Actually, I had my body fat measured by one of my fellow trainers at the gym the other day, and found one of these machines in my grocery store this weekend. The scale was pretty accurate, but you have to be sure to follow the instructions and put your feet on the little bar as the instructions tell you (the first time my…

The Genesis just helps clean me out (apologize in advance for TMI). I've been eating healthy for quite some time now, but sometimes...let's just say the plumbing gets backed up. A few weeks ago, this was the case. NOTHING changed...I was still eating plenty of natural fiber, exercising, getting plenty of water, etc. I…

I would definitely log as strength training. We have a machine that is a lot like the Total Gym, and that is what I log it as.

Genesis 4 Total Cleanse. You don't have to change what you eat while doing the cleanse, but it is highly recommended you eat healthy foods and drink plenty of water...trying to stay away from processed junk and greasy foods. I go through a cycle of this stuff about once every 6 months, and going through a cycle right now…

Interesting fact about drinking juice you make yourself from raw fruit and veggies. When eating whole fruits and vegetables, you lose some of the nutrients from them in the digestion process. However, when you drink the juice after running the same fruits and vegetables through a juicer, you actually absorb more nutrients,…

Decided I'm not giving up anything. Instead, I'm challenging myself for the next 40 days to get as toned and ripped as I possibly can! 40 days of hard core dedication to this!!! Yes, I know I have to take break days for the sake of my muscles...but on these days I at least want to get out and walk. My weekends are…

Holy crap! That's a whole other dog laying there next to your pooch! Beautiful dog, by the way. I'm a huge fan of huskies and malamutes, but it would just be cruel to have one in the climate I live in...way too many 100+ days, and I can't keep the A/C too cold or the power bill is unmanageable.

Tell me about it!!! We went on a cruise a few weeks ago, and though I was mentally not ready to come home, I was physically ready! All that rich food on the ship had me feeling terrible! I swear, I came home and ate nearly all fruit and veggies for a solid week! I was so ready to go back to doing my own shopping and food…

Good for you!!! And the longer you go without smoking, the better your lungs will function, and the better you will be in cardio exercises! My husband uses an e-cig, but he can't seem to quit the nicotine completely...he still relies on it heavily, and you can tell when he needs it!!! At least I don't have to worry about…

I was watching my sugar anyway...hence why I was drinking all kinds of diet sodas and using artificial sweeteners before reading that book. I learned a lot from back in my days of doing super low carb. I try to stick with fruit that has a lower glycemic index. I love berries! I also eat a lot more green veggies than I ever…

From someone who just took a cruise a few weeks ago, don't drink, and watch your food like a hawk! The food on the cruise ships is very rich...lots of sodium. When I got home, my ankles were huge, and the scale was 7 lbs heavier. Luckily, most of that came off by the end of the week by eating mostly fruit and veggies, and…

I agree with what others have said here...it is the habit of putting something in you mouth that is the problem, so many who quit smoking start snacking. If you are using an e-cig, that takes care of that habit, so you shouldn't have the sudden urge to snack.

Fruit, rice (I've especially grown to love black rice...get it in bulk at Whole Foods), potatoes...there are many, many possibilities. One thing I noticed is how many things have MSG in it! I've even had to resort to playing around with making my own dressings and dips for veggies, because even the mixes have the crap in…

I also eat clean (non-processed) about 80-90% of the time. I read Jillian Micheals' book "Boost Your Metabolism" last year about this time...seriously scared me organic! No joke! When I read how additives could dork with your hormones and such, I quit all kinds of things! I haven't had a soda of any kind in nearly a year.…

Change up your workout routine about every 3 weeks....change exercises, change intensity, change weight, etc. Also, are you doing intervals with your cardio? If not, try this...for about 3-4 minutes, go at a pace where you can barely hold a conversation. Then, for about 1-2 minutes, go has hard as you can (if you are…

Same here...I don't eat back in my exercise calories either. Of course, in my case, it was my personal trainer who gave me the advice to eat nearly as exactly as possible the same amount of calories each day as my resting metabolic rate...no more, no less...and adjust my deficit via exercise and activity. This is what I…

Seems you've encountered what I tend to call the "whoosh effect". Could be lots of things that caused you to lose a bit more, but I wouldn't be too concerned about it. It is normal to have up weeks and down weeks, as your body changes composition from fat to muscle (if you are exercising, as well as controlling diet).

My resting heart rate was 94 bpm when I was at my heaviest, and with a family history of hypertension, this definitely concerned me. Now, it usually runs between 60 and 68 bpm. I achieved this after about my two years of working out, and dropping my first 40 lbs. So, yes, your resting heart rate will get lower as you get…

Definitely, ditto on working out with shoes with good arch support, even when just doing a video in your living room. I always wear my workout shoes when I workout at home. In the mean time, sounds like you strained something. Go to Walgreens or CVS and get a good ankle sock/brace. Don't get it too lose, you want it a…

Yeah...I see the same problem...lots of fast food...like breakfast this morning. If you are looking for something quick for breakfast, what I do is boil up some eggs, and get some pretty good (meaning not a lot of sodium, preservatives, and the like) fully cooked chicken sausage I can throw in the microwave. The 5 minutes…

Just saw this...I'm willing to help! I've learned a whole lot on my journey, and I've gotten all kinds of good info. Now, I may not follow it 24/7...I mean, when I was sick, I know my sodium and carbs were way off! And today...I had to do with what I had. While I was at the store yesterday, forgot I was out of sausage, and…

I just remind people I'm not on a diet...just limiting my calories and portions at the moment to lose a few pound. It is actually a lifestyle change...making the decision that I'm going to eat HEALTHY foods like lean meat, fruit, veggies and such for the rest of my life regardless of the portions...because I got tired of…

I think so many of us get frustrated with our bellies! I have had two kids, and lots of stretch mark scaring on my tummy as a result. Just continue with your fat loss...cardio, healthy eating, strength training. Make sure you are working your entire core...there are tons of little muscles that don't get activated by…

@Razique...that's why I don't have a "cheat" day...and probably why I had so many problems in the past with rollercoasters and yo-yos. That is why I now just eat what I want in small portions. I make that thing I'm craving fit into my day. If I know that there is a special event that night where I may want to eat…
-
I actually don't have a cheat day. My biggest downfall in the past has been deprivation of my favorite foods. So, instead, what I do is just eat what I want in moderation. I want fries? I order the smallest size they have off the value menu. I want cheesecake, I get some friends together and go get a piece of cheesecake…

Any change to diet, exercise routine, weight loss, weight gain, etc. can cause your cycles to go all wonky! If you have always been a bit all over the place, I would get your hormone levels checked. I used to be anywhere from 26 to 32 days between cycles. Very frustrating, let me tell you. Found out I was estrogen…

Always, please, put the seat down. I don't even care if you put the lid down. Sitting bare butt on a toilet lid in the middle of the night because you don't want to blind yourself to pee is much better than falling in to the cold toilet bowl water any day!

Would definitely have to go with the suggestion to make your own. Then, you are only dealing with the natural sugars in the fruit and/or veggies you use, and not added junk. You would be surprised how many recipes are out there, and there are even some targeted to certain things...like if it is cold season and you want a…

In agreement with others...just say no! Most of the ones on the market today have a butt load of caffeine, and will give you the jitters and a nauseated feeling, or make your heart start racing...not good. I've tried them in the past, and none really did anything other than make me feel like crap. I mean, sure I lost…

Personally, I supplement. I find a protein shake makes for a good snack. I'll have a normal breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and then have a protein shake for my morning and afternoon snacks. Helps get me to the next meal and avoid the urge to nibble on things I shouldn't.
