It'sx lactic acid that is causing your legs to feel 'wobbly' after cardio training. Lactic acid is produced when you tain in the anaerobic zone.

The only problem I have sometimes is being able to lift my arm to hold the hair dryer after a particularly tough workout!

Thanks debby and Lisa. My cousin did point out when we were talking about it today that even though it was only .2 kg, or .44 of a pound, it was still half a block of butter's worth of fat! That really brought it home to me that even a small loss is an achievement. It's just that the motivation is really hard to sustain…

I had a good week diet and exercise wise this week but only lost 0.2kgs on the scale this week. It's so hard to keep up motivation when weight loss is this slow!! Help ladies! This is the kind of excruciatingly slow progress that makes me feel like falling off the wagon :(

I thought the reason why doctors usually advise you to take the thyroid medication first thing in the morning is because you need to take it on an empty stomach. At least, that is the case for me, and I am on thyroxine. I wonder if you could consider using an energy/electrolyte drink such as Gatorade to help you have more…

So inspiring to read all of the replies to this thread. It is great to hear that although weight loss can be excrutiatingly slow with hypo, those who stick with it do eventually show progress. My challenge is that when the scales don't budge anywhere near as quickly as I would like/think they should. I throw in the towel…

Hi Stephanie, totally understand what you are going through. It's a tough battle for sure. I'll send you a friend request now. Tash

I don't have experience to pass on but just wanted to say hi because I'm doing my first ever sprint tri on October 6, the week after you do yours. Would be keen to keep in touch about how your training is going. Good luck!
-
Not no mess ... No meds! Damn you auto correct.
-
Yes things can really fluctuate, esp with hashimoto's if tgat's what u have. Your levels may be normal for a while, and then go hypo again, or even hyper for a while. But I hope you're lucky and you pr levels stay normal with no mess - it's not out of the question!

I actually didn't end up taking it. My endo recommended against it, and I trust her more than the other doc, who was only a general practitioner. Watching how it goes for others with interest though. I'm still having a hard time losing any weight even though im now on thyroxin. It's just such a tough battle. I put in a lot…

Thanks for your feedback. I think at this stage that my thyroid issues are here to stay too. It probably would have resolved itself by now if it was going to. I also will probably go hyper when I have another baby. :/ Take care and I hope you don't have too much of a rocky ride during the next few months.
-
Welcome to the group! I'm sure you'll find lots of useful information here and will get a much better understanding of what is going on with your thyroid.
-
Hi, just wanted to send hugs. I have been through that too. I had PP thyroiditis after having my baby just over a year ago. The hyper stage was so terrible, I could not sleep, suffered terrible anxiety and ended up having symptoms of psychosis. It is so tough, and I know just what you are going through. I know how hard it…

The presence of thyroid antibodies indicates either Hashimoto's, or Graves.
-
Yes that's my feeling too. I think she wanted me to get the scan to see if it was Graves or not. Also I don't have that scratchy, hoarse throat that I had when the gland was enlarged so my feeling is that it's not enlarged.
-
I didn't have the scan because I followed the advice of my family doctor who thought I didn't need it because she thought my thyroid was returning to normal given my T3 and T4 numbers had gone right down. It is now obvious to me after having done some research that what was happening was a pattern that is usual when p/p…
-
Yep, the ranges are the same where I live. So my Antithyroglobulin is very high. I think it points to either Hashimoto's or Graves, probably Hashimoto's considering my thyroid is borderline hypo now. So it looks as if my post partum thyroiditis has developed into an anti-immune condition, which apparently happens in about…

It is amazing to read this post ...... it mirrors my own experience EXACTLY. My thyroid too went overactive after I had my daughter, and then when it started to level out I stacked on a lot of weight. Not as much as 50 pounds, but still, it was impossible to understand given that my eating and exercise habits had not…

You could try and order fish, or a steak, and have it with veges or a salad. That shouldn't set you back too much. And instead of dessert, go for a skim milk latte.
-
You are incredible, just incredible. What an inspiration.
-
By the way there is a group on here for people with thyroid issues. Maybe you can ask some advice there http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/753-hypothyroidism-and-hyperthyroidism Good luck. I hope you get it sorted out. Thyroid problems can be very serious, so I hope you are able to get to the bottom of it all.
-
I'm not in the US so I don't understand your health care system. But, really, checking your thyroid involves a simple blood test to check levels of T3, T4 and TSH. This is the first step. Surely just a blood test can't set you back that much?

I've tried Braggs liquid aminos. It's yummy! I would recommend it.
-
I would like to lose 20 pounds by April too. The weight is coming off so slowly for me that I don't know if I'll get there that quickly, but I'm going to give it a try! Feel free to friend me. Good luck!
-
I don't eat them back. I just don't understand the point of eating them back - isn't the whole idea that we're trying to create a calorie deficit? But I do kind of keep of tab of them for the week and use them for a treat if I want to have the occasional indulgence like a glass of wine or a dinner out.

Yes, I was hyperthyroid last year. See my post above. I did lose weight while hyperthyroid, but stacked it on at a rate of knots once my thyroid corrected itself, and having a lot of trouble shifting all the weight I've gained.
-
hi there, So glad to have found this group! I'm Natasha and I'm not exactly sure what is going on with my thyroid at the moment, except that I just cannot shift the weight despite strict dieting and lots of exercise. Last year after giving birth to my daughter my thyroid went overactive - I had thyrotoxicosis and it caused…

Cool. I had that smoothie this morning with a raw egg, milk and vanilla essence. Alas, it could have done with a nice big scoop of honey!
