  • I started jogging/walking on April 2. You would think that being retired would be motivation enough to get out of the house. But I am a homebody and really enjoy my slow paced life after 26 years of teaching. Being over 50 and never being a runner, running was taking it's toll on me so I gave it up. Sad for me since I…
  • Weight loss goal for the 12 weeks: 20 pounds Net weight loss this week/Net weight loss from June 8th: 1 pound / 3.8 pounds Weekly victories: Being able to drop one pound without exercise. I have had a hard time getting back to the gym. I am enjoying my last "summer off" before I retire at the end of this school year. My…
  • So, my nearly 2 week vacation did not do me any favors in terms of loss. Despite 27+ miles of walking, I gained. Weight loss goal for the 12 weeks: 20 pounds Net weight loss this week/Net weight loss from June 8th: +2/-.8 Weekly victories: Getting my water intake back up and making better food choices. Goals for this…
  • Stefie, you can only try to do your best. I was at Disney World for 6 days and Universal Studios for 2. I tried to make the best choices, but I didn't always. I'm hoping the 27 plus miles I walked during those days will help the scale not move up too much. Yes, I know it will move up so I'm not going to freak out. I'll…
  • On still on vacation and cannot weigh in. Food choices have been a challenge. The only great thing had been the enormous amount of walking. My fitness tracker days I've walked 27+ miles this week. We fly home tomorrow so I'll get back in the groove.
  • I did not weigh in this week because I was on a plane at 6:30 in the morning. I'm at Disney World until the 7th. I'll try to make good choices and the only excersize willing be lots of walking.
  • I went to a wedding and had cake and a margarita! I went over as well but I danced the night away so I'm sure I burned a few of those calories. No regrets, but more careful eating today. My big issue is I'm leaving for Disney world tomorrow and I'll be gone 9 days. Making the best choices will be a challenge, but I hope…
  • Weight loss goal for the 12 weeks: 20 pounds Net weight loss this week/Net weight loss from June 8th: -2.6 lbs this week/-4.8 lbs total since June 8th Weekly victories: I picked up some nasty bug on Monday. I had body aches, chills, head and stomach aches, but no fever. It lasted through the weekend. I couldn't workout so…
  • I woke up at 2:30 this morning. I had a horrible headache and took some medicine. The I couldn't sleep. I stayed in bed until 10 and felt worse. Head and stomach hurt, chills, and very achy. I had to skip my cardio workout today. After 3 hours, I went back to bed and tried to sleep it off. Didn't work. Took some flu…
  • Weight loss goal for the 12 weeks: 20 pounds Net weight loss from June 8th: 2.2 pounds Weekly victories: I went to the gym 5 days last week. I added additional machines (6 so far, with 3 more left to add) to my rotation. This has added time at the gym, but I'm on summer break so time isn't an issue. I always take the…
  • My only "exercise" was cleaning the house. Dusting, sweeping and vacuuming... I also bathed the dog. I may go for swim later this evening, but there's boxing on so that may not happen;-)
  • With my 17 pound gain since last October, I was worried that all my much smaller sized summer clothes from last year would be way too snug. Well, I tried on some shorts and while they were a bit more snug than last year, I could wear them!! I'm so relieved as I need them for our trip to Florida at the end of the month. I…
  • My first stumbling block was getting a text from my daughter-in-law asking if I could keep my granddaughters for a week. Of course I said yes, but now I have to make sure to get my workouts in at home since my gym doesn't have a place for kids. Going to dig out my workout videos--HELLO JILLIAN!
  • Weight loss goal for the 12 weeks: 20 pounds Net weight loss from June 8th: 0 Favorite motivators: seeing the scale move down and feeling my clothes getting looser Resolutions for this week: Changing my weight in MFP to show the 17 pound gain since October. Humiliating but necessary. Getting to the gym 5 days a week and…
  • I'm 53 and need to lose the nearly 20 pounds I've gained since October. I have been on MFP for 875 days and had lost 52 pounds since January 2013. I'm a teacher that will retire at the end of next school year and I NEED to get back on track. NO MORE EXCUSES! Tomorrow I get back to the gym and get my eating back under…
  • Walking into Lane Bryant to buy new bras and being told, "we don't carry your size". I had to go to Victoria's Secret:-)
  • Sorry to leave the group hanging. I decided to take this week off due to injury. My knees, hips and ankles were just too painful. I'll rejoin next week with major modifications. No more jumping for this girl. I'm too old to put that much stress on my joints.
  • I am using today as a rest day. My knees and shins are protesting and the last time I pushed through these kinds of injury, I ended up at my doctor's office. I will try to do the cardio tomorrow and modify the jumping moves. Jillian's workouts always do this to me. I should know that at my age, I shouldn't be jumping even…
  • I also found this go round much easier to do. I was able to balance much longer than the first time. This workout felt pretty good.
  • Today's workout did not feel as awkward as Monday's. I did a bit better with the yoga moves, but still struggled with balance. Plank ups are tough for me, too. I think my coordination is off when I do them.
  • My thighs are so sore! I'm starting to feel a bit of pain in my knees so I'm scared that the addition of the plyo is going to make it worse as I progress. I'm going to ice them and pray that is passes soon. I joined a biggest loser contest at school and I want to win this time. The first time in January 2013, I joined but…
  • I use 8 pounds, but I need to find my 10 pounds. I struggled once again with the balance moves. I sure hope I get better because it really is frustrating having to stop and re-balance myself!
  • Just as I suspected, balance was my issue. I tried to get my leg up, but couldn't get it higher than my knee and ended up just keeping it near the lower leg or ankle. My other challenge were the yoga moves. I absolutely HATE yoga and I found myself struggling through this part.
  • I decided not to use my mat for this workout to see if I could do the running man without stopping to readjust my stride. It worked! I just hope that I didn't kill my knees/ankles doing it on the tile floor. I previewed workouts 3 and 4 this afternoon. Balance will be my issue in these next two, but I'm ready.
  • I completed today's workout feeling pretty great. I'll preview workouts 3 and 4 tomorrow after my cardio. I really need to find my other ten pound dumbbell or buy a new one. I have 15 and 25 pounds but I think those are probably too heavy to use this soon.
  • My balance is still off with those kickouts. I have to hold on the the wall so I don't fall over. I can get through the hip abductor exercise pretty well. I plan to preview the next set of workouts this weekend. I like to see what I'll be doing so that I can prepare mentally for any scary/difficult moves.
  • I finished the workout and felt good. I feel so uncoordinated doing the running man that I have to keep pausing to adjust my strides and arm swings. I probably look like a drunken sailor! The middle suicides felt slow today. Oh well, at least it is done!
  • Mellie289 - I'm in week 2 and I am not nearly as sore as last week. I am pushing harder than I did last week with the advanced moves. I am doing a bit more stretching than Jilian does so I think that is helping me from getting so sore. I liked 30 day shred the first 2 times (I'm OCD so the repetition made sense to me), but…
  • I'm also feeling sore/tight in the hips!! I really pushed myself today. I did all the advanced moves. I used 8 pound dumbbells but I think I'll try the ten pounders for the next workout. The upper cuts with the dumbbells really was hard, but I made it!
  • I'm a high school Spanish teacher and am in my 25th year. Today is my birthday and I turned 53. I feel so much healthier than 2 years ago when I started taking care of myself. I was down 52 pounds, but this last semester I lost focus with the stress of school. I am the department lead and the district finally agreed to…
