  • Its also post baby - my pregnancy was very tough and did a number on my body. I had to be put on a high calorie high protein diet to help with SIUGR and TTTS (check out fetalhope.org) along with being on modified bed rest that caused me to gain a BUNCH of weigh, but did help my little girl to grow a bit better so it was…
  • I add mine based on HRM too - I think that the MFP database doesn't include personally added exercises just because of how differently people burn calories. Even the stuff they do have WAY overestimates (at least for me...).
  • I made it all the way through this week!!! That second half really is great - tough, but fun. I have a tough time bringing my leg in for runners pose also - I just pull it up from where it gets stuck. I was surprised that the planks are getting easier too - my upper body strength is kind of crap. Thank you for the tip…
  • Unfortunately, recruiters work on numbers - if they didn't or can't recruit you, they aren't going to spend time on you, even if it is just adding you in to something they're already doing. It sucks, but these guys are busting their butts to meet quotas that can make or break their career, and hardly have time to see their…
  • Hey there! I'm currently considering joining the Marine Corps when I reach my goal weight (150). My husband is currently an active duty marine with 7 years service and will be EASing in about a year, so my goal is to join when he goes on terminal leave. I had originally thought about going Navy (to be a corpsman ideally),…
  • Also I'm not using the HRM either - I had to pick and choose my investments. I figure if I stick with it for 90 days, that'll be my reward for next round. I have a bad habit of quitting workouts. I'm using p90xcalories.com, but I'm finding I think it over estimates my calories burned quite a bit...
  • Well, maybe I was just bloated yesterday because I weighed/measured myself today (I do it tuesdays for my FB group) and I'm down 2.4 lbs and a half inch on each of my measurements since last week. AWESOME!!!
  • I'm actually starting week 3 and I really like it - I do feel like I'm making progress and getting stronger, although my weight and measurements don't show it. :( I'm feeling ok about it because the workouts are becoming more manageable so I know SOMETHING is happening.
  • I'm not following it simply because I have to have more fats in my diet because I'm breastfeeding. I get them from healthy sources (fish, nuts, etc) but I can't do exactly what they say. I am eating a much higher amount of protein in comparison to carbs/fats, but like you, mine it much more balanced.
  • Alright, I got my husband to explain it to me. I figure he should know, he cut a ton of weight and got extremely fit a few years back (he's a Marine). Here's the explanation I got: "You should try to maintain a net base of 1200 calories, so if you plan to burn 300 through exercise, eat 1500. You aren't doing yourself any…
  • That's where it gets confusing for me though. I was under the impression that working out in and of itself stimulates the metabolism, so I would think that if you're feeding your body (at least 1200 healthy calories, spread out through the day, not all at one time) and working out it should raise the effectiveness, not…
  • Love it! Thanks!
  • I'm using the MFP pre programed things, but just going with similar things (kenpo -> kickboxing, core syn -> calisthenics, etc) As far as pull ups go, could you attach a scarf or belt to a closet bar and use it to pull yourself up from kneeling to standing (or as close as you can get? Amazing progress btw! I started at 226…
  • If you find yourself having trouble pulling yourself up, you can get up on the bar using a chair and do a 'controlled descent' (let yourself drop down slowly). I haven't bought the bar yet either - my hubs makes fun of me because I've been using soup cans or sand filled containers for weights. He said I'd fit right in with…
  • Hi there! I'm Sarah. I'm a USMC wife and mom of two beautiful girls, Jordan, 3, and Harper, 7 months. The last year has been very challenging - my twin pregnancy was diagnosed with TTTS (twin to twin transfusion syndrome) at 17 weeks and we lost one of the girls at 20 weeks. Part of the treatment for TTTS is a high calorie…
  • How closely did you follow the nutrition plan? Just curious because I'm doing my best to - I'm upping my lean protein and going low fat and lower carb, but I'm not following it exactly. I'm also exclusively breastfeeding my 7 month old, so I have to have more fats (fish, avocado, etc) than would normally be allowed.
  • Hi there! I started this past monday, so I'm about a week ahead of everyone and I'm doing the Lean version of the program. It's been kicking my butt but in a good way. I've always been overweight, but strong and had a really good muscle base, but two kids have done a number on me and I'm ready to get it back and get to a…
