I don't know how to stick to it.

I am beyond frustrated, I weighed 185 pounds years ago and got myself down to nearly 130 but over the last three years I have steadily been gaining back. And I cannot seem to keep myself in check.

I realized my ability to lose that much weight prior was due to negative responses from those around me and a sick hatred of myself, which I now lack both of.

So I suppose it is true to state that I do not know how to be happy AND lose weight.

Halp. :c

There's unfortunately no magic answer that will give you your motivation; it has to come from you. But does it help to focus on how you want to look/how you want to feel/an item of clothing you want to wear/the example you want to set your children...? Everyone is different, everyone has to find their own reasons for making the change and (harder) sticking with it.

For me, for now, logging everything I eat is helping me keep track. I can't say I still see myself doing it in 5 or 10 years, but FOR NOW it's working.

Well done on taking action now!

Not happy with your body? You have the ability to change that. Sure, people may give you support all day, but at the end of the day only YOU can muster up the willpower to do what you want.

Hi, I found that successful weight loss came from the feeling that 'I was worthy' of having it, that I deserved to have success. As for motivation, I celebrated every little pound and half pound. I took photos, measurements, BMI and percentage lost etc. I had mini-goals around every half a stone or so, so every fortnight I had something to celebrate and spur me onwards.

Past a certain point, you don't want to gorge on cake because you're doing so well and the effort was worth it. I stuck to 1,200 calories a day every day without fail even if I was going out to a restaurant (either by exercising more or looking up the nutrition on the menu). Log your foods every day too. Planning and consistency helps!!

I've lost 42.5 pounds in 20 weeks!! Hope the tips help.
