  • Might sound dumb, but I don't bother putting on makeup before I go to the gym, because a) it's 6:00 AM and my fiance and I are usually the only ones there, and b) I shower when I get home anyway, so what's the point of wasting makeup just to clean up and reapply it an hour later?
  • All, Here's a blog post detailing my day-to-day work: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/klcatterton/view/my-plan-for-success-so-far-215663 Thanks so much for all your support! :)
  • I did read the article--it says that in the introduction. There are many correlative studies out there, and while one must have a healthy skepticism of such, sometimes I feel there is truth. However, for example, just because ice cream sales and homicides increase during the summer does not mean that one causes the other.…
  • I would agree with you. It is an interesting read, however. I've re-posted the article here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/klcatterton/view/repost-endo-2009-use-of-artificial-sweeteners-linked-to-2-fold-increase-in-diabetes-215796 original link: http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/704432
  • Weird, the article didn't require a login for me... I'm afraid that's not the same article, anyway. Here's a quote from the article posted: June 15, 2009—People who use artificial sweeteners are heavier, more likely to have diabetes, and more likely to be insulin-resistant compared with nonusers, according to data…
  • By the way, if you go to scholar.google.com and search using the terms "artificial sweetener and weight", you'll get a whole host of articles from medical journals. Such as this one: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2892765/ Be sure to double-check the year of publication, though--I saw an article listing…
  • My doctor who, while a family practitioner, specializes in diabetes, told me that sugarfree foods such as diet soda really don't help in weight loss--the sweetness "tricks" the body into thinking it's actually getting sugar and produces an insulin response regardless. Here's an article on the concept:…
  • I love seeing these posts! I don't have any mid-way pictures yet, not that I'm quite mid-way yet, anyway! I have another five or so pounds to go--I'll take photos then. I'm 5'3", highest weight 195, goal weight 150. Currently 178.5. Started size 16, down to a size 12/14; goal: size 8 Hopefully I'm not too tall for this…
  • This is my third time starting it--started today, actually!--and so far, so good. I had success with it the first time, though I didn't get to complete it. I plan on doing it indoors this time, and then moving outdoors once the weather's a little warmer. A little reminder that always helps me in the tough times: the voice…
  • Need some spiritual support?
  • Welcome to MFP! I'm sure you'll find lots of support here. This website is a really useful tool!
  • Personally, I'd rather go to bed early and then wake up in the middle of the night to exercise. I always feel more awake/refreshed after exercising!
  • Amazing work! Just keep eating clean and exercising--most people pack on the pounds again because they have a) stopped exercising on a regular basis and/or b) stopped caring about what they fuel themselves with. Keep up the great work!
  • Double-check your thyroid levels as well; if you have an underactive thyroid like I do, it can definitely undermine your efforts.
