  • Races are between 20th-23rd September 2018. Prices vary depending on whether you do the 5k, 10k, Kids Races or Half (there are challenge medals too, I believe for doing half&10k, 5,10&half etc.) The race itself is about 55-75 Euros depending on which tour operator and race you pick...by far most expensive cost would be…
  • Hi! I ran last year and it was really great fun! If you plan on running it let me know. Think I might end up booking it as so many in my family want to do it and train for their first half marathon.
  • Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I had a look for bodyglide in boots and couldn't see it. I'll have to have a look in Superdrug. Great to know that finally HRMs without chest straps are coming along. The Mio Alpha looked awesome but I was a bit disappointed that it doesn't have some basic features that my current HRM…
  • Thanks for your reply - you have a really good point there! Fitness should be the focus and I'm forgetting that. Well done on the significant weight loss and on running a half marathon - I hear its tough!
  • Is the Nike+ any good? Do you need Nike shoes or can you use it with any shoes?
  • You should be able to walk a half marathon in four hours. I'm just a bit confused about the progress I'm making.
  • It's just weird though as someone of similar fitness level to me runs at 10-11km speed and my feet would not keep up with that speed. Also my pal (again similar fitness) did a half marathon in two hours but at my current jogging speed it would take me 4 hours to run it supposedly which seems really really long. If so, I'm…
  • Well, I've been jogging at 5.5km speed for an hour and I've been told that an average person could walk for an hour at that speed and distance. I can hardly run at anything over 7.5km speed so everyone thinks my (now old) treadmill is inaccurate.
  • Thanks for sharing your formula. That seems like a good one! Yep, exercise machines ALWAYS overestimate calories so that seems like a good idea. I hope my heart rate monitor gets it somewhere near. I must admit I'm not a fan of eating back exercise calories although trying 2/3rd sounds like a decent idea!
  • Thanks - I was guessing 20-25 pounds might be a doable but challenging target. As for your 'goldilocks' zone - would you go 500 less than maintenance calories along with 500 calories of exercise? Or would that be too much? Congrats on the HUGE weight loss!!
  • I would make a new STRONG goal that will urge you on. Buy a dress a size or two smaller and set a date to wear it at a special occasion like a birthday or holiday and think about how great you'll look in it. That worked for me and spurred me on past my 'sticking' point too! Keep up the calorie logging on MFP and the weight…
  • Ditto about not eating back the exercise calories. Also when you are exercising check that you are sweating buckets and working at 70% MHR (maximum heart rate) so that you're burning a decent amount of calories. I'm a similar height and lost a considerable amount of weight on 1,200 calories a day for months on end. If the…
  • Hi, My first tip is that weight loss takes time, and lots of it...so don't get disheartened. Stick to 1,200 calories a day (or whatever it correct for your height) whether you exercise or not and you WILL loose weight. I exercise off and on but I still loose weight. I sometimes get disheartened when the number on the scale…
  • Hi, I found that successful weight loss came from the feeling that 'I was worthy' of having it, that I deserved to have success. As for motivation, I celebrated every little pound and half pound. I took photos, measurements, BMI and percentage lost etc. I had mini-goals around every half a stone or so, so every fortnight I…
  • I think I'll challenge myself to run 15K this week - I better get off the PC and do my first 5K of the week then!! :)
  • easy way is to buy a heart rate monitor with a chest strap which can calculate it for you. Be sure to get one with a calorie function. That's what I use and log with as the treadmill and machine vastly overestimate calorie burn.
  • Hi, I've got my costume!! I went out and tried on a bunch of stuff in the fancy dress shops and I ended up getting a short and petticoat-puffed Alice in Wonderland outfit in a size Small - so shocked as the size indication says 8-10 (UK sizes) and I'm still a 12 but it fit really good so I went for it. I've still got two…
  • Hi, I love how uber-upbeat I am...And now that I've lost weight I seem even happier all the time. I was before but I was happy then normal then moody then normal then happy. Everything seems a little bit more wonderful, even the everyday stuff now that I've lost weight - it's like my base level of happiness has risen.
  • You look PHENOMENAL!! Congrats!
  • Hi, Today was a good day to learn that you can change your routine and schedule to fit in exercise and remain under a calorie goal even when eating up. I got up early to do 30DS and an hour on the treadmill (to earn back 500 calories) and then had guests all day ending in a meal out. I checked out the menu and made…
  • Started LV1 Day 1 and my boyfriend joined in - he sweat loads and said it was tougher than his usual workout ;)
  • Hi, I'm totally in - my goal is to wear a size Medium in a Halloween costume for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party on 16th of October - yep, I'm off to Walt Disney World and I get to wear a costume while I'm there. I've got 2 inches to lose off my waist to fit into this size so I'm hoping to do it by then! I've lost 28…
  • Hi, I don't suppose I can join in too can I? I'm friends with Cal28 and Crystal0827 who suggested I ask to join. I'm a bit behind obviously. Just did day one yesterday along with my boyfriend who sweat buckets declaring it was better than his usual treadmill routine :)
  • Well done. I've dropped from 34.4 to 29.4 in 12 weeks so I'm just out of the big O category as well. Feel so much better myself. You should be proud!
  • Hi, I just used an internet calculator to figure out your BMI. This is what the Doctor's would use to determine if you are clinically overweight. It came out at 30 which means you've just tipped into the obese category by a few pounds. Most Doctor's don't care too much if you BMI is in the 'overweight' band from 25-29 if…
  • Cool. Which ones do you have? I find in-ear ones usually fall out fairly easily. Do you have the hooked ones?
  • What do you think of the Sennheiser Adidas ones? Any good?
  • Thanks for the links. Yes, the Quiet Comfort are the ones I have and I love them to bits. Using normal headphones I have to turn the volume up so high to try and block out the treadmill noise so anything similar would be amazing. I don't want to damage them anymore than I have already. The sweat has made the leather buckle…
  • Hi, How did it go? From the 1st until the 31st I went from 174 - 164...weighed in at 164 this morning so I made it. Challenge complete! 10 pounds lost. How did everyone else do??
