  • I like tae bo. Look up the tae bo advanced or ripped extreme videos on youtube. I have had great success with them. Once I get familiar with a workout, I mute it and watch am addictive tv show on another screen. That is something that really motivates me.
  • I have always enjoyed carbs. Plus my dad who did low carb for years had a bad stroke. He is okay now thank goodness and it is not clear there was a direct causation but his doctors did tell him to stop doing that diet. I just limit calories and to make sure I still get to eat the foods I enjoy sometimes/ in moderation.
  • Hey, I am starting over also. I lost 60 pounds 3 years ago, but it's been slowly creeping back on. I am a high school teacher and any time I come back from work, I am beyond stressed, and I just want to eat! I am ready to start over also. I have 25-30 pounds to lose. Feel free to add me. We can do this!
  • Hey, I am in the same boat. I packed on weight this summer, due to low motivation to control my eating. I am getting back on track. Focusing on cutting calories and 5 workouts per week. I have 33 pounds to lose. Let's do this!
  • Do you have ALDI or Trader Joe's in your area? Both those stores are extremely budget friendly. I also have has success with cutting down on grocery bills by cutting reducing meat consumption.
  • #1 that person was mean and a total idiot. #2 I have some theories as to why the person said that. *Jealousy? (is he really unhealthy?) *Trying to pick you up by insulting you? Some people like to insult flirt? Personally I've never slept with any of them ;) *Surprise you look so awesome and flabbergasted as to what to…
  • Rest. Pain is often the body's way of telling us we are pushing it too far. Try something lower impact like the elliptical. Are you running on an incline? That can often cause injury. Personally, I've also found that both yoga and swimming after a run help prevent injury.
  • Raw local honey is supposed to help with allergies. It seems to make a positive difference with seasonal allergies for both my husband and me. When I am baking sometimes I will use usda organic sugar, but usually I stick to raw local honey. Expensive but worth it, especially in homemade honey oat breads and in teas. Yum!
  • When people's posts annoy me, I hide their posts from my timeline. Problem solved!
  • I quit smoking almost a year ago. My husband is about 2 months cigarette free. It's so tough, particularly with weight management, but if I can do it, so can you. Great job on being 4 days without cigs! Keep going! You can do this.
  • Hey, I am an emotional over-eater too. I binge and even though I log as I go, that doesn't necessarily mean I can stop myself. It's so hard! I wish we could form a group where we could support one another! One thing that has really been helping me is a book I checked out from the library "Food: the Good Girl's Drug" by…
  • Usually just an apple and a ton of water. I do best on days when I work out while dinner's in the oven and I eat a bunch of protein right after. I feel satiated and really good energy wise when I eat dinner right after.
  • I am lactose intolerant. I am managing it, mostly by limiting dairy, and by taking psyllum husks fiber. I definitely do best on days I avoid dairy. Some observations I've found with my own body. I do better with solid cheeses. The more creamier the thing the more problems I'll have. Fiber is your friend. I've also had…
  • These are some of my favorites: Feeling younger and stronger than I did when I was a teenager. Having my *mother* compliment me on my size (never ever used to happen) Being able to run intervals on the treadmill for an hour! Eating less, but enjoying food more, and feeling more in control and happier about my relationship…
  • I've always had low blood pressure and I've always craved salt. I add it to my cooking, and always have sea salt, plain iodized salt, and kosher salt handy. I love it! I think for some people it's harmful and adds to overly high blood pressure, but not for most people. So just make sure you're not in that group :)
  • Some studies suggest a correlation between deodorant use and breast cancer. http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/Risk/AP-Deo Certain birth control companies now have class action lawsuits against them because they are suspected to have been a key factor in several women's deaths.…
  • Great idea! I'll look into it - thanks!
  • I've had this one for 3 years. Absolutely love it. http://www.amazon.com/EatSmart-Precision-Digital-Kitchen-Silver/dp/B001N07KUE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1389503968&sr=8-1&keywords=eatsmart+food+scale
  • p.s. Am I the only one who thinks the my fetus is a parasite joke is creepy? If you think your kid is parasite please don't spawn any more into the world. We're almost at 10 billion. Thanks in advance.
  • Wow people are really judgemental on this site. I've had two Russian doctors tell me we all have parasites. Russian doctors, in my experience having lived both there and here are way more educated and qualified. They are also not in it for the money, or at least not back when I lived there in the USSR days. I've never ever…
  • Black coffee. It's an acquired taste. You have to use high quality coffee. I roast my own. Once you acquire it, it tastes wonderful, but yeah, you can't use the cheap stuff (instant coffee is full of poisonous chemicals anyway). You could start with something like the Starbucks Columbian roast. That is a pretty good…
  • I experience the same symptoms as you. I binge and feel horribly guilty afterwards. For me a binge is usually triggered by alcohol too, one too many drinks and calories cease to matter... like magic! Then the next day I tally up the calories and feel horrible about what I have done to my body. I've started reading a book…
  • I have IBS. Limiting dairy and taking psyllum husks daily has enabled me to eliminate my symptoms. Have you gone to the doctor? I know lactose intolerance is much more common than gluten intolerance, and lots of gluten-free stuff is not so good for you... so make sure you get the test first...
  • Hey, I have a problem too with compulsive overeating. I am trying really hard to find a support network. Would it be alright if I friended you?
  • Could be a reaction to dairy. Lactose intolerance is much more common than gluten intolerance. Glad you are going to the doctor. Feel better!
  • Thanks for all your feedback everyone! It's really helping me to process through this stuff. I think I am formulating a plan. 1. Drink lots of water. I am certain I do not drink enough. 2. Read about emotional eating... perhaps it will help me to process and understand binge eating another way? 3. Write before I eat. Any…
  • Stress is a huge trigger. Unfortunately I log my calories using google calendar, and not at all on my fitness pal. I guess I could try MFP's food logging app. I don't eat back any sort of exercise calories, which is why I prefer doing it on my own. Pre holiday goal was 1600-1700 calories per day. Now I'm just shooting for…
  • I love the suggestion about pre-packaged veggies. I do enjoy the food I eat. I eat eggs, veggies and peanut butter sandwich for lunch and we make tasty dinners. Sometimes steak, sometimes roasted bird, all sorts of delicious home made foods. I do feel hungry yeah. I feel like the hunger builds over the course of a couple…
  • Eggs are my secret weapon. They keep me full for hours. You can always hardboil them ahead of time and grab one or two when you are on the go.
  • I have such a hard time with this too! Naturally decaf tea really helps. I love the idea of finding something to do with my hands. I'll try knitting.
