  • Good job!! 45 mins is my most so far but I'm back on it tomorrow so might try for a longer but less intense session and see how that goes
  • Just done this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSFYRiqodvU so that's another 13.66 miles in the bank Total so far: 34.66 (I know it's not much but Jan 2014 was 24.96 so it's already an improvement. I did bang on 1000 miles last year, aiming for at least 1500 this year)
  • Finally decided to bite the bullet and buy a turbo trainer yesterday. Gave it a quick try out last night and logged 10 more miles. Total for January: 21 miles
  • We're in the middle of gale and storm force winds right now and it's set to continue for at least the next four or five days so it doesn't look like I'll be out on the bike this weekend :(
  • 11 miles today. Total for January: 11 miles
  • Hi all, I got into cycling last January when some colleagues and I decided to enter a team sprint triathlon in May. I thought I might lose interest when the event was over but I'm now well and truly hooked. I was so pleased to manage to clock up 1000 miles in 2014 and I'm aiming to do at least that if not more this year.…
  • How are you finding the bike? I'm still getting used to mine but absolutely love it - so much faster than my hybrid and it feels so different to ride! Getting nervous about the tri now though - it only struck me this morning that it's two weeks today!
  • Clipless pedals were the first suggestion my brother made when I asked him how to improve - I absolutely love them!!! Tried cycling without them last week and it felt SO inefficient in comparison!! Off out with a few friends tomorrow morning to try out the sprint tri course. There's just one horrible hill on it so I need…
  • Didn't intend to - but ended up buying a cheap road bike on Tuesday. Only taken it out for a couple of rides so far but I'm loving it! Just hope the weather stays good over the weekend so I can get out and really test it properly!
  • I was talked into doing the cycling leg of a team sprint triathlon which is in just over three week's time so I'm trying to train for that I can't afford a road bike sadly so I'll be doing it on my hybrid that I've had for years The more I think about it, the more tempted I am to train to do the full individual event next…
  • I plan to start on Monday
  • My Dad was my inspiration for losing weight. He lost over 100 pounds and when I saw it was possible I figured I should try too. 71 pounds later (and lighter) and it's the best decision I ever made!

  • This is Murphy, my two and a half year old Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier who I love to bits! Murphy loves to sail with us (his name means Hound of the Sea in Irish) and even managed a ten day cruise around the Irish Sea last summer taking in the Isle of Man, Northern Ireland and Scotland! He's actually really skinny under…
  • Well I did it....it was very, very cold but really good fun! My main concern was showing myself up and being last but I ended up 19th out of 34 (and 3rd out of the 6 teachers who took part - I even beat one of my super fit, insanely sporty and active colleagues which was really exciting - although he wasn't so happy!) I've…
  • Hey Lindsey! I found I was really struggling when MFP got me down to 1200 calories and I got stuck on a bit of a plateau so I changed my settings to lose 1.5lb per week rather than 2lb and I found the weight started coming off again. It's now slowed a little, but I'm still averaging 1.7lb a week or something like that so…
  • I'm not what anyone would call a swimmer by any stretch of the imagination but I do enjoy it It's a school event and my students all wanted me to do it so I figured I would - it's been a couple of years now since I've taken part. I think I'll either just go for a gentle swim in the morning or take the dog for a long walk…
  • Depends whether I swim or not (I usually go first thing on a Sunday) If I don't swim, probably an apple with a little peanut butter If I do, poached eggs on toast :)
  • Yup - it works! Good job!
  • Ah thanks guys - good luck to you all in your journeys :)
  • Thanks everyone! :D It's not the end of the world if you go over some days as long as you keep the bigger picture in mind (some weeks I'm over three out of seven days but on the whole I do try to be under my goal every day) I have found that it's worked really well for me sticking pretty much to the suggested goal though -…
  • Thank you everyone - wow, I really didn't expect this kind of response!
  • Definitely stick at it - I've just come out of a 3 week plateau and it was really hard to keep going when I just got so discouraged every time I stepped on the scales but it's finally started coming off again and that feeling makes all the frustration and hard work worthwhile!
  • My back was the biggest shock when I took the first pictures - I hadn't realised quite how far I'd let myself go until I really studied the pictures (and even they were taken after I'd lost the first 17lb - I wasn't brave enough to take any at the start!)
  • Haha yeah I know what you mean!
