TiffanyCMU5 I bought turbo fire and I'm trying to do it at home. I considered getting a beachbody subscription, but I am not sure I would use it. I do like the turbo fire at the YMCA (even though I'm usually several seconds behind the rest of group.... I just tell myself that at least I'm doing it and not sitting in a…

DancingMoosie, it's interesting you mentnioned turbofire on ebay, bc that's exactly what I decided to buy. I did some additional reseach after I posted this convo and found that turbo kick is the "health club" version and turbofire is slightly more and not the health club version. I think I'll be happy with it. Thanks for…

I mentioned above that I had back issues. Just released from dr after having back surgery. I had been in pain for almost 6 mo so I was ready for the surgery. Now I'll check out all those step suggestions!

Hi all. I finally got the results from the blood work I pushed my pcp to do. Can anyone give me info on these? I see the rheumatolgist Dec 17 My CCP was >250 rheumatoid factor 11 SED rate 17 ANA 1.30 ANA titer was negative
-
IT is heartwarming to hear all this advice and support. I was all set to call my pcp yesterday, but by the time the office opened, my hands were almost normal. Last night, I could squeeze my hands tight, type, and I felt "normal." I woke up this am with tightness and soreness in my right hand, again. Not as bad as it was,…

jelaan, I am so glad you found something that works for you! You all take care!

Angiefit4life- not hijacking! Anything that helps another person with this is helpful! GaleHawkins- Thanks. I had actually ordered a cookbook on "anti inflammatory " cooking. I actually am not the cook in the house, my husband is, but he'll do anything I request. Thanks to all of you for your help!
-
What is PA? I know what RA is. Feeling a little stupid, but willing to learn.
-
I seriously have to change my diet to less fried foods and more antinflammatory foods. I'm looking for a cookbook that uses easy to find ingredients; too many have items I would never find locally.

Spliner 1969 Thanks for such detail. I retired 2 years ago and decided to focus on me. I hired a personal trainer and I lost 15 lbs and wanted to lose 5 more. According to my trainer, anymore and it would be too much; I was excited to be tone and fit ... then I had issues with my back and couldn't work out anymore. I'm…

Looks like I need to seriously consider this move to GA. I need to check out storms and humidity there. I've never moved from my little town (little!) so this is stressful! I need to call a dr today and see about a RA test. My younger sister has it...poor soul put on 100 lbs from steroids and she is still in pain.
-
thanks, everyone. So a move to GA may be a good move. How do you all survive the cold? You all live in, what I assume, is cold weather areas?
-
Hey Nick, how are you doing after the surgery? I had surgery 3 weeks ago and can't wait to get back into a routine- anything! Yoga, Pilates, Piyo, Boxing, Weight lifting-- anything! How is your training going?
-
Hey Mendezmario! I just had L5-S1 back surgery and I'm hoping to head back to they gym soon. I've been in pain for 6 months and unable to work out at all, so I feel as if I lost all the gains i had before. Once I'm released, I still have 5 personal training sessions and I want those to focus on what I can and what I can't…

Hi. I've been off/on with exercise based on my off/on back issues :). Every time I would go to the gym, there would be step classes. I am totally (no kidding!) uncoordinated so my attempts at doing it with advanced steppers was comical... I mean..."around the world" just threw me and I don't know what the other moves were…

I agree sgt1372; if I need surgery, I'll get it. I want to live a full life, not a 'eh' life. My dr is the same one who works on pro athletes and I worked with a professional trainer. I see the dr tomorrow....I really hope there is something I can do beyond walking until I'm recuperated fully.
-
I'm sure I'll be getting PT, but I have to see the specialist first. I really don't want to give up my weight-lifting, so I'm hoping the Dr can help me continue. I'm not a runner, so I'm looking for other ways to stay in shape until I can weight lift again.

I really hate the pressure to buy shakeology. I think I'm going to try planet fitness; if it doesn't work out, I'm doing BOD. I really like the YMCA I belong to right now, but where I'm traveling to, the YMCA costs $50 a month which is ridiculous.
-
I really do like it. I keep trying! I can't say I'm sore from the workouts. They are challenging, though. I do have to get better at transitions. The rest of the class works together all in the same motion at the same time... then there is me  I'm ok with that; coordination is not a strength of mine. jillybeansalad-…

HI So this is my first check in... and I've really been off the gym for a few weeks (trip and then nasty cold with loss of energy). Hope to hit the gym again tomorrow because I cancelled my trainer twice already. I'm 5'10" Sept 20 - 156 Goal - 140 Hope you are all doing great!
-
hi. I just added to the group. I'm about 5'10". Decades ago (high school), I weighted 120 and was way too skinny. Right now, I'm 156 lbs and 62. I signed up for a trainer and we decided around 140 would be a healthy weight for me (calculations actually stated 130 but that's too low for me). So I'm toning with yoga,…

Thought I would post a follow-up. I signed up for a piyo class and it went really fast-much much faster than the dvds-but I was able to keep up pretty well. I couldn't move from move to move as easy as the rest of the people, but I love it! If anyone else is working on piyo right now, I would love to know.
-
Hi. I purchased the dvd a few years ago, but never got started with it. NOW, however, I'm free from work and started working out daily again. I took yoga and pilate classes for the first time. After a few weeks of yoga and pilates, I signed up for a piyo class once thinking it would be easy. Heehee. My hair and shirt were…

I am! He is the better chef :) He just loves to make the comfort foods he grew up with and those consist of a lot of dough, potatoes, and carbs. However, things may have changed Friday. He returned from a doctor appointment with results that he is way too close to being a diabetic. He finally started to read labels with me…

I don't know you so I must assume you are a "joker" in this community.

[quote It's a matter of preference. I liked my short husband more than others because he was the most intelligent and fun[/quote] I have to say this is the weirdest original post I have ever read anywhere. I like your response, though. People don't want others to judge them by the extra weight they carry or any other…
-
Thank you to all who have responded. I returned the healthy eating books and I'll just try to find great menus online. I've rejoined the YMCA and signed up with a trainer. I had my first meet today and I'm pretty healthy but need to drop some pounds. She calculated that 130 would be correct for me, but we both agree that…

* Yes. I can relate!

Thanks. He does need to lose weight, and he has been on WW before (unsuccessful), one of those chiropractor's diets (lost a lot; put more back on) but he's quite happy and has no intention of changing his lifestyle--even though he is already taking diabetic pills. I have had the "come to jesus talk" with him and he just…
