  • I like to cook edamame this way...although I'm going to try this crispy edamame recipe tonight! Thaw a bag of frozen edamame beans. Drizzle w/ olive oil. In a wok - or pan - dump them in and crisp them up- takes about 5-8 minutes. Remove from heat and squirt them w/ the juice of a lime - salt and pepper (and you can add…
  • Thanks for the recent posts - at the beginning I was starting to think I was doing something wrong. I just get on "tangents" and stick with them for awhile. I've lost over 100 lbs. in the last few years - and am trying to get off the last 10. Just trying to make healthier choices. Our bodies do not need sugar - and coming…
  • Yes - from what I understand - the title "No Grain" is misleading....which led to my original question as to if anyone had read it. Was just wondering if anyone had read it - and what their thoughts were. As far as "no sugar"...I eat natural sugar (like fruits) - and can sweeten things w/ agave nectar because it's a…
  • I eat sugar in fruits - just no added sugar. No honey, brown sugar, white sugar, molasses, etc. I also do NO artificial sweeteners - they just can't be good for you! The "no grains" is new for me - and that is why I ordered the book. It's all about white rice, pasta, bread, etc. Whole-grains are ok, I believe. Since being…
  • Has anyone read Dr. Mercola's book "The No-Grain Diet"...just wondering what your thoughts were on this. I've been off sugar for a month now - and ran across this book. I have it ordered - but haven't read it yet. I'm just looking for recipes that I don't have to 'tweak'....I want some tried-and-true no grain / no sugar…
  • Thank you so much for this post! I've had two days of this....what I eat isn't bad - haven't had one thing that I shouldn't...but it's the way I'm eating it - and the out-of-control feeling that I have when I'm eating it! THREE MINUTES...love that - and am going to do that when I feel the binge coming on.
  • It's the oatmeal for me! My family is about to kick me out, too!??! I eat no sugar - so don't do the Fiber One bars - so I think it's oatmeal. I haven't tried anything over the counter -just think my body will adjust! good luck...to you and your family :-)
  • I'll be honest....I have sagging skin! I lost 120 lbs. - I think my problem is - I've gained and lost so many times, that my skin's elasticity is just gone! I've heard that happens w/ yo-yo dieting. The difference is - this time it's for good....but my skin is just worn out. On the GREAT side....clothes cover it up - and I…
  • Does anyone know how to calculate calories when you roast veggies with olive oil? I added 1 tablespoon of olive oil to my pan of vegetables (120 calories for the tablespoon) - but do I include the entire tablespoon when I log in my food? I can't imagine that I eat the ENTIRE tablespoon - some is left on the pan, etc. Just…
  • You have to remember who it came from - and what is said about you does not define you. You are a unique individual, created perfectly and specifically. I know words hurt - but you are stronger than those words. Stand up - and embrace who you are - a special, unique person! Have a great day.
  • Hello! There is a great site - caloriecount.com, I believe. I just googled "recipe analyzer" and it popped up. You put in your recipe and serving size and it does it for you. GREAT thing!
  • Breakfast: 1/2 cup old-fashioned oatmeal - 1/4 cup skim milk - 1/4 c. frozen blueberries Snack: apple or orange Lunch: 1/2 cup quinoa - 1/2 cup brocolli - 1 oz. reduced fat cheddar cheese - 1/3 cup fresh salsa Snack: Either string cheese - apple or orange - roasted soybeans Supper: 1/2 cup lentils or black beans - 1/2…
  • I had the SWEETEST tooth ever - couldn't end a meal w/out something sweet. I have lost over 100 lbs. in the last two years...even w/ a sweet tooth! The final 20 lbs. have been very stubborn - so about a month ago, I gave up sugar. Cold turkey. And - I found out that my sweet tooth is diminishing! I don't need something…
  • They are full of sugar! I am into my 4th week of "no sugar"...and slim-fast is something I'm missing terribly. I use to take milk, chocolate powdered slim fast, a spoon full of peanut butter and ice and blend ....delicious!!!!
  • I do intervals also - but I do run a minute - walk 50 seconds - run a minute - walk 40 seconds - run 1 min - walk 30 - run - walk 20 - run - walk 10..then go back up. My 1 minute run is the hardest I can do - usually at 7.0 and walk at 4.5 It's a workout - but you can do anything for a minute..and you go through this one…
  • 1/2 cup quinoa - 1 cup steamed broccoli - 1 oz. reduced fat sharp cheddar topped with fresh salsa. Delish! I make a big batch of quinoa and broccoli on Sunday - and divvy it up in containers for lunches during the week. Grab and go!
  • I have noticed this just lately. I gave up sugar 2 weeks ago - anything refined or processed. It's amazing how 'different' things taste now! I really think my tastebuds have awoken! Fruit tastes sooo sweet now - a banana is almost too sweet! I never liked hot tea before w/out sugar or something sweet. I had a cup yesterday…
  • I had 6 to go....and then the holidays hit me like a ton of bricks. Not sure what happened that I let myself eat like I did!?! So - now I have about 20 to go. About 10 days ago, I started on "no sugar" cold turkey. Cut out any artificial or refined sugars. With my sweet tooth, I didn't think I had it in me - but I'm doing…
  • It's great that you broke the plateau!!!! I am working really hard today to REACH my calorie intake allowance. I've been on this for 2 weeks - and haven't eaten enough calories any of those days! I am not starving...but obviously not eating the right foods. The other day I had 4 c. of brocolli and a piece of talipia - for…
  • Think how good you feel after you have FINISHED your workout....and how bad you'll feel if you DON'T do your workout. That is usually what motivates me. It's also good to add variety to your workout - don't always do the same thing. You can do it!
