  • I grew up in Rapid but never attended the rally. It was always interesting to see people from church wearing leather and riding their bikes to church before heading to Sturgis. Becky1971, it doesn't sound like things have gotten better. Now there are over 500,000 attending!
  • You look great! You were beautiful before and now your beauty + health!! Excellent job!
  • Welcome! I live in NW Montana. It's been snowing all day! I've learned to appreciate the snow, shoveling burns a lot of calories! Feel free to add me as a friend.
  • I eat most of them. I enjoy eating... lots of people say food shouldn't be a reward but sometimes I get on the elliptical for another hour so I can enjoy some ice cream or cookies. I've heard if you are eating healthy 90% of the day you have a 10% allowance for a "treat".... roughly 150 calories of ice cream, chocolate,…
  • He is cute. Sorry you're having a hard time. We had to put our dog Bear to sleep in September. I couldn't sleep for days, second guessing the decision. I rest in the fact that Bear is no longer in pain, she had a good life and knew we loved her. It looks and sounds like you love and spoil Harry. I hope the night/morning…
  • I'm feeling the same way! Also, I haven't lost in 3 weeks. I'll be checking back for the great advice/suggestions that I'm sure will be coming!
  • M&Ms!!! I ate more yesterday than I had in 6 months! I worked out until 1am to burn the calories. I did eat a lot of veggies too=).
  • Less than 100 but the days not over...I'll get on the elliptical before long, I hate seeing the red #s!
  • A few ideas: California Pizza Kitchen thin crust pizza...BBQ Chicken is just 300 cals for 1/3 of a pizza or homemade flat bread or tortilla pizza Baked chips, mini rice cakes (cheddar and caramel are both good) a variety of veggies sliced apples and oranges limiting portions is the biggest thing I'm looking forward to…
  • Flat-out flatbread is great and taste more like pizza crust vs. whole wheat tortillas. I cook mine in the toaster oven for a quick, delicious meal.
  • I order a large thin crust with grilled chicken, ham and tomatoes. 2 slices = less than 500 calories I usually cut the 2 slices in half, I'd rather have 4 small slices than 2 big ones. =) The pizza isn't too "healthy" so others will want to share.
  • =-) Kids! When I was coaching I had a 7 or 8 yo start touching/kneading my stomach...what do you say? I said, "Yeah, it feels funny huh?". Before you know it you'll be getting positive comments from the parents, the kids probably won't notice.
  • Happy birthday (yesterday), health is a great gift to give yourself! This site has been amazing for me! The people are supportive and inspirational! Welcome!
  • Thanks for the advice. I'll check into the rebounder and life cycle bike.
  • I was thinking of a recumbent bike. I agree that I don't want it to collect dust that's why I'm not thinking treadmill, probably wouldn't get used enough. A friend had suggested that the Elliptical and exercise bike are very similar in movements. I don't have easy access to a gym to compare.
  • It tightens, tones, is great for your heart and allows for more calories while still losing weight! Exercise is worth it...I hope you find an exercise or 2 that you love, or at least like, to do.
  • Great job! My first 5 showed me I could do it...You can do it!!! Keep up the good work!
  • You look great! Even your eyes look brighter. I'm 5'5" and my highest is 204#. I started working out but until I joined this site I didn't keep track of my calories. Once I put the 2 together it worked! So basic, can't believe it took me so long. My original goal was 150# and I didn't really believe it would happen. After…

  • No great advice here just someone in the same boat. =) I keep hershey's kisses w/almonds and Dove dark chocolate in my freezer for normal cravings but there are times of CRAVINGS! I'm going through those CRAVINGS today and my daughter made double chocolate cookies. I enjoyed 2 and now I'm going to work out a little more!…
  • I agree that it depends on the person. As for me, I keep Hershey's kisses w/ Almonds and Dove dark chocolate in my freezer. This has helped me with portions and cravings. I have chocolate almost everyday. I haven't cut out anything, just found a healthier alternative or control the portions.
  • Turkey burgers are an excellent source of protein. Costco has turkey burgers with 200 calories, 2 carbs, 6 fat, and 35 protein. Also, chicken breast are a great lean protein. Some days I go over on protein, sometimes carbs...I try to balance it out. BTW...your diary looks good!
  • Hi! I have 4 sweet children. I was 23 when my third was born and gave myself a lot of excuses as to why I never lost the weight or got into shape. At 30, I weighed my highest and I wasn't pregnant! Now that we have a baby again I'm finally getting into shape and doing what I should have been doing for the last 15 years! I…
  • Resting heart rate and medication must play a big part...I'm 34 and my resting HR is high 50's to low 60's. I'd never thought of it but when I went to the dr I was asked if I work out a lot, most women my age have a resting HR in the 90's (usually because of a lack of activity). My HR when working out is usually between…
  • From what I know about lifting and muscles...for bulk do less reps with more weight. For long, lean muscles (what most women aim for) do more reps with light weight. How heavy are your weights? Try less weight and 15-20 reps vs. 8-10
  • Hi! I'm the person tracking "shoveling snow". My driveway is 120'+ long and 1/2 of it is 50' wide...I assume I'm moving at a pace of around 2 mph. If I shovel for 30 minutes, nonstop, I credit myself as traveling 1 mile. The idea is to move...and move some more. Happy moving!
  • To all of you that are keeping up...Great job! To the rest of us, keep going and don't give up! Start Weight: 150 12/17 - 149 (-1) 12/24 - 148 (-1) 12/31 - 149 (+1...bummer!) 1/7- 147 (-2...Christmas # is gone!) 1/14 - 1/21 - 1/28 - 2/4- 2/11 - 2/18 - goal weight: 140
