Ditto on whoever said beans - beans are really good for you, deliver fiber and protein in a good quantity for the caloric bargain and you can do so much with them. Add them to salads, make them into soups, lots of possibilities. Also, generally can be found on sale!

Yes - your body will go into starvation mode, will start cannibalizing muscle and other tissue, and while you may lose a lot at first, your body's metabolism will eventually slow waaaaay down TO KEEP YOU ALIVE. Meanwhile, you will feel like crap. What everyone else said - ya gotta eat to lose, no two ways about it.

Do you belong to a gym? If so, check to see what they have in the way of strength classes. I have found that this is the only way I can stomach a strength workout, because like you, I find weights really boring when I'm by myself. When I'm in a group of other people though, I'm pumped!

I can only speak for myself, of course, but i have found it does! When I feel myself on the edge of a binge, drinking green tea makes the craving stop - it's why I keep it in my desk drawer at work. It reduces the chance of heading down the hall to the vending machine!

In the absence of a heart rate monitor, this is what I would do. And that's because I don't have a heart rate monitor, and I actually take a 30 minute class at work that sounds like your class, and that's how I break it down to estimate it. :)

I do! I do it at the gym and I love it. It is such a great workout. That being said, the first class was hard. I felt so ungainly and awkward, and I just tried to pick up the steps as best I could.
