Water...how much

So how much water should a person drink a day?
SOme say weight in oz and others say 8 glasses...
I find that I drink about 2-3 liters a day + 12 oz diet dr pepper and sometimes some unsweet tea. If I drink anything other than water I drink the same oz that it was in water on top of my 'normal' water intake....oh and I make myself drink at least 24 oz of water before I get my can of diet dr pepper.....lol

But, I try to follow half my body weight in oz's0 -
I try to get in my 8 - 8 oz glasses of water a day. Sometimes I get more than that. But that is the goal I reach for.0

For me 8 cups of water IS my weight in oz (well, close). 8 cups=64 oz. I am 60 kg so pretty darn close. I usually drink about 15-20 glasses (120-160 oz).0

There's no set amount of water. 8 8 oz glasses is a myth...a generic number meant to encourage people to adequately hydrate themselves.
Use your sense of thirst and overall sense of well-being. Choose water the majority of time when you're thirsty and you'll be fine.0 -

I drink a minimum of 2 liters per day and that's about 66 oz. or so. Sometimes I try to drink more than that.0

Being that it has been 100+ degrees in Texas for the last couple of months, I try to drink a gallon (128 ounces) a day . Normally, a minimum of 2 liters a day is sufficient enough for me --- depending on activity levels.0

If you're drinking 2-3 liters, then you're drinking about 8-12 glasses of 8oz a day... which is fine. I drink well over a gallon a day (16 x 8oz glasses) and its not forced. Stick to what you're doing and I'm sure you'll be fine0

:-) Thanks. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't drinking too much/little. It has been easier to drink more since I am in the Texas heat this summer!0
