I know that you are gaining but how do you feel? I mean apart from annoyed when stepping on the scales? Have you thought about staying off the scales for a month or so and just keep a focus on eating healthy nourishing foods getting plenty of water and keeping your body moving. Once you notice that you look better and…
  • Oh I feel your pain. I love food and its so easy at home when you are in control of your food to be a super master jedi vegan. Out though is a different story. So often I have ordered what I thought would be Ok only to find out that they have managed to sneak in some bits of animal that I do not want in my mouth. I am…

  • Veganomican is a great book and I also love the Coleen Patrick Goodreau books. I too found the Skinny Bi*** in the Kitch was like fast food which is good sometimes but definately not how I would like to eat each day
  • Hi I have been vegan for almost a year now and made the change for both compassionate and environmental reasons. Since then I have discovered to my delight that its an enjoyable healthy diet that serves me well. My challenges are in reading labels when you discover that the item you bought had some numbers that meant I am…
  • There is a group here for vegans and you will find some great recipes and tips there. I love the 30 day vegan challenge by colleen patrick goodreau (not sure I have her name spelt correctly. Also she does a great podcast that has a wealth of information as well. Get hold of some recipes and don't be afraid to use some…
  • Tastes great sprinkled on sliced tomato. Makes everything else taste just a little bit better add it to any savory dish you will be pleased that you did.
  • It is interesting isn't it why some people care and other's don't. Its not that they are not caring people by nature I think that we spend so much of our lives not thinking about our food and not personalising the animals that went into our food that its difficult to stop. I find that knowing I have the best chance of…
