  • All right, yeah. I'll stick to 1900! I'm already used to eating this anyway, haha. Thanks for your help!
  • Hiya! Ack, no. I meant moderate. I spaced on that, sorry. I did see a change in weight, but it's an upward trend. I was about 140.8 and now I'm somewhere around 143. My measurements seem to be about the same, though. I've been extra busy lately, and more physically active than usual, so I figured it was just water. But…

  • I'm curious about this now, too. I've been eating around 1900 as my cut for the past couple of weeks, but some of the other formulas have me closer to 1700-1800.
  • I've been thinking about this lately, too. It's kind of a struggle to eat, and I've been "cheating" with things like sago. I'm just not very hungry when it's hot. I end up drinking my calories and then snacking throughout the day.
  • This, basically. I kind of feel like some people should be required to experience various cultures' food (and dieting culture, because considering the topic, it's related) before they start talking about how a group isn't overweight because they obviously eat better. Rice isn't amazing, but it's not horrible either. And…
  • This basically has nothing to do with what you quoted me saying, unless you mean to say you're all for shaming and discriminating.
  • Basically this, yes.
  • Choices? Not always. Food deserts, anyone...
  • The problem you have is the same problem I think a lot of other posters have, and that's not understanding that all fat people aren't you. They aren't all living out your same bad choices or in the same pit of self-loathing. They aren't you. Deal with your own issues, and let others deal with their own. They don't deserve…
  • Specifically responding to this: "As far as equality, thought it was pretty obvious that we should all be treated the same regardless of our circumstances....." I kind of think that if it were obvious, people would actually be doing it. The fact that there's ever any kind of movement along these lines for any group is…
  • Considering that healthy is determined by may other factors besides weight, no. No, they aren't.
  • So.... are you kidding or did you honestly completely miss my point?
  • Couldn't put my finger on it, but I think you got it in one.
  • I'm tired of people bringing up the whole "you never see fat 100 year olds" argument. The majority of people, be they obese or one of MFP's famous health nuts, are not going to live for a century. It has way more to do with genetics and environment than weight.
  • *sigh* Throughout this post people have stated several times that this is something that encompasses more than just that one site, so. It seems a bit silly to bring it back to such a narrow focus yet again just because the OP started out that way. They asked about a movement and then linked to a site when the movement is…
  • If you understand that there's a range of views with all movements, why are you reducing this one down to the militants you've come in contact with?
  • I can understand where that feeling comes from, but there's no such thing as reverse, well, any discrimination. Think about it, you're saying that a couple of accommodations in a world that is literally designed against people like this, would be discrimination against those who fit the norm? I don't think that follows. It…
  • I see these proposals in favor of those for whom the "usual" treatment may not apply to. The fear is that FA is going to make people delight in being overweight/obese when in reality I find it hard to imagine that the average person is going to go, "oh, a bigger seat? guess i can eat that box of donuts today. let's pile it…
  • That at its core its essentially like any other anti-discrimination organization. The point overall is to say that a person is more than just this one aspect of his or herself, and that they deserve to be treated equally despite this difference. It's fighting against the fact that it's way to common to assume that a person…
  • That's a seriously misinformed opinion.
  • After this, I'm done, because you're obviously ridiculous in more ways than one. But c'mon. Seriously. Your profile says.... My Inspirations: a general hatred of those who are obese. Those who are obese. I got a feeling you know what those words in that order mean. You didn't say you hate obesity, you said you hate…
  • You misunderstood. I disagree with you on a fundamental level, that's just what made me roll my eyes and stop listening. But I guess you're a perfect example of your own analogy, because obviously someone's been encouraging your intolerance to an incredibly obnoxious level and has yet to give you a swat for it.
  • This was bad from the start, but it fell apart when you decided to compare a group of people to your disobedient dog. Also, from your profile: "a general hatred of those who are obese" Props for being upfront, but I'm pretty sure that just takes you out of this argument altogether.
  • Me! I'm 23 and always looking for more of a reason to be active (and stay honest) on here.:)
  • I agree with this. I've always thought it had more to do with waist to hip ratio than anything, and i've seen people who are "fat" who fit the definition as much as people who are thinner, so. yes. Lots of body shaming going on here, though. geez.
  • I forgot to mention I do get my fair share of whole wheat AND dairy. Haha. Other people have chocolate and I have cheese, so I've been trying to cut back on that a smidge. But I love that hummus idea *looks for recipes*. And somehow I haven't had corn in forever, so I know what I might add to dinner tonight. Thanks a lot…
  • Oh, I didn't know that about chia seeds, but that makes me even more interested to try them. I'm not sure about the sunflower seeds (I used to be scared as a kid and have just spent most of my time avoiding things with a hard shell out of habit) but it's definitely worth a try. Thanks for the suggestions!
