I'm vegan, not by choice, but because of an allergy. I'm going to start tracking my food on here. Anyone who wants to follow me, I will keep my diary open. Have you seen the Beyond Meat burgers at Whole Foods? I'm going to try them!

I second the alpha-gal test. It's an easy blood test they can do. Talk to an allergist if you need to. If you have it, it will be in your blood and you will know definitively yes or no. It can be deadly, so get tested! It may or may not go away over time. Another thing it could be, although rare, is exercise-induced…

Hey lilibean! Just a few weeks, and I only wore the shoes occasionally. Crazy, huh? I thought it was interesting so I posted it in the runner's forum.

It's hard to be brutally honest with yourself. But I can see that you are doing this, which is a big first step! Once you commit, and do the work, the results will follow. I have confidence you can do this! You have a secret weapon over others struggling to lose weight, and that's knowing that you can do it, since you have…

Thanks for sharing the hot lemonade recipe! These are great ideas. Glad you survived your run, LadyMud! How are you feeling?

I've lost over 50 pounds since my highest two years ago. I'm happily married, and am enjoying a new, active lifestyle that includes bicycling, running and yoga. If anyone is interested in being MFP friends, please send a FR. I haven't logged my food in a long time, and try to eat homemade and healthy, always looking to try…

Age: 43/male SW: 210 lbs CW: 160 lbs (5'11") Took it slow and steady over 2 years. Started with an elliptical and a recumbent bike (30 minutes to an hour) 3 x a week. The recumbent is set up in front of the XBox 360. On the elliptical, I read my Kindle. Had a PT for a couple of months who set me up with strength training…

Amazing story! Thank you for sharing. Many times, being overweight is the result of things that have happened to us, and our unhealthy coping mechanism. You are a shining example of how to take back control over your life, and make changes for the better. Many kudos to you!

I guess I'm technically considered to be "in maintenance". I think I would like to lose five more pounds, but rather than looking at weight or a number, I'm looking at body composition. I can still "pinch an inch" (remember those old Special K commercials?), though my abs are finally starting to show! :drinker:

Thanks for the responses! I've gotten some new running shoes. Mizuno, and ordered a fuel belt online. I'm glad I went in and got sized for the shoes because I thought I was 10.5 wide, but I'm 11 regular. Actually 10.75, but not wide width anymore. I think since I've lost 50 pounds, my feet have slimmed down. So, if you've…

Thanks everyone! Lilibean, wow! Great writeup! You've always been a good friend, and I remember when you had your injury that kept you from running. I will definitely heed your warning and look into some new running shoes now, and get them broken in! This app I just found (Gipis Running) has created a 12-week training plan…

Thanks for the replies! I've decided I won't be using the Vibram's for this run. Compression socks seems to have mixed purpose (before/during/after). I was invited to join a local running group, so maybe that's actually something I should consider more seriously.

If you log everything, including the beer and late night snacks, you will see if you're under your calorie goal, or over it. I'm guessing you're going over. That being said, don't get hung up on "losing weight before the wedding". Just be happy with yourself, and be understanding as you take this journey. Know that it…

With no electricity, you will want to keep your refrigerator and freezer closed. I would tell the landlord you will need proper notification next time! Clearing the basement is NOT the same as no electricity! And if your food spoils, send your landlord the bill.

Your title is a generalization. On my bicycle this morning, I passed a few runners who said "Good morning" and waved. Just like some people say bikers are rude. It really depends on the individual. Plus, it's not always rude to "not" wave. Sometimes people are "in the zone" or just not the type of person to wave or speak…

I've read a very similar article in a different magazine. Yes, sitting all day is unhealthy. But you can overcome that by working out before and/or after work, or switching jobs! :)
