  • That is one of the most impressive success stories I've ever read. Congrats!!
  • Amazing post and congratulations! I had a professor tell us one time that we should listen to our critics because they might be trying to tell us something. I've never forgotten that wisdom. Keep up the good work!
  • Try this. Every time you pass something that weighs 5 lbs or 7 lbs or whatever amount you've lost, pick it up and be reminded that that amount of weight isn't on you anymore. It works real well in the grocery store where you can pick up bags of sugar in 5 lb increments.
  • Page one: "Actually, I just felt he loved me. Its questionable now. We were together 4 years before marriage. But I think I saw the signs, I just was an idiot an ignored it."
  • Unless the circumstances are dangerous to you or others, or he is having affairs, you're first best option is marriage counseling with a qualified, professional counselor. It's a lot easier to fix marital problems than it is to get a divorce. Yes, he's a jerk, but being a jerk isn't grounds for divorce. You married him.…
  • Your friends are in no way healthy people. Listen to the advice above

  • Hey, McDonald's has the second best chocolate milk shake. Chick-fil-A has the best. As to hamburgers, I prefer 5 Guys.
  • A very large chocolate milk shake with whip cream and a cherry on top. I'm serious. I miss my chocolate.
  • That's one of the most intelligent posts that I've seen on MFP. Also, some women really don't understand how much men love the smiles, laughs, and quirks. Kudos to you and your husband. You got it right!
  • Don't sweat it. Sometimes, you just have to let off some steam. Me, I'm never going to pass up a good Scotch, or a good steak.
  • I've been married for 38 years to the same woman, so I've "learned" a few things. One of them is to never, ever, under any circumstance, offer unsolicited advice. Another nugget of wisdom is to never, ever, under any circumstance, notice that she might possibly have put on a pound or twenty.
  • I've lived in the country, city, and small town. Lived in Kansas City for 5 years and liked it, but don't want to do it again. Lived in the country and liked it. Currently, live in a small town. It's okay, but it does have quick access to the beach, the mountains, and the cities.
  • Oh, and I really enjoyed not being plugged in. No cell phone, lap top, email, texts.
  • I'm glad you enjoyed it, but it wasn't something that I would do again. I did like the fresh fruit and the view of the ocean, and it was interesting touring around the Bahamas, but other than that, I would much prefer to sail. If all goes well, I'll be sailing to the Bahamas this summer on a 43 foot boat.
  • I've never owned my own sailboat or sailed outside of US territorial waters. For those of you that have never been on a cruise. You aren't missing anything. Highly overrated.

  • Yes, I'm old fashioned too, but then, I'm also old.
  • My son wanted to do a 9 degree mountain hike last summer, so I changed my treadmill to 5 degrees to train for it. I walk on the treadmill; not run. What I found was that my glutes and quads starting getting firmer.
  • Nearly 2 years later. The sounds that I'm hearing is that the major conferences are tired of the bs from the NCAA, and are thinking of starting a new organization. No way they change conference alignments, but it could lead to playoffs based on conference winners.
  • Can't believe it's been over a year since anyone posted on this thread. Speaking of overrated, Clemson at #3 might well be the most overrated team in the history of college football. ;)
  • Sometimes you eat the bar and sometimes the bar eats you.
  • I agree that verbal abuse can be extreme and life scarring. All abuse is simply wrong. I guess "extreme" to me is criminal behavior that results in the potential loss of life, or a person's health is permanently harmed. And it would be nice if we didn't have to have any future contact with any abusers, but unfortunately,…
  • It depends on the degree of abuse. If it's "extreme," such as sexual or physical, then get away and don't look back. Also, seek out a therapist because you will need one. Co-dependency is an issue with abuse and breaking those cords will be more difficult than you realize. Another consideration will be other family members…
  • Yeah but the Big East champ beat the ACC champ 70-33. So which conference is the worst?
  • I agree with as much college football as possible, but what I see in the long run is a division among major D1 schools similar to the NFL with a 6-8 league playoff system. Personally I like the bowl system with a 4 team playoff.
  • Eventually it will come to that, but the thoughts of having an ACC team in a final 6 or final 4 is just wrong. That's the most over rated conference in college football. VT shouldn't even have been ranked in the top 25 at the end of the year. Clemson was decent, but look at the blowout WVa gave them in the Orange Bowl.
  • lol This thread went so long without a reply that I quit looking to see if anyone answered. Well we at least have a 4 game playoff. That's heading in the right direction.
