  • Yay for the baby shower. I'm glad it went well. Mine is this afternoon. I am an advocate against used car seats ... unless you know who it came from and can guarantee it's been well looked after and not in an accident and of course NOT expired. I saw one yesterday in a thrift store and cringed when someone bought it .. not…
  • Yes there's a link. I have gestational diabetes and that's one thing the nurse told me to watch for because with the sugar imbalance a person is more susceptible to bladder infections.
  • I have lost 10 lbs ... but that was after gaining close to 20 before being diagnosed with gestational diabetes so I really have to watch what I put in my mouth. That helps me a lot because the only thing I wanted while going through the all day nausea in the beginning were CARBS!! Now that I have to limit them I'm not…
  • once per week, first think in the morning, naked .. that's the only way I've ever done it, lol
  • Good luck Rachel !!! As for good foods. Pretty much what common sense tells you. Fruits, veggies, whole foods .. no refined sugars and sweets, etc ... Get your protein in there, limit carbs and get some exercise. Nothing new here. Leaving tomorrow evening to stay at my moms place and having the baby shower on Sunday. I'm…
  • I drink water all day. I get up to pee once or twice a night but I'm also pregnant so that doesn't help the bladder at all. Pee should be as clear as possible. The more yellow it is indicates you are dehydrated so some extent BUT .. some multi vitamins make you pee yellow in any case.
  • Child care is a nightmare. That's why I stayed home with my daughter after she was born. Pretty rough financially with only hubby working though. Now I get to do it again for another 5 years!! He's been going away for 6-months at a time to work in Alberta because that's where the high paying jobs are. He's missed out on A…
  • I drink a minimum of 2 liters per day and that's about 66 oz. or so. Sometimes I try to drink more than that.
  • My doctor didn't want me gaining too much because I had gestational diabetes while pregnant with my daughter, as well as pregnancy induced hypertension. I started this pregnancy weighing much less than I did in 2005 and in better shape but I was still lucky enough to get GD again but not the hypertension (knock on wood) so…
  • Welcome and congratulations to the newest members. That's wonderful news!! ____ My appointment was FAST today for a change. After waiting for over 3 hours to be seen the last time I was there I was all prepared and even packed snacks for my daughter since she had to come with me this time. I was in and out in 20 minutes…
  • I have a prenatal appt. this afternoon. I have to take my 5 year old daughter with me because with this new doctor, the wait is 2+ hours and my husband can't take that much time off and he can't take her to work with him. This should be interesting. Hopefully she will impress me and be patient. She's generally high…
  • I was on it years ago. I remember the nausea and tiredness in the beginning. It does eventually get better but you really have to watch the foods. The high fat foods may cause you to have diarrhea. I was on 2000mg a day. Stopped taking it because it didn't help me in any way sign or symptom wise.
  • Congrats on the 17 lb loss. That's fantastic!!
  • Hey, go to the reunion .. it's times like that where ones water is bound to break!! Happens in the movies all the time :)
  • special k cereal with cinnamon sprinkled on top and a banana in .5% milk
  • Oh and I do drink enough water every day. It's the only thing I drink so I'm usually at the 10 cup mark by the end of the day.

  • I have an OB appt on Monday. The Diabetic Clinic isn't open on weekends. I didn't speak to the nurse there after getting a small amount reading 2 weeks ago and she didn't seem too concerned since it was only one morning and not a consistent thing so I'll see what happens tomorrow and Monday before my appointment. I know…

  • I had to stop eating pizza because it sends my blood sugars up because of all the carbs in it. I really miss pizza!!
  • fresh fruits contain natural sugars which are broken down more effectively than refined sugars. Tropical fruits are higher in sugar but it's still better to grab a banana than a muffin.
  • PCOS here too (with IR .. which has progressed to Gestational Diabetes. on Insulin until delivery).
  • I can be your ray of hope here. I have a 5 year old. To get pregnant with her I needed high doses of Clomid along with Metformin. Not to mention starting a cycle needing Provera (I have PCOS). A few years ago we went the Clomid route again but nothing happened. We moved, I got on a weight loss/ lifestyle change and lost…
  • Thanks! I had it with my daughter as well and it went away. Either I wasn't being monitored as closely or it's a bit more severe this time because I'm on insulin now so hopefully it goes away again. Long family history of diabetes so my genes aren't that great I guess, lol Yogurt is horrible!! I've read the label on every…
  • We avoid McD's like the plague. There's nothing there that's really GOOD for you. Like someone said ... water. That's about it.
  • Agreed! Nothing with caffeine counts as water intake. The only thing I count as water is actual water. That way I know for sure what I need and what I have consumed.
  • I got my test strips last night. I bought 100 of them for $85 and bought some alcohol prep pads as well. I hope I won't have to buy either item again. I'll try to stretch those 100 strips to the end of my pregnancy and hope and pray the Diabetes goes away after delivery. I'd hate to have to deal with it for the rest of my…
  • Danielle - I hope the room thing works out. I understand the distance factor. The hospital I delivered my daughter at was 2-hours away from home and DH worked so he didn't even think about sleeping the night. She was in the NICU and flown to a children's hospital just hours after being born anyway. Then we had a 5-hour…
  • I had to go the glucose tolerance test. Drink that sweet orange stuff and they took blood at the 1 hour mark and again at the 3 hour mark.
  • 38F here and I wear a Glamorize sports bra and my girls don't budge an inch!!
  • The shared room would irk me as well. I have no idea how it works here since there are no classes to take or tours to go on. Now I'm wondering! Hmm!! When I gave birth to my daughter 5 years ago I was admitted 9 days before being induced and it was a shared room (different hospital) but in all that time there was never…
  • I'd be inclined to have a SMALL piece and then just workout extra long to make up the difference. I've done that before, lol
