  • I'm just thinking that if I try and create more of a deficit it won't be something I'll be able to sustain. I'm at 1550-1600 right now. 5'5" 163 lbs.
  • Helpful! Thanks everyone.
  • I was under the impression that a general calorie deficit will get you there. Not necessary the right combo of foods.
  • You're all amazing. Thank you!! So helpful. I just really enjoy running this one particular 3 mile loop in my neighborhood and don't want to give it up! Still want to see progress, but there are only so many routes I can come up with. Sometimes I'll mix it up but most days it's the same.
  • I also hear that running the same distances/routes won't help to make a change in body weight after a while bc you get used to it. How much truth is there in this??
  • Really great advice. I feel good about my plan/deficit and I think I'll be able to maintain given I see a loss. I'm not falling into the 1200 calories a day trap. I feel like that's not sustainable. I'm eating any and all foods. No restriction. Been down that path of destruction before. Hoping I can fight my inner…
  • So the 257 is what I typically burn just by being alive (bmr) plus whatever extra activity I did??
  • Those are some great pointers, thank you!
  • Pre-logging food might help with that. I usually eat and log breakfast, then plan dinner and log it as best I can early in the day. This helps me stick to whatever portions I've logged (usually!), and helps me decide what to eat for lunch and snacks, making choices to help me hit the numbers in cals and macros. Sometimes I…
  • I've heard about the TDEE method many times, but never stuck to it long enough to see if it was working. At times, I feel like once I start with eating not so great food choices, i tend to go a little overboard with them. I'm not sure what is going to work for me. My friend who is a registered dietitian recommended that I…
  • Thanks so much everyone! I appreciate the input. I, too, ate primal/paleo for a while. I've tried everything actually! I'm hoping i can find something that sticks, but in the meantime, just try my best to make every meal healthy.
  • Me too!! I'm trying to lose 15-20 lbs. I'm 5'4", small frame and currently 145 lbs. The last 10-20 are very difficult. Just keep tracking everything. Even if you know you're going to go over. It will make a huge difference, and eventually get you to goal. Sara
  • I'll be here for support too! I'm on Day 14 of my Whole 30, so I'll still be strict until Sept. 12th (or beyond  )
  • Thanks for the reply. Maybe i'll check out Nora's book. I'm sure they are all good. I agree though that Cordain's publication was a bit scary. And very dry for that matter. I do get nervous sometimes about the high fat content, but realize that all of the fat we choose on this lifestyle is good ones. It's hard to debunk…
  • I cant even stress how wonderful GHEE is but........GHEE!! EAT MORE GHEE! SO delicious.
  • Hey! Thanks for the comment. Congrats on finishing one. I have yet to finish one. I have tried 1 time before. Failed. I really just want to, like you mentioned, examine my food habits and weaknesses. So far, it's been interesting to see how my mind works on thinking about food and meals. For instance, I just got out of a…
  • Climberchic-Great job on day 1. I did OK. Didn't eat enough though either. Working on that. Have to do a food shop. I woke up feeling find this AM. Had 3 eggs in ghee with 1/2 sweet potato and strawberries.
  • Thanks Anjelevil-I love Melissa's blog, and have read it before! Such great recipes, too. Primal Runner-I'm hoping to reset some of my bad habits, most specifically my sugar addiction which is JUST horrible. I'm a crossfitter, so I do plan to sneak in a compliant larabar in there for convenience sake if I have to and lots…
  • Thanks!! and congrats to you-that's great. 1/3 of the way there. I've attempted it before, but failed. This time, i'm trying to just push through to prove to myself I can do it. The no alcohol thing is going to be tough, but i know it'll be good for the bod to take a break. Sara
  • Just joined! Awesome idea:)
  • It SUCKS! Especially because if you look at my diary, i don't think I have those things TOO much. I don't get it. But i'll just go back to paleo for the most part and see what happens.
  • I feel like the hardest part is choosing which foods in the database to use if you don't know exactly what brand it is, etc. For instance, at work we use Aramark. So I'll search those foods in the database. Sometimes, I'll get multiple entries for the same exact item and i don't know which to choose. They might even be 100…
  • Was totally looking for a June group!! I'd love to be apart of it. I'll request and message you. -Sara
  • Thanks so much everyone. All of your advice and comments are helpful and thought-provoking. I think we really all do need to keep in mind that our habits as trackers are better off than when we didn't track at all. It's difficult to not see the exact progress I want, but I'm going to just keep on keeping on. Such a great…
  • Yeeeeeeea i figured those 2 days were stalling my progress. You're right. I'm going to have to get focused if I really want to see things happen. Thanks so much for your input.
  • That's a good idea. I'm going to try that out, thanks!
  • Really appreciate this reply actually. It's very true. I think sometimes I do have unrealistic goals for myself. I do try the best I can to track my food and work out a lot. The working out part has been great. I started Crossfit a year ago, and have gone really consistently since then. That IS a huge accomplishment that I…
  • I'm ALWAYS trying to get advice from nutritionists/trainers, etc. It's all the same really. So I'm thinking it's just me going over on the weekends that's screwing with me progress :-(.
  • Thank you for the encouragement. I totally always keep in mind that the loss is 80% food. Like I said (and you reiterated), I just need the scale to budge a little, and I can hopefully be in a better mindset.
  • I feel the same. I hate cutting things out because it's not a lifelong, realistic solution for me. But for the time being, I did decide to not have bread or pasta. Maybe I should do rice and potatoes too.
