  • Unfortunately, losing muscle mass "up top" and the associated weight from the muscles will help you run faster. Think about it-- how much slower would you be wearing a 10 lb backpack? How much faster will you run with 10 lb of (un-needed) muscle? I run and I lift (P90X), but the training for the next marathon I do will…
  • It's a perfect lower-cal substitute for milk in stuff like smoothies, oatmeal, or with cereal (I do a non-fat greek yogurt + almond milk mix when I eat cold cereal). It's not so great as a substitute for milk in pancakes or other baked goods.
  • Maybe try DDP Yoga? There are 1000's of yoga videos on YouTube that you can check out.
  • Under Armour "Cold Gear" fitted (not compression) tights. You can wear tights under them if its cold enough, and running pants over them if its even colder (I'm in Wisconsin and run all year....)
  • Icebug shoes (with the ones with actual studs). You'll ruin just about any indoor surface with these, but they're awesome for Wisconsin winters! You can get these on Amazon but they seem to also show up on a lot of overstock-type websites as well.
  • If you like Indian, I've had good luck with recipes in "The Indian Slow Cooker: 50 Healthy, Easy, Authentic Recipes" by Anupy Singla. Many of these are vegan or can be adapted pretty easily. In contrast, I did not like any from "150 Best Indian, Thai, Vietnamese and More Slow Cooker Recipes" by Sunil Vijayakar. There's…
  • I like plain nonfat Greek-- with 5-10g of honey added in per serving it no longer tastes sour to me. 90% of the yogurt in the dairy case (including non-fat, low-cal, low-sugar, etc) is about as good for you as Coke or Diet Coke. Read the ingredients and look at the calories.
  • All of the "Insanity" routines (the original Insanity), and several T25 and P90X3 routines can be done in a hotel room with no equipment (you may need to rearrange the room a bit, but you can usually find a way to make it work!). For yoga, get a travel yoga mat (one that is thin enough to fold is easiest to deal with) and…
  • I did P90X without following the nutrition plan, but did make the following changes to my diet: Quit adding sugar to anything (like coffee-- you'll get used to it after a while!) Switched to nonfat milk from 2%. (Now I go with unsweetened almond milk) Cut out bread where I could... replaced sandwiches @ lunch w/ wraps, no…
