  • Mu mum has IBS and has had it for most of my life (she started with it when she was pregnant with my brother)... She can't eat olive oil, full fat dairy, high fat meats (high fat anything really), green leafy veg, mustard, honey, tap water or strawberries (they are just an outright allergy). She can however eat milk…
  • I was diagnosed with binge eating disorder and went to some group CBT sessions. What I can tell you from my sessions is you have the signs of disordered eating (fear of certain foods, checking collar bones etc). Disordered eating doesn't fit into neat categories (anorexia, bulimea and BED are the three main types) - you…
  • I second this. If you have your activity level set too high on MFP, fitbit may give you a negative adjustment if you haven't done enough exercise during the day to warrant the activity level you have. Personally I have mine set on sedentary then let fitbit sync to MFP to add anything extra for the day. Don't worry if you…
  • Active would be someone who works on their feet all day i.e. A nurse. If you have a desk job, best to put your level as sedentary. Anything extra you burn above that will be added to MFP via your fitbit.
  • I listen to the glitch mob :)
  • Thanks, I get my running trainers from there actually. I've just had a check and they have a total of one pair of leggings in a 22 :# Will add them to my list of places to check regularly though!
  • I don't think I'll be adding anything new here, but Aldi and Lidl are very good for meat and veg at decent prices. I love fruit - particularly berries, but it was costing me a fortune buying them fresh as I eat them every day. Buying them frozen has saved me so much money - I got 1kg of mixed berries from Aldi at the…
  • I don't have any experience with lactose intolerance, but is everything you're eating lactose free? I know you don't have many things in your diary that could have milk in (just actual milk and possibly the biscuits?), but I can imagine even a small amount would cause issues, maybe even with weight if you have very severe…
  • I had a look at your diary and there are some days you haven't tracked, and some of the things you've tracked don't look accurate (no one has tea with 5ml of milk). It would be worth weighing everything and making sure everything is tracked accurately, even if you have a 'bad' day.

  • I'm in Aberdeen  feel free to add me
  • Using a HRM won't give an accurate calorie burn unless you're fit with a low HR, and are doing constant cardio (i.e. running without stopping). There are a lot of threads in the forums discussing why, which may be worth having a look for. Personally, I'm unfit and when I run my HR goes up to the max (i.e. 190s), so the…
  • The only other thing I would say is, it does cost more to get the vivofit with the HRM, so if you're on a budget, its not always the best option! But I personally think it was worth it
  • Yeah it syncs with MFP - Garmin have their 'Garmin Connect' site which stores the data from the vivofit, and the site talks to MFP, syncs both ways too. There are a few glitches sometimes, but they're quite quick at fixing things.
  • It will activate when you're on the heartrate screen on the vivofit - the HRM is a chest strap and isn't designed to be worn constantly, only when exercising. Don't know if there would be any benefit monitoring your HR constantly anyways.
  • I have a vivofit with HRM- if you want it for exercise, you will have to get it with a heart rate monitor. I love the fact that I don't have to charge it, and it's useful for tracking my sleeping patterns (as I don't sleep well at all!). I can't really comment on the Fitbit, but I'm sure someone else will!
  • I know in the past, if I logged an activity on MFP the vivofit would reduce the calories of the adjustment to compensate - that was with allowing negative calorie adjustments though. I don't input anything on MFP now, I just use what the vivofit gives me (I have a HRM for exercise).
  • I use a Garmin Vivofit with HRM which I love, although it is pretty pricey. If you do steadystate cardio it is pretty helpful - I do a lot of walking, and have taken up running for example. I find MFP exercise calories can under or over estimate, depending on what the exercise is. As MeanderingMammal said, it's not good…
  • You're very welcome to add me, I got mine last July. My username is damie-anne
  • The vivofit has started logging activities again as of today - it was apparently a wide-spread issue with the garmin software on their site, but now it's fixed. Lost the data from the end of the 11th-13th now though.
  • Oops, sorry for the huge pics!
  • Here are my current ones ... a woodland sleeve, still in progress ...And a little robin on my leg :)
  • There is a group for vivofit users, just search for vivofit under groups :)
  • I use an oat-banana recipe (no egg) which I love: 30g flour (any you like), 45g wholewheat oats (I like to have some fiber!), 1 banana and 100ml milk. Blend all together in food processor and cook as normal.
  • Are you using a HRM? Or are you inputting the exercise actually onto MFP? If so that is probably the problem. The vivofit alters how much you've burnt calorie wise throughout the day when you sync it, so if MFP has a higher number burnt inputted already, the vivofit will adjust this to what it thinks is right. For example…
  • I also have a desk based job, but I walk to work (about 1.5 miles each way), and I tend to walk a circuit of the hospital on my lunch with a collegue here. I also gain steps from my runs that I do 3x a week. Other than that, if i'm having an inactive day I try to make a conscious effort to go for a walk to hit my step…
  • I'm a 34G and I get mine from M&S - always have. I have tried other places like Bravissimo etc, but M&S is definitely cheaper and really good quality wise. I think some of the better brands you can also get cheaper on amazon etc, although that does have the faff of returning them if they don't fit etc.
  • Just enjoy your night out and don't worry about the calories. Personally when I drink (rarely these days, but back in uni it was OFTEN) I can be anywhere between one drink and the excessive (Talking many shots and cocktails, or a bottle and a half of wine. Please note: not all of this at the same time haha!). I'm only 5…
